Darius and I were led through the jungle, far away from the revolting mould of dino droppings. As we moved, Darius tapped my shoulder with a worried expression. "Is he going to get us lost?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders. Kenji didn't know the park as well as I did seeing as he rarely paid attention unless there was some new dangerous dinosaur being put on display. Unfortunately for us, I had no idea how to get to the carnotaur paddock, which is where we were clearly headed, since I had gone there by plane, unlike Kenji who had walked with some of the park staff.
"We can only hope that Kenji remembers the way," I said, turning my attention from Darius to my brother who was looking around with a scarcely confused yet still confident expression. Darius' tense look only became worse. "If we get lost, we can just go back the way we came!" I said, taking his hand and squeezing it gently. "Isn't that right Kenji?" I called out, my brother turning to look at us and nodding before walking headfirst into a tree. He fell back and landed on the ground with a thud, as Darius and I giggled. "Oops," I said, giving him my hand and helping him stand. "Thanks," Kenji said, analysing the tree he had walked into.
He then began to smirk, Darius giving him a look. "Are we here?" Darius asked, tilting his head doubtfully. Kenji nodded, "Yeah, see." He crouched down and pressed a green button that was hidden by grass, a metal trapdoor on the other side of the tree opening. It revealed a tunnel with a ladder latched on the side. "Ka-ching!" Kenji exclaimed, holding his hand out into the blackness. "Where does this tunnel go?" Darius asked, peering into the tunnel. "This tunnel is part of an underground network connecting the whole island. This is how the big dogs get around. You're actually looking at Jurassic World VIP, kid," Kenji explained smugly.
With that, he jumped into the shadows and disappeared from our view. Darius glanced at me and sheepishly said, "Ladies first!" I smiled and jumped into the tunnel, holding onto the ladder last minute and landing softly on the concrete ground. After a few moments, Darius climbed down the ladder and Kenji flicked the switch, the lights turning on. Kenji had a smirk on his face and had his arms crossed while Darius looked excited, nervous and worried at the same time! "You still bummed about that genetics lab?" Kenji asked smugly. I rolled my eyes. I would much rather like to be there. Darius just smiled. 'Let's go," Kenji said, walking down the tunnel.
Darius and I followed after him but it was really frustrating for me! Being the shortest one here just made keeping up with them much harder. After a while, Darius asked, "For real though, where are you taking us?" His eyes began to sparkle as he said, "Are we seeing a secret Trex or a rare sauropod?" Kenji chuckled, shaking his head with a grin. "Kid, Kenji has something better than a rare sauropod. We're headed to where they quarantine the dinos that are too aggro. The last one I saw here was some kind of carna... carna something." Darius gasped in surprise and I couldn't help but smile. He was like a giddy school girl!
The carnotaur Kenji and I had seen was amazing though I was almost as scared of him as I was raptors. He had two horns that made him look similar to a bull which is why we had nicknamed him, Toro! The name definitely suited him. "We are going to see a carnotaur!?" Darius screamed, slapping his palms to the side of his face. "That's like, one of my top favourite dinos!" I grinned as Kenji replied. "Sweet right? The park actually offered to name it after me, but I was like, 'Nah I'll hold out for something cooler'." Kenji then continued. "I figured you'd like it, you know, as thanks. Which is for you know, not being a narc when-"
"So there is a carnotaurus right up there?" Darius excitedly interjected, looking at the ceiling of the tunnel. I nodded, "Yep!" "Obviously," Kenji scoffed, "Like my boy Masrani always says, when Kenji promises, Kenji delivers!" He then bent over the control box we had now stopped by and pressed one of the buttons. Nothing happened. Darius gave him an expectant look and I silently laughed with my back turned. If this isn't going to work, we may as well go back and finish that punishment before we get into trouble. Kenji then continued pressing buttons and on the fourth or fifth try, the latch above began to open.
He sighed in relief then turned to us with a smug look. "Let's go melt your nerd-brain, junior." Darius just couldn't help but smirk.

We climbed out of the tunnel and we stared at where we were. Although we were back in the jungle, I was certain we were far from the revolting droppings mountain. Kenji began to walk off, scrutinizing the jungle. Darius and I quickly followed after him. "You do know where you're going, right?" Darius asked, sounding suspicious. "Trust me, I got this on lock... The pen is that way," Kenji hesitantly replied. As we continued to move forwards I heard Darius mutter, "What am I doing?" He sighed and followed after us. We walked for a good five minutes before my legs began to ache. "Kenji, I'm tired!" I complained, my head and arms drooping.
Kenji looked back and gave me a look before groaning. "Ugh! WHere is that stupid fence?" He yelled, throwing his hands in the air. Darius stared at Kenji pityingly. "Maybe we should head back? We don't want to get caught and cause trouble with your dad," He suggested. Kenji glared at it, "What does my dad have to do with anything? Dude's barely around. He isn't worried about me or Kiara!" He snapped, Darius watching him with an infuriated expression. Oh, brother... "Then what was all the, 'My whole life I've been trying to make my dad proud, junior'?" Darius said, mocking Kenji. I shook my head and smirked at Kenji.
"And that's when you knew, you screwed up," I said, Kenji casting a look that said shut up, in my direction. He slowly turned to face Darius and scratched his cheek. "Oh right, I was lying? Cause of the whole not wanting to get in trouble and sent home thing," Kenji admitted, Darius folding his arms, not buying it. "Forgive me for not wanting to spend the summer alone!" Kenji exclaimed. I stood on tiptoes and flicked the side of his cheek at his stupidity. Has he already forgotten the many summers we have spent together? In fact every summer we have been together!
He winced and flashed me a glare as Darius looked like he would explode. And he did. "I can't believe this!" Darius yelled, Kenji rolling his eyes. "Calm down, I keep it honest!" he said, "Except this morning and like, a bunch of other times today... But I'm telling the truth about this!" "Great! Kiara and I are out here for no reason and we'll all probably get sent home and it's all because of you!" Darius shouted, taking a hold of my arm and pulling me to his side. I could feel my cheeks heating up but they didn't notice, luckily. "Fine, whatever. Last time I try to do something nice for a dumb kid. C'mon Kiara, let's just go," Kenji said, raising his hand and gesturing for me to follow him.
He actually knew the way back so I began to follow after him, only to be pulled back once more by Darius. "She isn't going to follow you. You don't even know where we are!" Darius said, turning me around and pushing me away from Kenji. What is going on?... "Yes, I do! And besides, she's my sister, of course, she is going to follow me!" Kenji retorted, pulling me back. "Can you guys stop arguing!?" I started to say before my voice was drowned out by a loud clang. That can only come from one thing; a fence. The carnotaur enclosure fence. I looked at Kenji and Darius and they stared back at me, confused.
This day was becoming curiouser and curiouser...
