Dad’s death has destroyed my Mom, she loved him so dearly. She became an obsessed, depressed mess. She had her husband's body encased in plaster and ceramic and created a wig and a mustache out of his hair. She completed the look with black pebbles and a pair of glasses. She had it set in a seated position and placed it on our Dad’s favorite armchair. I was only 10 then, so you can only speculate how unnerved I was at what I saw when I returned from school one day. I can remember just about having a heart attack when I saw this white figure sitting in the armchair, I was creeped out even further when I saw that my Mom was sitting in the chair opposite from it. She was staring at it longingly, I then noticed that it had a real-looking head of hair and a mustache. It was clear that this was intended to be a likeness of our late Dad. About a month or so later, I noticed that my Mom has been talking to this statue at night. I could remember one of her sentences to this macabre effigy…
“If only I could be in your arms again…”
One night, I had a talk with my older brother, we both agreed that this is going too far. We decided to pull a mean prank on our Mom. We gathered the following materials, a white hoodie, white pants, white shoes, white socks, a wig, a fake mustache, and a pair of glasses. A friend of mine wanted to pitch in, during a sleepover, my brother got into the costume. We originally planned to move the statue to another spot and have my brother sit in it’s place, he is to jump out at my Mom when she tries to have another one of her nightly talks. As we began to move the statue to the garage, I noticed that its hair was warm! I shrugged it off thinking it was nothing, we placed the statue in a lawn chair in the garage. My brother took his place, we waited and waited, but mom did not come out.My brother had to get up and go to the restroom, I waited for him. Soon, I began to feel sleepy. In my last moments before unconsciousness, I sighted a white figure open mom’s door, I fell asleep thinking that it’s just my brother checking on mom. The next morning, I got curious and went to look for mom, she was nowhere to be found. We went to check on the statue in the garage, it was gone, I could see one pair of footprints leading back into the house. My little brother came in and said that he saw what had happened, I asked and here was his answer…
“He came and granted her wish”
