The Queen's A King

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Apr 19, 2022

Mytel was a great guy. He was very compassionate, calm & genuinely good company; we got closer than I expacted us to. It had only been a month & a half, but I felt like we had been friends for years. He was the kind of friend that would go with you places so you wouldn't be alone... it was like his essence was all you needed to feel better. I would vent to him about missing my dad & he wouldn't say much about it, he would just... listen. Take it all in & respond when he thought I needed it. It helped... but not enough. Dad was still gone, me & my step-mom were arguing more, & I kept getting this feeling of being followed. I wasn't sure by who or what, but I never felt 100% alone; it was eerie & frankly worsening my anxiety. I had a feeling it had something to do with my dad & like an idiot, I tried to confront the person. That was when the dread set in; it was multiple people... like 3 to 5 of them, but they were in similar clothing. I would notice a symbol etched into their clothing; it was 3 intwined circles shaped like a venn diagram, but the circles looked broken at various points. I got the courage to complement the logo on a womans shirt I saw. She smiled, saying thanks & left. At first I thought it was a brand logo, but I couldn't find anything on it other than it being similar to a venn diagram. There was stuff about Camelot but it wasn't the same. Couldn't be... Dad said that she grew up in Camelot, but he made it clear that it was a little town in the UK that shared the name. I tried my best to ignore it but it wouldn't leave me alone. Then one day, everything got chaotic.

I came home to see my neice after hanging out with Mytel again. She's lightly tanned with long dark brown hair & is fairly tall for a 14 year old. She's wearing a pink sweater with a white shirt underneath & a dark blue skirt. She wore the flower choker I had bought for her. Her light brown hair was done in low pigtails. She's sitting in the family room, playing something on her phone. "Uncle Archer, when are you gonna ask him out?" I scoffed, lightly tossing a pillow at her while she giggles. I nod to the TV & turn it on, cycling through channels. "Depends." now she scoffed, tossing the pillow back. "On? You clearly like him if you're seeing him almost everyday. You're only like that with Jewel & I." I rolled my eyes. "You're too smart for your own good. I dunno... like-I dunno, he's too perfect. Sides, I don't think people like me are his... preference." she looked at me up & down. "Yeah... you dorky types are a bit off putting. Wouldn't wanna scare him off." I let out a snort & she howls with laughter. "Seriously though, I don't think 'people like you' would bother him in the slightest." I game her a smile. "Thanks." she nodded. "No pr-" something out the window caught her eye. "What the heck...? I-Is that a dog? Ah crap... that's Dee's dog. Hang on a sec." she rushed outside; I almost immediately heard excited barking & her playing with the dog. She was taking her time to walk the dog back home though... 10 mintues passed, then 20... did the dog run off. She suddenly walked back in from the backyard, a rose flower crown on her head. "There you are! What took so long? Did the crown come fr-." "That lady wants to talk to you." her voice is deadpan & her eyes looked glazed over. Her head was moving around as if she lost support in her neck; it was like she was drugged up. They way she was looking made me think the worse. I ran over to her, checking over her, helping her sit down on the couch.
"Yuki, what's wrong with you?"
"She wants to talk to you."
"Who?"
"The pink haired lady... y'know, with the wings & horn."
"Who Yuki?"
"Me."
The pink haired woman was back, but she looked annoyed. "You can't listen for the life of you, can you?" I got angry as she looked at me. "What the hell did you do to my cousin!?!" The woman gave me a side eyed look, sighed & plopped herself down on the couch. "Ok... y'know, I was thinkning that maybe you'd remember me eventually but I guess not. I'm Opal, a friend of your m-" "I don't care, just tell me what's wrong with my cousin! I'll call the police!" I demanded. I was getting pissed off; this lady broke into my home twice now. "Call them for what? They'll ask how I got in & I'll tell them Yuki let me in. The time before that, I used my key." she pulled out a golden key with three circles at the handle. I've seen that insignia before. "Where did you get that? Are you with the people following me?" Opal looked at me with a worried face. "Hey... can... can I take this thingy off now... it...  it's making me feel groggy. What's it called again?" the doorbell rang & she rushed for the door; she was like a blur, how can a person move that fast!?! "Oh... um, where's A-" that was Mytel! "MYTEL! HEY, I'M HERE!" I rushed to the door to see Opal leaving, staring down Mytel with a playful smirk on her face. "You're lucky pretty boy; he's pretty alright lookin." She glanced at me for a moment, waved & started to walk away. "Oh & say hi to your new 'daddy-in-law' for me when you see him." she says as she laughs. Mytel watches her go, chuckling to himself. "Hey man. Good to see ya." he says, giving my shoulder a hard pat; oh, he finally painted his nails that bold blue color. Wait a... "What... what are you doing here? I didn't... we're not supposed to meet up for another few h-" "Yuki! Hey, you anywhere aro-wow. Wouldja look at that..." he gets to the entrance to our kitchen from the front door & is looking around in awe. He was clearly looking at something, but I had no idea what. "So... you can see those thingies too? Awesome..." she mutters. Mytel smiles at her. "Hey Yuki, how're you doin? Lookin pretty rooted to the floor there. Mind if I look you over?" he seems to hop over to her, looking her over. It was like he started acting like a cop from a TV show. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know what that crazy lady did to her! I-It's like she's high or something." Mytel touches her hand & I see something glint in his eyes. She looked back at him, her head kinda lulled over to the side as she giggled. "Dog. You're a good boy." she pets him as if Mytel was an over excited dog & I am so very lost. "Hey! You clearly know whats going on, so out with it!" Mytel sighed. "Ok, ok. Fine. Archer, if you wouldn't mind coming over this way then? As for you Miss Yuki, I'm going to need the pets to end for a moment." she stops as I walk over to her; her ears suddenly looked longer. "Watch this." he says calmly, making a gun like motion with his index & middle finger, flicking the fingers in a star like shape. When he removes the flower crown, the room errupts in a bright light.

