"How are you feeling?" Allon asked, biting down on his lip harshly, "New life, new body... not exactly what you were told."
Tsuru looked at her hands and clothes, seeing a purple set of pajamas on her. The same one's evira wore before she poisoned her, "There's got to be something wrong."
Allon shook his head, "No, everything is right... and the real Evira, she's dead."
Evira's mother, Caron walked towards them, "Oh Evira, im so glad you woke up. I was so worried about you." She touched her face pulling her hair back, "You got us so scared. I'm so glad Allon found you when he did."
"What happened to me?" Tsuru questioned looking at her hand averting eye contact.
What did she at least think happened to her? She couldn't process how things could go this wrong this soon.
"Allon found you suffocating in your room." The woman stated eyes looking down, "You were foaming and I panicked, I called the emergency services and we've been here an hour. Doctors don't know what caused it, they're still making tests."
"I'm sorry to worry you... m... mother?" Tsuru spoke, stuttering She looked up to meet Allons stare before looking back at Caron forcing out a smile to seem more like Evira, "Can you go check if they have anything to tell me."
Caron smiled back at her with a short nod as a response. Looking at Allon before standing and leaving the small hospital room, "I'll be back in a bit then, hopefully there's nothing wrong."
Allon walked to her side as soon as Caron exited, his mouth forming into a scowl, "Not what you expected, I know."
Tsuru looked down at her hands, thinking that this was Evira's body brought a shiver of regret through all of her, "What does this mean?!" She grabbed the sheets of the bed pulling at it hard to get them over her legs.
"It said new life didn't it, yeah I fell for that myself, but you get used to it." Allon sat on a corner of the bed looking away from her, "The body I possess now well... it belonged to a child." Allon mentioned recollecting his memories on the matter, "This is why I knew it wouldn't work. He wasn't my master, by my real masters body... he disintegrated, and this kid's body was the next thing."
"Why didn't you tell me then?" Tsuru growled, how could he keep such an important detail from her?
Allon sighed, "What for? You never listen. If I had told you, you wouldn't have believed me. You would have said i was making it up just so Evira could live." He lowered and grabbed a bag that hid from Tsuru's view, he brought it to his lap and dug through it.
She saw him searching but her thoughts wandered back to her regret, feeling as hot tears slipped down her cheeks, "I didn't want it to end like this. I thought it would work..."
"Really! You seemed quite determined!" He lost control over his voice, lowering it again brings the lamp out of the bag, "You watched her suffocate and then you say that, what happened to all your determination?"
"I need time, I apologize for... everything." Tsuru said, letting her head down and taking a deep breath, "I know she wasnt a bad person... and she didn't deserve it."
"Because she was innocent." Allon spat out as he crossed his arms. He didn't know what to do, feeling lost, confused even, but he understood where she came from.
She looked at her hands while her eyes were clouded with tears, having a hard time believing her body was not her body. The lamp had played yet another trick on her. A small number on her wrist caught her attention as she stared at it confused, not remembering to have seen it on Evira before. It glowed bright with the number twenty three very clear.
"Twenty-three, that's the number of years the body will last." Allon started rolling up his sleeves having extended his hand showing her his own number being a four, "I have four years left, the years go at random, some longer some shorter. Just like the first time in the lamp, some longer some shorter, you can still be killed though."
Tsuru turned her gaze away from her arm taking a deep breath, "I'm... I have plans, Allon. I'm leaving soon, got things to do."
He chuckled, "You want revenge." seeing her expression change he kept going, "Yeah, I know...you where a fool, fell into a stupid trap milleniums ago and now wanna go get revenge. Bad plan."
She shook her head and pulled her hair, "I have a plan. Find him and kill him. It'll be fast and clean... I'll be free."
Allon gripped the sheets, "You are free! No chins, no curse, no rules..." she stayed quiet, "Keir is immortal!" he lowered his voice as he finally noticed all the people staring, "You can't kill an immortal."
"What do you know? Hm? You seem quite informed."
Allon growled, pinching the bridge of his nose, "Everything, genies talk to each other even if it's just gossip. Nothing like seeing your old pal and asking about the revolution, how about the colonization then." he pointed at her, "And you've always been a big hit. The failure, the 'I'll be trapped for a billion years'. Look Tsuru... you made a mistake, everyone does, so let it go now."
"No." She said, "I'm getting Keir and I won't let things go until I do!" Her revenge was like the blood pumped in her veins being the only thing that would fuel her to live.
Allon shushed her seeing as a nurse walked by to check the room, "Everything alright here?"
"Yes, all fine. Just talking about games." Allon told her, letting the nurse think it was just casual conversation.
The nurse left and Allon stared back at her, "Well then, I sure do hope you don't plan on just walking out the door and finding him. Things have changed in three hundred years."
She looked up at him bitterly, "I can adapt."
"Go ahead then. Adapt, I'm sure you'll do fantastic."
"I will." Tsuru declared and slid out the bed, her legs wobbly.
He straight up laughed in her face, "Going to conquer the world without even walking straight. Way to go Einstein."
Looking puzzled she put her hands in the air, "I don't even know what that means."
"Evira's mom thinks you're her daughter." his expression changed, "What will you tell her? She's worried sick her baby girl almost died... well she did die. And now you're gonna walk away... what if this was your real mother?"
"Fine!" tsuru laid back against the bed, "I'll play along. I'll be Caron's little Evira. But I'm leaving eventually, I'm not going to play make believe for years like you... I am not their family."
She clicked her tongue, "How long do you have left of being a genie Allon... because I've got years ahead of me. Time to waste is all I really have."
"Yeah... I know you do. What happened to that generous genie everyone talked about? The one who stood up and comforted a child when his world turned apart... When I didn't understand what was happening." he wanted her to change, to drop her big plans and settle with the freedom she had.
Make her see that she'd done good in the past and could turn back on that way. That the so-called time to waste was just a pile of potential.
She glared shutting him off, "I tried to comfort you, but guess what, as a kid you didn't understand. And that same man who ruined my life was the one who eased your worries. Who made you believe this all to be a game. Gave you false hopes that kept a smile on your face, but look around... how many games have you played?!"
Allon was quiet, not knowing what to answer as Tsuru held her tongue. Wishing she could just disappear into smoke-like she always did in these situations.
Caron came in looking at both of them seeing Tsuru who she still believed to be her daughter out of bed where she shouldn't have been, "What's going on?"
"Everything's fine mom just can't believe all this happened. I'm scared." Tsuru told her reaching over at Caron holding her hand. Holding a frown upon her face as she looked at her.
Caron smiled trying to comfort her, giving a small squeeze to her hand, "Everything will be fine, we'll work things out. I'm going to sign some papers and I'll be right back. Just wanted to check on you again. Doctors didn't find anything but said they wanted to send you to a specialist." Caron took a deep breath, "We'll figure this out hunny." leaving the room once more as quickly as she had come back.
She looked towards Allon seeing him standing up, "Don't worry, it's just another fun little game."
Allon chewed up his lip making it red, "Yeah... a fun game. I hate you."
