We were spun in circles, rushing through the jungle, screaming as we became dizzy. After a while, the gyrosphere came to a stop and once when I was no longer dizzy, I unbuckled my seatbelt. I tried to open the gyrosphere door, but it didn't. It was jammed. I peered out the glass to see where we had actually ended up, but I didn't recognise the area. And, I've been all over the park... This was bad! When Darius and Brooklynn stopped seeing the world upside down, they began to laugh, relieved. As they unbuckled their seatbelts, I turned to Brooklynn.
"What crazy idea was going through your head when you decided to go up to the sinoceratops?" I asked Brooklynn, scowling. She shrugged. "Sorry, I didn't know that it would do that," Brooklynn replied, glancing outside of the gyrosphere. "Hey, atleast we are safe!" Darius said optimistically. Brooklynn's eyes widened and she went white. "You might want to think again.." She whispered, crawling away from the glass. What does she mean? Darius and I looked out the glass, this time, my attention more focused on where we had actually landed. We were in some type of mud, only, we were... sinking?
"On no..." I breathed, thunder crashing and rocking through the sky. "We are sinking!" Darius exclaimed, stating the obvious. "What do we do?"I asked, squeezing the sides of my seat. Why do I keep getting into life or death situations? First with the raptors, then Toro, and now this!? Universe, please, just give me a break! "How do we get out?" Brooklyn exclaimed, crawling through the small gap between mine and Darius' seat and peering through the front. She had pushed me into Darius while she took up space in an attempt to locate a way to escape. Darius gasped as though in realization.
"I have an idea!" He cried, taking a hold of the joystick and driving out. That seemed to work momentarily and we cheered, glad to be out of this near-death disaster. Then we noticed something. We were only sinking in deeper... "That should have worked," I said, pressing my lips together as I stared at the growing dark line of mud. "It didn't work?" Brooklyn said, confused. She whipped her head around to see if we were still sinking and her loose pink locks attacked my face. "Ugh!" I winced, throwing my head against Darius' torso in order to getaway. When Brooklynn stopped flicking her hair, I looked up and saw that Darius was blushing.
"Sorry," I murmured, pulling away. "I guess we are really stuck now, huh," Brooklyn said, crossing her arm as she took up half the space of my seat. We delve into silence for a few minutes, my gaze only on the line that just kept growing higher and higher. It reached my knees already! A loud beeping noise suddenly alerted us, it was coming from our radios! "We can call for help!" I exclaimed, Brooklynn clicking the side of her headset. "Help! Can anyone help us? We're stuck in a mudhole and we're sinking! Help!" She said loudly into the radio. No other sound was heard from the radio and we knew Brooklynn's words hadn't gone through.
"What if they don't find us... We really will die. This is almost as bad as being with the raptors..." I said, tucking myself into a ball in the very limited space I had. "Don't worry Kiara, they will definitely find us! We'll be ok," Darius smiled, hoping to boost my spirits. In a way he did so I returned his kind smile but now more worrying thoughts were flooding my mind and I couldn't help but- "Somebody! Please, help!" Brooklyn screamed, cupping her hands to amplify her voice. "Help!" She continued before flopping on my seat and sighing. "It's no use," She muttered.
Darius frowned and kicked at the gyrosphere door but to our dismay, his plan hadn't worked. The door didn't budge. "It won't budge. The mud is jamming the door shut!" Darius told us, letting out an impatient sigh. "Try driving out again," Brooklyn suggested whole I gave her a look. "We tried that and it only made us sink faster," I reminded her as she frowned in annoyance. "You think of something then!" She exclaimed. Crossing her arms as she stared out the glass. "Calm down Brooklynn. Kiara hasn't even done anything wrong! I anything, this is my fault," Darius snapped as I smiled appreciatively.
Brooklyn closed her eyes and tiredly turned to look at me. "Sorry," She muttered before looking back. More silence engulfed us. After ages, the mud had reached what would be my chest if I was standing. It had only reached just above Darius and Brooklynn's knees. The silence continued to suffocate us and eventually, tears formed in Brooklynn's eyes. Darius stared out into the jungle with longing, hoping the others would come soon. We all watched the mud slowly rise, near to closing at the top. "Brooklynn! Darius! Kiara!" Sammy's voice broke through our headsets, giving us the scare of a lifetime.
"Hello, Sammy?" Darius immediately replied, our hope rising drastically. "Do you read me? We are coming to help!" Sammy said as I smiled. "We're saved!.." I whispered, clasping my hands together tightly. That's when I heard their voices, the other campers! But it wasn't from the headsets, it was from outside. They were here! I stood up and thumped against the glass yelling, "Over here!" Brooklyn and Darius stood up and did the same. "Get us out of here!" "Help!" I peered through the glass and saw Kenji and Yaz rush over to our gyrosphere, trying to pull it out. Yaz groaned frustratedly.
"I can't grab ahold of it!" She yelled. "It's too heavy!" Kenji said, closing his eyes as he used all his strength to try and pull the gyrosphere out. It wasn't working... Ben suddenly ran to the edge of the mud screaming, "Guys! It's going to pull you under!" Kenji and Yaz swiftly moved back, staring worriedly at the sinking gyrosphere. By now, I had to stand on tiptoe to see what was going on. "Uh, guys?" ben then whispered, shivering as the sinoceratops that had caused this mess emerged from the jungle. He slowly moved back, tripping over a branch and hitting the ground with a small cry.
The Sinoceratops bellowed, stepping forwards. Sammy dropped to the ground in pure shock. She stared at it silently then got up. "Guys, I have an idea," She told us softly, walking in the direction of the dinosaur and passing Ben. As she did, she picked up the branch he had tripped over and dragged it towards the sinoceratops. "What are you doing!?"Yaz exclaimed in a hushed voice, watching after Sammy as she moved closer to the sinoceratops. Sammy remained silent as the dinosaur growled, momentarily scaring Sammy who stopped to breathe in deeply. She continued making her way over to the sinoceratops and when she did, stood in front of it with a kind smile.
