The next morning, I was woken up by my personal maid at 5. I went to the bathroom to go have a shower and put on some sports leggings with a pale blue tank top, and the trainers I had packed earlier. I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair up into a messy bun and smiled at myself in the mirror. I look really good! I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my bag as well as my sketchbook and pencil. I headed to the kitchen after dropping my stuff by the front. "Good morning miss Kon, did you have a restful sleep?" The cook, Alistair asked when he saw me. I smiled. "I did, thank you," I replied.
"And, what would miss Kon like for her breakfast today?" He asked, his gaze wavering on one of his few cookbooks. "Just something simple for today! Oh, and Kenji can have whatever you make for me, just a larger portion," I replied, going to sit down in the secondary lounge. As Alistair began to make breakfast for my brother and me, I began sketching out what I imagined the camp would look like. When I finished my sketch, I smiled proudly then walked back to the front door to place my sketchbook in my bag. I checked the clock. 06:30 am. Was Kenji still asleep?
I walked over to Kenji's room and knocked thrice on his door. He didn't say anything so I knocked again, louder. I still received no response. I walked right into the room and scrunched up my nose. It smelt disgusting! Kenji of course, was still asleep, hanging off the side of his bed with all his stuff thrown about on the floor. So he didn't pack! If we are late... I swear he won't be having nice dreams about mermaids again! I quickly opened all the windows to let some fresh air into the room, then I went to his bathroom and took out an air freshener and sprayed it all around the room. There, at least it smells nicer now.
But now I need to pack his bag because there is no way he will remember after sleeping, after all, he always dreams about saving mermaids from sharks. I grabbed everything we needed from the list Claire had sent and packed it all neatly into Kenji's bag. After a few minutes, I finished packing his stuff and heard a knock at the door. One of Kenji's maids was waiting at the door. "Buenos Dias, Miss Kon," She nervously greeted me. "Hello Adélla, is something wrong?" I asked, smiling. "I needed to clean master Kenji's room before he woke, usually when his room gets really messy I-"
She peered around me and looked into Kenji's room which was neat because I had cleaned it whilst packing his stuff. "Has he already cleaned it? All by himself?" She asked me in disbelief, stepping into the room and looking around. "Oh, even his bag is packed!" She exclaimed pointing at my brother's bag which I had just packed. "I came to wake him but ended up cleaning his room. Sorry I've kind of done your job for you! I just couldn't stand seeing it in such a mess," I explained as she looked around the room, her eyes sparkling.
"You are such a help Miss Kon, gracias y mucho!" Adélla beamed, curtsying as she walked out of the room and headed back to the Maid's quarters. I smiled as I watched her leave the room, then frowned as I turned back to my older brother. If he can sleep through that, then it means one thing. Drastic times take drastic measures! I took hold of his covers and flung them to the other side of the bed, then I pulled the mattress and he rolled out of bed and onto the cold floor. He jumped up gasping and looked around the room quickly until he saw me, his expression changing to one filled with annoyance.
"Sorry Kenji, did I wake you?" I innocently asked whilst holding a giggle. "Kiara, what was that for! I was having a great dream about-" "Saving mermaids from sharks? Again?" I finished, giving him a look. He blinked then rolled his eyes. "Just go shower, and I packed your bag for you, little liar," I said to him as I did a little wave and started heading out of the room to go enjoy the food Alistair had made. Speaking of food, "Hey Kenji?" I stopped in the doorway and turned to him. "Yeah?" "The chef has made us breakfast so you might wanna hurry up before it gets cold," I left the room and went to go eat my food by the bar beside the kitchen.
After a few minutes, Kenji came out of his room wearing his favourite sunglasses, his blue sweatshirt, and some tan shorts. "Wow, you look amazing," I said, as I gestured for him to sit beside me. 'I know, I always do," He proudly smirked, as Alistair gave us our breakfast. It was fried eggs with bacon sandwiches! "Delicious!" I said as I took a bite, the chef beginning to smile. Kenji waved him away and began to devour his meal, not hesitating to take the largest bites he could. I shook my head and ate my food with actual manners, making sure the pieces I bit weren't too large.
After a few moments, we both had finished our breakfast so I went to go get his bag and brought it to the front door, just as our Dad and Candy came out of my Dad's private study. I stared silently at the two of them. Dad was in his best suit and Candy was in an extremely expensive looking red dress with countless gold jewellery. "Um, where are you going Dad?" Kenji asked confusedly. He turned to us with a blank stare. "Your father and I will be going on a business trip while you two go camping," Candy explained with a pitying smile. Dad nodded. "When you get back from camp, the maids will look after you."
He then checked his watch and said to us, "My private helicopter crew will be taking you two to camp. They are already waiting outside." Kenji and I looked at each other, then picked up our bags. "We're ready," We both said, as our dad nodded. He then opened the door and took us towards the helicopter pad. Kenji and I were helped into the helicopter and we sat at the back whilst Candy and our Dad sat at the front. Between us, three bodyguards sat, silent and still as statues. Kenji and I placed our bags by our feet and he closed his eyes, not asleep but not entirely awake either.
I took out my headphones and pressed play, the slowed songs on my playlist beginning to play. Once my headphones disconnect from my phone, I would only be able to play lofi beats. I rested my head on the back of the seat and stared out the window, awaiting Camp Cretaceous.
