We arrived at the castle after a pleasant ride that felt much longer than it actually was. It appeared to be a massive tree rather than a castle. This tree, which would have required at least a few hundred people locking arms to round it, was constructed of a white stone that resembled jade.
I was pleasantly delighted to see how amazing the interior of this castle was, as I stepped through the main doors of the tree. There were two curved staircases that formed a circle, with a massive chandelier floating in the center. This chandelier appeared to be formed of the same orbs of light that could be found all throughout the city.
Uncle offered me a room to rest in, which was quite large, but in my exhaustion, I didn't care since I went right ahead, fell on the silky bed, and slept like a baby.
...
After an hour of being freshen up, I went up for meeting my maternal relations.
The entire welcoming team was gathered around the round dining table below. Uncle Cyran sat at the far end of the table, right across from me.
A middle-aged woman, a bit past the bloom of youth. A tiara is visible surrounding her brow, signifying that she is the queen. Her eyes are round and shining a light purple color, which contrasts nicely with her rich pink lips, and her silver hair fell in curls down her back. It was uncle Cyran's wife, who also happened to be my aunt.
She sat perpendicular to her husband, along with a charming little girl, who appears to be a year younger than me, with short silver flowing hair and sky blue colored eyes, as well as a small perky nose with her unique pointed ears.
I assumed the small girl was Uncle's kid based on her appearance, making us cousins. But for some reason...I couldn't stop my gaze at her. She was....sparkling...and that felt really...relatively weird.
Finally, there was an elderly man who had outlived his prime, with sharp facial features and a stare that could kill someone on contact. His hair is pure white and knotted back, his face is clean shaved, and he sits across from the queen and the princess, with the five guards standing off to the side behind the King.
"So...Allen!" he said, his elbows resting on the table and his fingers interlocked. Tell me about yourself! You can call me uncle, by the way! haha!" Uncle Cyran smiled as he stated this.
Is it just me, or is the King-Uncle acting much friendlier than before?
"Umm..
My name is Allen Tyler, son of Chloe Ty..*erhm* Elriel and Edwin Tyler. It's a pleasure to meet you, Uncle King, Aunt Queen, Elder, and gentlemen!" I stood up and bowed slightly to each of them before returning to my seat with a grin.
They're smiling, so that's a plus...but why is the girl staring at me?
"Hey! You didn't greet me!" the girl said with a cold demeanour.
I looked at her and smiled, "Oh my! I must apologise for my rudeness; it is a pleasure to meet you...princess!" I reacted inadequately.
"It's all right! Simply...call me, Lyra! I'm your cousin, after all!" She stated that with a lovely face and a shy expression.
huh! What do you know! She is sweet.
Uncle King and Aunt Queen, as well as the guards in the back, all seemed surprised by my mature behaviour, and even the Old man had an amused smirk on his face, as Lyra gave me a bashful smile.
Uncle Cyran smiled and continued on his way. "You appear to be much more mature than your age." Edwin and Chloe have taught you nicely! Okay, let me introduce everyone here. As you are aware, I am your uncle, Cyran Elriel, and here is my wife, Shanaera Elriel, as well as your cousin, Lyra Elriel. At last....this is mine and your mother's father, your grandfather, Ralnor Elriel. Don't be embarrassed...we're your family after all!"
Wow! They're all quite polite. But I should be more mature in this situation. My mother's name could be tarnished if I do something wrong. It will also be an embarrassment for my family.
I smiled and began speaking with everyone, and they all seemed to be quite pleasant to me. They told me many anecdotes about my mother's youth, as did Uncle Cyran.
And my aunt here was actually my mother's childhood friend, so she was quite warm and comfortable to converse to the moment we started talking. Despite the fact that she was Queen and my uncle was King, they lived freely as a family.
Lyra, on the other hand, was a little bashful, and I was hoping to grow close to her as well as.....uh, my grandfather had a serious expression on his face and didn't even grin once. Laughter and smiles abounded as the entire establishment was filled with joy, and I almost forgot to ask uncle why did my mother sent me here first.
I eventually told them I was a mage. This was followed by another wave of stunned expressions from everyone.
My Grandfather gazed at me with a serious smile at that moment.
My Goodness, thank fully, I managed to make him smile, even if that was very short.
