‘’ Val , what’s going on ? Why are you all here , I’m not in the mood right now ‘’ I said while taking a seat beside Rainier on one of the couches .

‘’ As you walked out earlier Mila  during the briefing , We needed to let you know that the mission has changed , I have new information from your parents ‘’ He said while sitting down on the couch that Matteo and Ryder were sitting on .

‘’ What could possibly have changed now ? , and also couldn’t you have just texted this to me . That’s why we have a group chat ‘’ I said while rolling my eyes .

‘’ Well it’s -’’ Valerian was in the middle of saying when Luka walked into the living room not aware of anyone else in the room .

‘’ Emilia , can I ask yo–, Omg I’m so sorry , I didn’t know you had company ‘’ He said while backing away little by little .

‘’ It’s okay Luka , no need to apologise , my friends were about to leave ‘’ I said while standing up from the couch .

‘’ Oh Mila , I didn’t know we were friends , I feel honoured ‘’ Ryder said while getting up from the couch . This is exactly why I tolerate Ryder .

‘’ Shut it Ryder , You're seriously not helping ‘’ I said while gritting my teeth .

‘’ Mila we need to talk about the briefing and Who is this boy ? ‘’ Valerian said while standing beside me .

‘’ The briefing can wait. We leave tonight, don't we? You can tell me on the way ‘’  I said, getting agitated by their presence , but I didn’t want to make a scene in front of Luka .

‘’ Who are you kid? ‘’ Valerian said, taking a step forward .

‘’ My names Luka ‘’ Luka said shyly 

‘’ Well Luka , my name's Valerian Shadowblood and I’m Mila’s cousin .

‘’ Nice to meet you Valerian ‘’ Luka said while looking down at his feet 

‘’ Hi Luka , I’m Ryder and this is my parabatai Matteo and that’s Rainier , he’s Valerian’s parabatai ‘’ . Ryder said while looking at Luka curiously .

‘’ Hello ‘’ Luka said while getting even more nervous .

‘’ Okay well , I think that’s enough greetings for today , I need to get my stuff together and so do ye and plus you're making Luka uncomfortable ‘’ . I said while standing in front of Luka .

Before Ryder could pipe up again with more nonsense , Matteo started to push Ryder towards the front door followed by Rainier . Valerian was the last to leave my apartment . 

When the door shut behind Valerian , I turned towards Luka to find him already staring at me . 

‘’ I’m sorry about them , they can be very full on ‘’ I said while taking a few steps back from him .

‘’ It’s okay , they seem very fun to be around ‘’ He said while moving towards one of the couches .

‘’ Fun is probably the last word that I would have used to describe them , annoying is the word I would have used ‘’ I said before sitting on the opposite couch away from him .

‘’ Have they always called you Mila? ‘’ He said briefly, looking at me .

‘’  Valerian and my family have always called me Mila instead of Emilia and my friends started calling me Mila when they heard Valerian calling me it. Why ? ‘’ I asked him .

‘’ I wanted to ask if I could give you a nickname ‘’ He said shyly .

‘’ Sure , Whatever you want , I don’t mind . Only you can call me by that name alright no one else , but you can’t say it in front of Ryder cause he will make my life hell ‘’ I said while taking out my stele and messing with it .

‘’ How about Lia , Can I call you Lia ‘’ He said, looking up at me .

‘’ Sure , I like it , can I call you one? ‘’ I said .

‘’ How about Lu ‘’ I said .

‘’ I love it , thanks for allowing me to stay here Lia ‘’ He said .

‘’ Not at all Lu , We’re friends after all and I think we will get on quite well ‘’ I said with a genuine smile that I don’t show very often .

‘’ What did you want to ask me earlier when you walked into the living room? ‘’ I said before standing up from the couch .

‘’ I wanted to ask about your family even though I met another one of you a while ago ‘’ He said, looking straight at me .

‘’ What would you like to know ? ‘’ I was curious to know why Luka wanted to know about my family .

‘’ Everything ‘’ He said .

‘’ Well , I have a twin brother called Skyler , I have two older twin brothers and two younger twin brothers . My father is the inquisitor of Idris and my mother is a stay at home mom . They all live in Idris except Skyler , he lives in the institute here in New York . As you already know I’m a hybrid and as is Skyler and the rest of my family except for Valerian , he’s a full blooded shadowhunter same as his parents . You can probably tell that my family is crazy rich and that’s about it . How about you ? ‘’ I said after my long paragraph about my family . I only told Luka the basics about my family as nobody is supposed to know any more than that .

‘’ I have an older brother and sister and a loving mother. I wish I could say that my father was loving towards me but he wasn't. I'm from the blood moon pack and I’m an omega , the weakest wolf in the pack and the most submissive. I came out to my family about being gay a few weeks ago and my mother and sister were accepting but my father and brother were not and I’m still waiting to meet my soulmate . My father was the former beta of the pack before my older brother took over his position with the new Alpha who is also my brother’s best friend . On top of all that I was bullied by pack members and I never want to go back ‘’ Luka said with tears running down his face .

I never knew that wolf packs could be that cruel and uncaring towards other pack members but to me Luka went through a similar childhood that I went through . I might not know what it is like to be bullied by my superiors because I was a superior but I know what mental torment feels like and my twin brother was the only thing keeping me sane . 

I went over to the couch that Luka was sitting on and I pulled him in for a hug which I never do for anyone , not even Skyler . Luka was changing me and I could feel it from the minute I met him but changing me will only get us both hurt in the end and I need to stop as soon as possible before it becomes uncontrollable . 

‘’ You will never go back there Luka , I promise that I won’t let them hurt you anymore ‘’ I said while leaving Luka sob on my shoulder .
