Week 5, year 17XX
After the pet incident, everyone started to calm down a bit. With lady Azelina being occupied with Violet (I’m assuming it’s her pet’s name) and spending her time with her family, she hasn’t gone berserk and obediently stays quiet in her room. I doubt it’s because she was scolded by the Marquis for how calm and happy she was this week.
But still, not many people try to get even a foot near to lady Azelina, even the newly recruited maids and knights heard the rumours and try their best to stay away from her. I even had to convince one of the new knights, Sir Allen, that the lady hadn’t murdered anyone nor she was into some underworld organization and wrecking people’s lives for fun.
So imagine our surprise when the lady suddenly requested me to be her temporary personal maid.
The same lady who threw sharpened utensils to maids and butlers for fun.
The look on the faces whom I had to pass to go to the lady’s bedroom was as if I was facing my death that day. Since I was the only person who denies that the lady had turned evil (aside from the head butler), they must have thought of that now
When I stepped into the lady’s room, she was caressing Amber on her lap while staring at me, expecting my attendance in this very room.
What a villainess vibe, it’s like coming out of a novel!
I thought that I was ordered to do some sneaky request from the lady.
But
surprisingly, lady Azelina didn’t say a thing. Seconds turned to minutes,
minutes turned to almost an hour. With only me, the lady and the cat wolf
dog cat creature in this room, it suddenly turned into
a waiting game.
A very terrifying and tense waiting game
It did sound soul-wrecking, but after about five minutes, I got tired, took my eyes off of the lady and went to the creature instead.
The creature was staring back at me. Although it’s an unidentified creature (still not sure if it’s an animal…), its purple sparkly eyes were blinking at me with such innocence that it made my heart swoon. And with how its fluffy fur was caressed by the lady, I had to hold my urge to touch it too.
It also mimicked what I did. When I blinked, it also blinked. If I tilted my head, it also tilted its head. Things like this made me smile. And when that happened, its ears would twitch happily (although still expressionless since it doesn’t have a mouth).
I was so occupied until the lady called my name that I realized why I was there in the first place. When I looked back at her, she looks calmer, though still have that uncertainness and guarded look. She didn’t look tense anymore.
And then she mentions “Violet” which is her pet’s name. And then she waves her hand to come here and let me touch it. I was ecstatic.
I touched Violet’s fur and it indeed felt soft and fluffy. I thought at that time, “That’s why she let me touch her pet. Because she knows I would rest in peace in her wrath knowing my dream (the smaller ones) has come true”
…Or so I thought until she told me that from that day, I would be working as a personal caretaker for her pet.
I was
overjoyed because I’m still alive I could get closer to Lady Azelina and
get to know Violet more.
So this week had actually been pretty great.
If you put its odd looks aside, Violet has actually been obedient and surprisingly, well-mannered. She didn’t make a mess when eating or make a mess everywhere and even nod (sort of) to anyone who was passing by. I even taught Violet some tricks. My favourite is the dodging any obstacles that comes near it because it is essential when being anywhere near the lady.
Come to think of it, I wonder what gender Violet is… I’ll try to ask the lady about it next time.
Though I wonder, why the lady choose me of all people?
