A few days have passed since Hyaku passed out. Waking up quite some time ago to continue where he left off last time he compiled his thoughts of the writings that still does not click for him.
“Something’s not right, I can feel it.” he says as he goes to look at the gate once more. “I think I’m missing something but what is it-” He notices key holes located on certain parts of the gate. “What is this?”
Realizing that he had no idea what clue that was, he subconsciously put his hand on his chest. He felt something there and reached inside his shirt to pull it out. It was a necklace and Hyaku stared at it in his hand. A crystal blue necklace in the shape of a lightning bolt.
“W-what is this? Did I always have this?”, he says with a sound of confusion.
He looks up to the keyhole and attempts to put it in without caring of the questions he just said to himself. It fails to go into the hole and then looks at it in his hand again and his face slowly becomes that of a depressed person. He returns the necklace back into his shirt and the lightning around him he is using as light grows.
The lightning goes wild around and Hyaku closes his eyes. He tries not to lose himself with his power and absorbs all the lightning and transfers it to his right fist. The lightning scatters and is destroying the ground around him looking dangerous and more powerful than before. As he opens his eyes he looks at the gate with a frustrated look and launches an attack at it: Raging Bolt. The lightning disappears and he stands there in pain as the attack he attempted failed, unable to make the gate move/budge or get damaged. Struggling to catch his breath he backs away and falls to his knees to look down and think to himself.
“Okay stay calm. I need to assess the situation. Understand the matter at hand and approach it with all information in mind. Hundreds of ways to approach a problem, as long as one of them works to reach your desired end then you have your solution. The labyrinth gate is here in a cave. Other gates I’ve found before were where? ….At the top of a mountain, that one was very strange. Another was in the middle of one of the wastelands. Quite a few were in multiple different gates but unlike this one they weren’t hidden so that means this one must be special, right? Wait, whatever happened to those gates, did I ever try to open it or did I-?”
He slams his head on the ground trying to force his brain to remember. “Did I just never try to open a gate? Is that why I can’t remember…wait-!”
Hyaku gets up off the ground and releases his lightning to look at the language he didn’t understand on the gate. He looked for the words he understood.
“The labyrinth will only allow…”, he says as he comes to a realization. He looks at the other symbols seeing if he understands any of them but fails to but his mind is calling everything.
“It’s like I thought! This gate, it’s like I’ve seen it before. Like I’ve been to this one before. It’s probably the only reason why I can understand some of what’s written because I deciphered it before but could’t decipher anymore than that. Wait, what…I need to rethink this…”
He holds his head and closes his eyes to understand that something in his head does not seem right and tries to piece it together. Confused and not wanting to believe it. He steps away from the gate.
“I have seen this gate before. That would only mean that I’ve been here before…but I’ve never been to this cave or this canyon ever. Maybe, I’m mistaken to think that this is actually one of the gates I’ve seen before…am I gaslighting myself?
Hyaku feels a bit scared, looking at the placing not on the labyrinth but around it. He thinks he is going crazy and tries closing his eyes and tries to think to himself.
“The only conclusion I can come to is to return to the labyrinth I found long ago to see if it’s identical. That’s the only way-”
Hyaku senses something for an instant and turns around and feels something from the entrance way. He dashes back through the entrance to the corner and sees a piece of black clothing falling to the ground. His eyes widen and look towards the waterfall.
“Am I hallucinating? I swear I just felt something…or am I just going crazy? Wait, I’ve never sensed the presence of any living thing on this world before. There is no way there was someone…right? -or maybe?
He figures if he goes outside he will find what he sensed and runs toward it. The cave glows behind him but doesn’t notice it. Hyaku grabs the edge of the wall to not get overpowered by the waterfall to fall to his doom. As he hangs on a part of the canyon he looks around. He tries to sense anything that is alive but comes out empty. His body feels pain as he holds onto a part of the canyon.
“Dammit! That felt too real, I refuse it was just my imagination. Maybe there is a secret passage that was on the path to the gate. I need to hurry.”
He tries to swing back into the cave but as he goes into it he slams into a wall behind the waterfall and starts falling down. “W-what?”, he says with a shocked look on his face. Not knowing what just happened as he starts falling down into the canyon.
