“so how are you feeling now” Max asked intently at Caroline and she tried to answer with the surest way she possibly could. He had been here for a while now. After seeing the text from Caroline he went to her place so he could spend the day with her and also talk.

Caroline was feeling better but she still couldn’t get her mind off the dream she had the night before. As excited as she was, she couldn’t tell Max or anyone what had happened. It was strange to her but there was nothing she could do for now.

“Hello?” Max snapped his fingers at Caroline “Earth to Caroline?” She was jolted from her thoughts and Max had a serious look on his face “Are you sure you are alright?”

“Yeah perfectly fine” Caroline smiled “Anyway you have some explaining to do” sitting upright on the bed she faced Max who was sitting on the chair that was close to her study desk.

“Me? How come?” Max asked feigning ignorance on what Caroline was trying ti inquire which resulted to a pillow landing on his face.

“Don’t mess with me Max or are you seriously not considering Chris?” Caroline looked slightly pissed now and Max held the pillow that was thrown at him closely to his chest trying to look at everywhere except her.

“I don’t really know. I’m not sure what to do” He finally said.

Caroline was lying again with both hands supporting her chin on the bed “Well before that, I need to know what caused the whole charade of emotions”

“It was not a charade” Max said almost immediately. Noticing his outburst Max suddenly coiled into his chair averting his eyes from Caroline. After a while, Max reiterated his encounter with Chris and by the time he was through he was almost close to crying and Caroline sat closer to him and tried to get him to calm down.

“I guess I’ll have to apologize” Max said feeling a lot better after he finished speaking.

“Yeah, you guys would need to really talk about everything. Plus you don’t have to blame yourself for that. I just think you were looking out for yourself especially with what happened with Jason” Max nodded with his head down but finally raised his head to look at Caroline and she gave him a hearty smile. They were quiet for a while both not having anything to say for the meantime until Max broke the silence.

“So what exactly made you text me at almost 2am?” with one swift motion, Max left the chair and plumped himself on the bed staring boringly at the ceiling.

Caroline froze, she had looking through one her mom’s magazines and wasn’t sure what to reply to that question or she did know what to say but she mostly couldn’t tell him so she tried to change the topic. “I was just bored, and I couldn’t sleep so I just texted”

“Hmm ok if you say so” Max replied not so positively but she didn’t ask further. For the rest of the day they both talked about random issues especially at school.
