Smartphone screen or desktop keyboard, that's what I am first looking for every time I wake up. Since the pandemic from COVID-19 began in the early year of 2020, most people who are super attached to technology like me, boosted our way of earning money through the power of blockchain technology. Cryptocurrencies became a huge opportunity for people like us, specially here in our country of Philippines.
GPU crypto mining, crypto staking, crypto trading, liquidity pool or DeFi yield farming from decentralized exchanges, crypto games, and non-fungible token or NFT minting, those are what become one of the most popular source of income during those times were lockdowns are almost endless. One of the biggest things for most people who just recently lost their jobs that are looking for profit. Cryptocurrencies are one of the first choices because it was easy to buy and access.
So my older sister and I, who are living in Taytay City, Rizal. We've learned how to read crypto trading price chart patterns which is also called technical analysis and doing a lot of our own research to the crypto project which is also called fundamental analysis. My sister, as a pulmonologist in a government hospital, always receives stimulus funds. As she receives stimulus funds, she's investing the 40% of it all to both Bitcoin and Ethereum because she really hates banks, of course me also, I hate banks too! Why? Because of fractional-reserve banking!
Well, now, you're maybe wondering what fractional-reserve banking is all about. To be simple, let's make a sample scenario. You deposit your money in the bank, then banks will lend your money to other people or banks, so they can earn more money from its interest! So, you don't really have your physical money in the bank, you'll only get numbers in a database! When all bank depositors withdraw all their money at the same time, there is no doubt that they will close the bank immediately because they screwed up by lending out almost all of their money!
Anyway, the other 20% of her stimulus, she's giving it all to me and letting me decide the hell I want to invest. As a Cardano maxi, the profits that I am making from diversifying, mining, staking, yield farming and crypto gaming are all ending up in buying $ADA or Cardano. That's my ultimate thing ever! But hey, this is not financial advice!
The rest 40% of her stimulus was a problem because she is secretly buying random low cap coins without doing a deep research first about the project! As a result, many of them are rug pulls! A rug pull in the crypto industry is when the developer or a team of developers suddenly abandons a project and sells or removes all its liquidity. The name comes from the phrase to pull the rug out from under (someone), meaning to withdraw support unexpectedly. That's why I labeled my older sister a crypto degen.
As time went by, people found their way to adjust from this pandemic situation so a lot of things became the new norm. A standard pretty techie eight grader teenage girl like me, a kind of person who hates attending classes at school has no choice but to attend this new kind of norm! The online version of school classes! For me, academics doesn't really make sense at all anymore, because you can search almost everything online to search engines on the internet!
Since almost all my energy was spent on crypto research, crypto games, and fixing my GPU powered crypto mining rigs. I always sleep super late, mostly at dawn, so I always feel groggy during these online classes. Most of the time, I am just writing down the topic of our class then taking a nap so I can later search those things on online search engines.
Sometimes, when my older sister caught me taking a nap during our online class session. She's pulling up my head and forcing me to open my eyes slowly in front of my camera. Being surprised by my classmates' laughter, I always inadvertently recite these words loudly while standing, "My name is Patricia Maggie Dela Cruz! I am 14 years old! I live in Taytay City, Rizal!" I don't know, whatever, but I always thought our attendance checking was still ongoing! It was so embarrassing every time she was doing that because I drool every time I sleep, so I am always ending up splashing out my drool from my mouth when speaking every time I wake up! Eww! That is the way she always bullies me.
