I am one of the more popular guys at school. Not just looks, grades, or physical capabilities but also an attempt to murder case. Not mine! A friend of mine? Yeah, I guess you say that. So, I am slightly above average if I say so myself. And, things haven't been good for me recently.

The world I live in there was a peculiar phenomenon about 500 years back. Legend has it that on that specific day, a child was born in a church, and almost immediately after coming out of the womb, he floated in air and light was emanating from his body. It sounds corny if I say so myself. On that day, the world changed. All of the people who were 15 or above were given abilities. I say abilities, but it's nothing more than magic. As for the exact details, I think I will tell you when I get mine.

And, curtains closed. That's about it. Now, I am 15. But, nowadays instead of getting an ability by yourself, you got to visit a dungeon church. And that is done class-wise in my country. Section-wise would be more correct.

My familial situation is average. Or at least it was, until last year that is. You see, in the current society, your standing depends on the nature of your power. There's like a ranking system of abilities based on how strong it is..... or something like that. I never really paid interest in how they are actually ranked. Oh, and also, getting the same abilities is the norm in this world. So, my brother has an ability of 'B-rank-Light', which is a high rank, obviously.

Let me tell you some things.

Magic is divided into 5 types depending on the mana you are born with.

They are - Fire, Water, Wind, Dark, Light

And depending on the most compatible magic to your mana, you get your affinity. This affinity is ranked into 6 stages.

S, A, B, C, D, and E

This rank however is not fixed. Your rank can be increased with a suitable amount of training.

So, last year, my family was raised to the upper echelons of society. And, this is not on a restricted scale. This position is global.

So, today is the day I get my power and as expected, the whole school is noisy. After all, today is the day where for teachers, their school's fame will increase if they are lucky and for the students, they are getting new abilities anyway. As for me, well even I am excited and I can't sit still at all.

The dungeon church where are supposed to go today is actually connected to most major schools and institutions. All you need to do is go through the gate, and you are there.

As you would have expected, there are many batches of students. So, we all have a slot batch-wise.

Our turn was in 5 minutes.

I was sweating a lot and couldn't think properly. My mind was going blank. It was not only me but everyone around me. After all, this determines our futures. I was so nervous that I had to go to the bathroom many times. I was in the bathroom even now, but I couldn't bear to go out. I am too nervous.

By the time I had come out, it had already been 15 minutes since my section went in. I immediately ran into the gate and found that I was the last one.

I looked around and saw, one of my closest friends, Gira, jumping in joy. I asked around and found that he had gotten the best ability in the whole school. He was an A-Fire.

Suddenly, the man on top of the pedestal that was in front of me shouted my name.

Slowly, I made my way onto the pedestal. It felt as if the entire world was watching me as I was taking each step.

I put my hand on the orb that was in front of me and closed my eyes.

The result flashed on the screen. I couldn't believe my eyes what I was seeing. there was silence all around.