"Open your eyes. I promise, it's ok." I slowly open my eyes & let out a yelp. The living room looks like an overgrown forest, all of it stemming from Yuki, who's now asleep. Transparent butterflies of every color are everywhere, most of them resting on me & Mytel. I notice that Mytel looks very different now. His hair is longer & now in dreads, draping over his shoulders. His nails are claw like as he waves at me, as if to see if my eyes follow their movements. He had a large, fluffy black tail coming out of his backside too. The thing that captivated me most were his golden wolf colored eyes. "Well... you look nice." he says chuckling; his teeth look sharper than before. "What... what is happening?" I muttered, but covered my mouth. My voice... it wasn't much deeper than how I usually talk, but I wasn't forcing it this time. "Looks like you got bulked up a bit... I hope that sticks around." he says. I pulled out my phone camera & nearly begin to cry. My face is still the same, but it's slightly more muscular... not as rounded. My hair is at level with my chest, yet there's something oddly masculine about it. It gave me a regal vibe... hold on, my chest. I gave it a hesitant touch & my suspicions were right. It was a flat chest... it was a man's chest. "I... I'-I'm a man." I whispered proudly. "We're you not always one?" Mytel asked, with a mix of sincerity & genuine wonder. I don't answer him as he stands up. "Well... good news is that Yuki will be back to normal in a hour. She'll be awake by then too. Based on the look you're giving me, you didn't know too much about any of this huh?" I can't really react too much, I have no idea how to respond. "We'll talk about this soon, I swear, but for now-" he places his hand on my cheek & a teal butterfly rests on it, then lands on my nose. I start to feel drowsy. "You should rest too."

Archer had always heard great things about his mom, Selene. She died protecting a young girl when he was five & ever since people tell him what a kind woman she was. The tragedy brought him & his dad closer, but there wasn't much to really remember her by. Sure, his dad showed him pictures & talked about her, despite getting remarried, but it wasn't the same. Archer had one thing though, his face. He always looked just like his mom, freckles & all, even while doing his own transition. One day however, he get's a note about his mother & that shakes his world to the core.
