British people and waits

One thing I still struggle to understand, after many years in the UK is why British people will gladly wait for their barista to take 20 mins to make their coffee, but when the public transport is even 1 minutes late they go nuts!
It might be because the public transport in Italy is not even near the one in London, but I think 1 minutes will not ruin your journey to the office - the 20 mins waiting at the coffe shop might, tho!
