Days had passed since Quentin brought Odysseus- brought Kaihou back to his house. The painter had a hard time sleeping in his bed, looking at his contacts, even getting up sometimes. When he went to visit Lily he didn't touch much on it either, still stirring in his brooding. Maybe-
KNOCK!
Quentin rolled off the couch out of shock. Begrudgingly, he went to open the door, it was probably just a deliverybot coming with his chicken lamp. Turning the knob back and pushing it towards him, it was in fact Lily.
He closed his eyes and gave a sleepy response. "Whaaaaat?"
Lily pushed her way in, "Ooh! This looks nice. Money can do a lot for you, huh?" She walked to the window and turned around to look at Quentin, who had large eyebags, disheveled hair, and was wearing a bathrobe. She cringed.
"Oh yeah, you haven't been here after I got all my furniture." He formed a fist and rubbed his eyes, going to his tea-maker to get a drink.
"You look awful."
"Thanks."
Lily rolled her eyes, thinking back to the last time she saw him. "You didn't act too happy at Ah Ma's house either, and I know it wasn't because of her with that frown you had coming in."
"I could never be mad at your grandmother, that soup was amazing." He continued to prepare the tea, which prevented him from noticing Lily sneaking around his house. She peeked around his phone, discovering nothing and being unable to open the device itself, then investigated his bedroom.
Quentin continued going on aloofly. "She has got to give me that recipe someday, ask her to leave it in her will so it doesn't die with her. That soup deserves a legacy. I believe I'm worthy to uphold that lega-"
"AHA!"
The painter grabbed zeir chest, "My word, stop screaming."
Lily ran out of his room holding a strand of hair with two fingers, blonde hair.
"That boy you went into the coffee shop with, you DID sleep with him!"
He stuttered, trying to form a defense. "I- I- No- I did NOT!"
"Then explain THIS?" She waved it in his face, forcing him to try holding in a sneeze.
He swatted her away while plugging his nose. "He was sleeping in my bed because he was bleeding, calm down!"
Lily didn't show much concern for that statement, but put her hands up and sighed. "Tell me what happened, at least. It's probably why you're so mopey."
"Yeah." He groaned, drooping his head to the side. "Well after your manager or whoever he was kicked me out I was walking around trying to find something to do and he bumped into me, being chased by this big guy..."
Quentin went on to explain what happened between, them conveniently leaving out anything that made him or Kaihou look bad.
"...then Odysseus's sister glared super defensively at me and made those sex jokes you did, but it's weirder because she started talking about meeting family and being a good boyfriend so I bounced."
"Surely she was just teasing you."
"Yeaah, but the vibes were just off. They were saying something about why he was running too and I just felt unwanted."
"Aww, you have a little peasant bread-stealing boyfriend." She teased, causing him to give a face of neutral displeasure.
Lily continued. "Do you like, actually like him? Because the way you talk about him..."
Quentin's face lifted. "What? No. He was just staying here. But I mean, you save someone's life of course you'd want to keep in contact with them."
"I guess, but are you like fully sure because you seem REALLY upset."
Zey waved zeir hand around. "I maaay have had some strange thoughts when I grabbed him."
His friend made a disgruntled noise, sipping the tea he prepared for them while speaking. "Wait, where does he live? You're absolutely disgusting but you should probably see him again to get it cleared up."
"Oh," Quentin checked his phone, having made a note on it including his address for... reasons. "Seiza Avenue."
Lily choked on her drink immediately after he read it. "Where? Please tell me you mean Seiko Avenue."
"Seiza."
She clutched her imaginary pearls, chuckling nervously. "Not the worst red flag, I guess. Name's kinda weird, Odysseus?"
"It's a Roman guy. His real name is Kaihou, that's what his sister said."
"KAIHOU?" She covered her mouth.
Quentin raised his eyebrows, questioning her. "What? Is he a big thing in town."
Lily waved her hands in front of him. "Not just a 'big thing.' He's prince of one of the biggest organized crime groups in San Florecer. Quentin, you in danger, boy."
His eyes were practically bulging, but he rested them as a thought occurred to him. "Was that a Ghost reference?"
