Chasing Reflection

“So, how is it?" Kinnosuke was waiting for Mori’s cousin, Ueda Joji, to finish his sketch. Ueda was too focused on sketching, he didn’t even hear Kinnosuke’s remark.

“Stop. Don’t disturb Ueda!” Inagaki gave him a warning and slapped Kinnosuke’s head.

“I want to show you all that I’m not imagining things. This is real. That guy is real!” He then went back to Ueda’s side. He pulled his knees against his chest, “So, how is it? You understood my explanation, right?”

“Yeah, yeah…” Still drawing, Ueda kind of ignored Kinnosuke.

Not long after, Ueda handed the sketch to Kinnosuke to ask his opinion—whether it was in accordance with Kinnosuke's wishes. He brought the sketch in front of the mirror, then matched the reflection in the mirror with the sketch. Kinnosuke's face brightened as if he had won a billion yen lottery.

"Yes! Correct! Here he is!" Then he turned to greet Ueda, "Thanks a lot for your help, Ueda!" He happily showed the sketch to Inagaki and Mori who were already curious at the god level. They ran closer as fast as lightning.

Their first reaction was to scream and whistle because Ueda's sketch seemed real and also because the man who had been in the mirror's reflection had indeed proven to be incredibly cute. Inagaki really couldn't control himself. He jumped happily as he held Kinnosuke's hand.

"Isn't he a celebrity? He looks like a celebrity!” Inagaki was more excited than Kinnosuke.

Mori joined in, "I don't know, but he does seem like a famous person."

"Mori! Please scan this image, then we'll find this person.” Kinnosuke ordered Mori to scan the image and then looked for similarities in the police database. Ueda, who was an intern at the police station, didn't mind Mori's illegal actions at all, even though he had previously warned him.

Mori stopped his activities, then he looked at Kinnosuke, Ueda, and Inagaki, “Uhm, I don't think I can find this man in the national police database. He's not a criminal."

The three of them froze for a moment. Just remembered that Mori should’ve hacked the statistics bureau instead of the national police. However, said Mori, security in the statistics bureau was actually tighter, making it difficult to hack.

Desperate, Kinnosuke held his head, then curled up on the floor. Inagaki and Mori looked at him with pity. Meanwhile, Ueda, who knew nothing about it, suggested something that the three of them had never thought of.

"How about posting it online? You know, when something goes viral, it's very easy to find someone." Ueda suggested. Kinnosuke's face brightened again. He was very excited to make the sketch viral on the internet.

Kinnosuke called someone for help. It turned out to be Misaki, one of his schoolmates who posted the photo of Kinnosuke and Mr. Matsuoka. He had friends from various high schools and that was why Kinnosuke’s photo quickly became viral in other high schools.

“Misaki, in return for that time—you shared my photo with Mr. Matsuoka—now you have to help me. Tweet the sketch I sent to your Twitter DM.”

“Now? What’s the caption?”

Kinnosuke glanced at Inagaki for help. His best friend rolled his eyes and snatched the phone from Kinnosuke's hand, "Caption: Kinnosuke Hiro made a big mistake to this man and wants to apologize personally. Please help Kinnosuke do good. P/S: apology will be broadcasted live on Instagram."

Misaki's voice sounded so excited to accept this noble task, “Really? Wow, this will be viral. I will help you!”

“Don't forget to mention Kinnosuke's Twitter so they can contact him. Okay, thanks Misaki.”

The four of them decided to have dinner while waiting for Misaki's report afterward. Kinnosuke's cell phone vibrated because of his Twitter notifications. His direct message was flooded with people telling him about the guy in the sketch, but he decided to ignore them.

It was Mori's words that took them by surprise, "Guys, looks like Misaki changed the caption." He showed his Twitter timeline full of retweets about Kinnosuke and the sketch guy.

Kinnosuke Hiro was about to confess his love for this man but he couldn't find it. Help Kinnosuke find his true love. The love confession will be broadcasted live on Instagram.

“DAMN YOU, MISAKI!”

Instead of worrying, the three of them laughed at Kinnosuke while commenting on Misaki’s tweet.

“It's okay Kinnosuke. This will make it easier to spread the sketch anyway. Everything that had to do with love would definitely go viral. After all, they want to know how your love story goes." Ueda patted Kinnosuke's shoulder while holding back a laugh.

"Well, we'll just have to wait for the results. Maybe someone recognizes that guy."

Just as Mori finished his sentence, Kinnosuke's Twitter notification flashed on his cell phone’s screen. Someone DM-ed him. The four of them circled Kinnosuke to read the message.

@ayumi0215

Kinnosuke-san, sorry to interrupt. I think I know this guy, but he used to have short hair. He was a senior in my high school. His name is Yukihide Shota. This is a graduation photo.

Kinnosuke zoomed in on the photo sent by that person. There are some similarities between the sketch and the photo, but the man in the photo has plump cheeks with a gloomy expression. Unlike Ueda's sketch—the man had a big smile on his face and looked very sweet.

@kinnohiro

Do you know where I can find Yukihide Shota?

@ayumi0215

Sorry, I don't know where he goes to college. He is a gloomy senior, I didn’t dare to approach him.

@kinnohiro

Can I message you again if I need help?

@ayumi0215

Sure. I hope you find him soon.

@kinnohiro

Thank you!

Kinnosuke slammed his phone on the couch. He huffed, “I only know his name, Yukihide Shota. Nobody knows where he is now."

“I can try something.” Mori typed something on his laptop, then his lips curved upwards. He showed his laptop’s screen to them, “I present to you: Yukihide Shota, an art major student, second semester, Gakugei University.”

On the screen, there was a photo that looked like the sketch Ueda made. Kinnosuke had goosebumps all over his body. Never has he known that the person in his reflection turned out to be real.

Yukihide Shota.

What will you do if every time you look at the mirror and the reflection you see is someone else's?

Kinnosuke Hiro realized that his reflection became someone else's who he didn't even know. He asked for help from his friends to find out what happened. With the help of the internet, the drawing of the person in Kinnosuke’s reflection went viral and someone told him that this person’s name was Yukihide Shota.

And their love life began.
