I wanna give a major trigger warning for gory details of the organs at the very end of this chapter. Gore of the human body, blood, slight hint of nudity, trauma etc. If you don’t feel comfortable with the topics I just said, please click off. Thank you.
Over the next few months, Sabre hadn’t murdered and he spent a lot of time with Roman and Landon. They went shopping, went on dates, and spent most of their time together. Sabre also started exploring talents again and found himself in the arts, he found it enjoyable. Roman loved seeing Sabre, his smiling face…It brought him some sort of peace. Happiness.
“Roman…Roman” Sabre shook his shoulder gently. Roman shook his head gently. “Hey, you alright?” Sabre asked softly, Roman smiled and nodded. “Yeah I’m alright, I just spaced out y’know?” He giggled softly while Sabre smiled lightly and laughed softly. “Yeah, I get it darling.” He said, Roman, blushed softly and looked away.
“I got you those sweaters as you wanted.” He grabbed out his bag showing Roman the sweaters. The man smiled and looked up at Sabre. “Honey you didn’t have to.” He giggled and grabbed one of them putting it on. “But I love it!” He hugged Sabre and smiled happily. “Are we gonna go see the play then?” He asked grabbing his lanyard. “Wait which play again?” Roman asked. “Remember I bought us tickets to see Six?” Roman fell quiet to think for a moment.
“Oh yeah! C’mon, let’s go I don’t wanna be late!” He ran out of the house and to the car. Sabre followed close behind unlocking the car and getting inside and putting his seatbelt on. Roman followed suit and felt frivolous when he felt the car start and move as it drove. Roman connected his phone to the car’s Bluetooth and began to play random songs. Sabre smiled softly since he didn’t mind and enjoyed most of the music anyways.
“🎜That's because I'm a good old-fashioned, fashioned…loverboy🎝” Sabre sang to the end of one of the songs that came on the radio by Queen. Roman giggled knowing Sabre loved some of the songs from the 1900s. Sabre was more used to enjoying the old songs than new ones since his family used to be all about old fashion, well that was until he stopped being homeschooled.
Roman and Sabre enjoyed their music until they parked and Sabre shut off the car. “Alright, we’re here! C’mon hun let’s get in we have a few minutes.” Sabre said enthusiastically and started walking. Roman chased after him since he had been left behind and then hugged his boyfriend’s arm.
Sabre was happily walking out of the building with Roman. Smiling happily and commented on how wonderful it was. Once they got in the car Sabre glanced at Roman while he was driving. “Hey, Roman. What do you wanna do when we get home?” He asked while Roman looked at him. “Uhm.. I don’t know.
“Hm…Oh! Maybe we can play monopoly! Whoever loses has to do the dishes.” Sabre grinned. “Ohoho, you’re on.” For the rest of the drive Sabre was humming to the radio. Most of the only sounds you heard were other cars roaring engines, the beeping of horns, and the low talking of people.
He kept driving and got out of the car once they had gotten home. He spoke to Roman in a low voice since he was very tired and set up the monopoly game before he set up a soaking bath for himself. Undressing he turned to the mirror and frowned. “The bandages…and the scars. Slowly he unwrapped the bandages, most people thought he was always hurt so that’s why he was wearing them, to heal current wounds. It was all a lie.
Scars…horrid scars. But they were scars. It was his expanding and deflating lungs. His ribs. His beating heart. It was his entire chest…could you even call it that..? He turned around looking at his back, which was under the bandages. No…that was gone too.. The rigid curves and cracks of his stacked vertebrae all piled onto what anatomy would call his spine. The slow outgoing curves of his ribs made it seem like fiction. Sabre slowly reached his hand towards his spine and nearly tripped falling onto the ground. He dropped a shampoo bottle.
“Sabre? You alright in there?” Roman asked worried, Sabre looked at the door. “Yeah I’m alright, just dropped my bottle.” “Oh alright.” He heard the footsteps of Roman slowly fade, he sighed and got up only to see a red stain on the ground. He shut his eyes tightly and turned away grabbing a towel and throwing it on the pool. He grabbed another towel to slowly and gently wrap his back.
Sabre was in tears though, the pain he had felt in that single moment felt like nothing he had been through. It was even worse than the gunshot…he looked back in the mirror, the gunshot….was diagonal… Cracked through one of his ribs and left a hole in his heart. He could see that hole, and he could hear the beating loud and clear. That thick crimson blood…No. Don’t think about that day. Don’t remember. Don’t remember.
He looked down at his arms. The muscle.. The decayed and rotted away tissue with the bone you could see. The rotted flesh but…if Roman hugged his bandaged arm he never felt the bone being touched. It was like his arms were still there…Sabre took a few minutes and soon got in. It took him a bit, sitting down in the bathtub only surrounded by the water he felt weird. He felt the water surrounding his muscles, the bones...His organs.
It made him shiver to the touch almost every time he moved but he wouldn’t speak to himself. He couldn’t utter a single word out when he was like this. Without his bandages, he was the complete definition of a walking corpse. He looked at his clean clothes and felt like the world stopped. Something is missing. The roll…The roll…bandages. Sabre silently cussed himself out while he turned to the door and took a deep breath.
“Hey, Roman? Can you get my bandages they’re in the bedroom?” He said loudly. He heard silence, then footsteps from upstairs, then out of nowhere a knock on the bathroom door. “Can I come in?” Roman asked turning the doorknob slightly. “Don’t look at me just…put it down and then walk out hun. Please,” he said softly. Roman did what Sabre said and then left the room clicking the door.
Sabre looked down at himself and sighed softly. He won’t love you anymore with all these wounds. You have to hide them or else he’ll leave you like Alek. He’s gonna leave us, hide it. HIDE it. HIDE. IT. His mind wandered and overwhelmed him. He groaned lowly from his slow-growing migraine and sank his head into the water.
He looked at himself from under the water. Under the water, he looked…much better. He looked at his chest and his heart looking more at ease, the tiny bubbles rising the surface whenever his heartbeat. His lungs expanded and deflated slowly. He felt a small smile creep onto his lips and he shut his eyes letting himself feel relaxed.
It felt like a few minutes but he lifted his head from the water but froze. The entire bathtub was full of blood. He got up quickly and looked disgusted and shocked. He realized it was he who was bleeding. He may have stayed in the water for way too long. He got out quickly and grabbed a towel wiping the blood off his body. He realized his hair was also drenched in blood, and he groaned in annoyance.
It only took him about…45 minutes. But he finally got all the blood off, all his hair dried, and his body wrapped up again. He got dressed and sighed softly. He then walked out of the bathroom after draining the water. He ran with all the towels to the laundry room and threw everything into the washer and then went back upstairs. “...Hun? Landon?” He searched around the house but it wasn’t hard to find them. They were in the bedroom, Sabre had a sigh of relief, as long as Roman and Landon were okay. He had some mental sanity.
