Rise of the Heroes: Tales of the Jisuit

Taking all the credit - Part I

Taking all the credit - Part I

Mar 15, 2022

"This sucks!"
A teen boy kicks away a rock. The pebble bounces off the street's tiles until it falls into the gutter with a thud.
"Eros, calm down. We managed to pull if off. That redhead has been delivered to the boss as we promised." A blue haired boy walking next to him responds. Nevertheless, Eros does not seem content with their victory.

"Yeah, and big brother Douglas got all the credit for it. What did I get? A shoulder pat!"
A hand ruffles through Eros' hair.
"That is because I turned the tide of the battle and brought LaCondore to the chief." A man with white long hair looms over the kid. His face adopts a large grin.
"Hence why I get all the credit and you don't! Bwahahah!" Douglas laughs at the sulking cherry haired kid, who kicks another rock.

"Don't you think that is fair? What about you Ares?" He talks to the other boy.
"...no comment." Despite Ares' softer temperament he felt the same as his brother.
"C'mon, you guys need to loosen up a bit." Douglas sighs. "It's not everyday we get to enjoy a free day like this.
Well, it's not like we have to recuperate every day either." The man glances at their battle injuries.

The trio walks through town. The place had seen better days. The bricks of the buildings were cracked, and dry weeds are growing beneath some house porches. Overall the state of this town was that of decay. Whoever runs this place had to step up their game.

Just a bit further ahead was a stand selling cold drinks. There was a decent row of people in line to quench their thirst.
"How about it? I will buy us some drinks, sounds good?" Douglas offers. The twins smile and nod. It was a hot day and they could really use a drink. So they join in line.

A teen girl in front of the line had waited for a while but now it is finally her turn. The seller happily obliges and makes her a fruity cold drink. However, a large round teen approaches the girl as she walks away after paying and taking her drink. Forcing her against the wall. Eros sees this.
"What do you see?" Douglas notices his subordinate looking at something.

"What do you say, Sylve? Will you become my bride?" The teen begins to force himself on the girl. He has fancier clothes compared to the rest of the town. He also had a mustache drawn on his upper lip, which looked really stupid. But Eros' guess is that the boy himself drew it to maybe look more mature.
The girl's face had a look of disgust.

"No! I already gave you my answer Erik, and it remains no." The girl responds, trying to move away. But the boy blocks her way with his arm.
"How about my pops gives you and your family a big bag of money? In return, I ask you to go out with me."

"Over my dead body." The girl hated the guy's dad. Everybody in town does. They are the reason why it is in such a decay state.

A vein pops on Erik's head as he slaps the girl, Sylve, she stumbles back and her drink spills on the ground. Eros wants to intervene but Douglas halts him.
"Tch! I can always convince other girls with my money. You are nothing but low class scum." The guy comments. "Only good for your looks. Go join a bro-"

"Boo!" Douglas puts a thumb down. "You stink! Go take a bath. Might as well wash off that prehistoric crayon mustache."
"Why you-"
Erik yells at Douglas but is interrupted by the girl punching him in the face. It is a strong hit, and one of Erik's teeth breaks. He panicks and scurries away.
"My dad will know about this! Don't think you are off the hook with this!"

Ares helps Sylve up.
"Are you alright?"
She nods.
"Thank you. But..." A frown comes on her face, "his dad rules this town. I'm scared that Erik will send his men after me."

Douglas cracks his neck. A wicked smile adorns his face.
"Is that so? Well boys, I think it is time for some recuperation training, don't you? I'll leave this one up to you."
Ares and Eros nod. Whatever Erik's dad had in store for them, they will have to face and overcome.
