They finish their food, go out to the car and drive to the nearest clothes store. They both go in, going straight to the shirts section. Jack picks up 5 size small white shirts, leading Ethan to the changing rooms and telling him to try one on. He tried it on, it fitting him fine. They go back to the shirts and Jack picks up 3 black, size small shirts (for Ethan’s work).
Now they make their way to the black skinny jeans. “I can just re-wear the ones from school.” Ethan suggests. “So we get 5 and wash them more often ?” Ethan nods. So that’s what they do, pick up 5 pairs of small jeans. They also pick up a belt incase it’s still big on his waist, as Ethan’s waist is very slim.
Jack passes Ethan his car keys and says “Go wait in the car, I’ll be out soon.” Ethan hesitates, then leaves. Jack didn’t want Ethan to know how much all the clothes cost, since Jack is fine with paying for them but he knows Ethan won’t be fine with it.
He‘ll feel really guilty and also want to pay him back with his money he earns, Jack doesn’t want that. But he knows he’s going to have to accept the money anyway, since he already agreed, and regrets it.
When Jack gets back to the car, he places the bags in the boot and joins Ethan in the car.
Ethan: “How much was it ?”
Jack, pauses: “£100” he lies. He didn’t want Ethan paying him back the full amount, so this way Ethan was still paying him back like they’d agreed but not the full amount.
Ethan: “I’ll pay you back when I can.” Smiling at Jack. “Thank you for this. And for everything. I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”
When they’re home they change into more comfortable clothes. Ethan starts looking for affordable houses, not being successful but he’s still looking.
Jack: “Whach’ya doing ?”
Ethan laughs at Jack’s way of talking. He shows him his phone “Houses.”
Jack flops down next to Ethan. “Houses ?”
Ethan: “Yea, I’m trying to find something I can afford.”
Jack: “And ?”
