Do you ever feel like you don’t belong? Like no matter how hard you try, you’ll never fit in? Well, I do. Hi, my name is Dahlia Elyse Yates. Yes, the Yates. I’m in what most people call the “Perfect Family.”
My Mom, Joselina Yates, owns her own fashion line (“Joselina”), is an actress and model. My Dad, Daniel Yates, is the C.E.O. of “Yates Tech” (the biggest phone company in the U.S.), an actor, and owns his own show called “Living with the Yates.” My older brother, Ethan Yates, is a model, a famous Youtuber (“Ethan Yates”), and an influencer. My other older brother, Chase Nathaniel Yates, is a model, a famous Youtuber (“Chase Yates”), and an actor. My older sister, Jolene Yates, is a model, famous Youtuber (“Jolene Yates”), and influencer. My other older sister, Estelle Yates, is a model and famous Youtuber (“Estelle Yates”).
I, on the other hand, am not any of those things. Why, you may ask? The answer is simple. My family is embarrassed of me. Why? Because I have heterochromia, which makes my eyes two different colors, and vitiligo, which makes my tan skin lose pigment in different places. My family finds it “not normal” or “unnatural.” Which to me, makes no sense. My Mom’s bleached hair is more unnatural than my skin and eyes! Just sayin’!
Also, you may be asking how I hide my colored skin and different colored eyes from the public because my parents are too ashamed of me for me to show it off? The answer is pretty simple, long sleeves, pants, closed toed shoes, and colored eye contacts.
I also have two amazing best friends, who have been with me since I was in the fourth grade. They know everything about me. They know about my eyes and my skin. Their names are Riley Anderson and Gracie Lynn. Gracie just started dating my brother Ethan.
Do any of my other siblings have boyfriends or girlfriends? Well, yes and no. Chase doesn’t have a girlfriend. Jolene has a boyfriend though. His name is Adrien Carter. Estelle has a boyfriend too. His name is Jackson Brett.
Anyway, I have to start sophomore year at a different school. Why, you may ask? Because my family is now too rich and famous to go to a public, regular kid school without being recognized. So, I have to move to a brand new, celebrity highschool. It may sound like a dream, but celebrities can be real snobs sometimes. Of course, some celebrities are nice, but not all of them are.
