Chapter 3, Roommate
(Please note that this chapter is written from Akira's perspective.)
I walk into the apartment which is now mine, well, mine and someone else's. At least I've finally moved out of that asshole's house, and hopefully into somewhere with a more mature roommate. Even still, as I stand here surrounded by boxes and much unpacking to do. I still can't stop thinking about my weird interaction with Hinata earlier. Why did he act so weird? I know that he doesn't like me, but even still he could have attempted to make conversation with me rather than just bolting off. But I still think it's weird that he lives here. And he even said he was living alone? Is it even legal for him to be living alone? I wonder which apartment he lives in? Oh well, no point in worrying over this. I'll see him soon, I'm sure. Especially when we live so close together. I start unpacking the few boxes that I was allowed to bring with me. I couldn't take much because there were strict rules from the landlord. She made it very clear that there was a maximum of four large boxes and no furniture except a bed and all that I could fit into my room. The apartment is small with a four seater dining table. A cute old fashioned kitchen, two rooms and a bathroom. I start lifting my boxes into my room which proved difficult with the dismantled bed lying on the floor and my desk in the corner. I drop the box and begin to assemble my bed.
When I have about a third of my bed done. I hear someone barreling through the door. The sudden crash as the person falls over the boxes I had to leave in the lounge is alarming. I stand up and quickly step into the lounge, which is easy in a small apartment like this. I see a lump on the ground, a figure in the darkness. When did it become so late? I rush over and extend my hand. A hand emerges from the lump on the ground and hastily takes my hand as I hurl them up. “T-thank you…” he says. As I hear his hand groping for the lightswitch, his other still in mine. Wait.. why does that honey-like voice sound familiar?
I am momentarily blinded as my eyes adjust to the light. I didnt realise I had been sitting in the dark for so long. I hear a gasp and I look at the figure. He is a bit shorter than me with light hair and a small stature. “Teach?!” I hear him yell, immediately releasing his hand from mine. A cold emptiness occupies my hand. “Oh, hello hinata. What a surprise.”
“W-what are you doing here?!” he exclaims.
“Well, this is my new apartment. I was meant to be moving in here today with my new roommate. Which, by the looks of things, appears to be you. Unless you got the wrong number that is?” I tease. I allow the amusement of watching his face darken to overtake. It's hard not to laugh.
“N-no… this is my apartment. Apartment 103.” he says firmly.
He is leaning up against the wall. Which I use to my advantage. I slowly lean in and whisper into his ear, “well, I guess we are roommates then…”
