Quentin woke up, turning his head to see Kaihou was still sleeping. He got up quickly and answered it.
Lily barged in, holding a large bag in one hand. "Rise and shiiiine! I brought some of Ah Ma's leftovers since I know you love them." She laid the bag on the island and began to take out the tupperware.
The artist panicked, remembering Kaihou was still in the room and how much Lily tried to avoid interacting with crime. "Ooh! Great, you can just leave those here and go on your way."
"Nope! You look like you haven't smacked concrete in a decade, so I'm treating you to a gossip sesh as well to see what's up."
He walked over, intentionally on the other side of the island to cover her line of sight. "How'd you know?"
"You have 54 hours of Xianxia Impact straight on Harmony right now."
Quentin quickly spoke to defend himself, "I fell asleep and the computer was on! S-something came up?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm sure something came." She looked across from him at the head of blonde poking out of the couch.
"It's- it's just a friend who stayed over!" He frantically went over to block Lily from reaching him, but it was too late.
"Who do we ha- AHHHHHHHHHHH!" She jumped up seeing Kaihou's face, finally waking him up. "That's the guy from the coffee shop! Kaihou-motherfucking-Munasawagi from those Lotus freaks!"
Kaihou groaned. "Gah, what's happening?"
Quentin walked over, standing in front of Kaihou. "Crap, you woke him up-"
"Oh boo hoo, the prince of drug trafficking, money laundering, blackmail, and shark loaning isn't getting his beauty sleep."
"Lily, stop."
"No- you know what? I can't stand this shit, you think with your penis-"
"The hell's that supposed to mean?" Lily grabbed her phone from the island and began to walk out, Quentin following her. "He was shot! He had to stay somewhere."
"Why not a fucking hospital?"
"I don't know! It's none of my business, you know I don't like hospitals either. And for a reason!"
Lily stood at the doorway, sighing. "Quentin, he is not you. He probably doesn't want to go to a hospital because he'd fail a drug test or get arrested because he started a gun fight." She closed the door.
"Wait!" Quentin opened it again and shut it behind them, leaving them alone in the hallway. "You're my best friend, let's talk about this at least."
The girl crossed her arms and looked at him annoyedly. "Talk about what, your crush on a criminal?"
"It's nothing romantic, he came here bleeding- did you want me to leave him to die?"
"The only reason you decided to keep him here instead of taking him to get help was your ego, be honest."
Quentin paused, confused. "What?"
"You like how he always needs you, you had to rescue him, you got to bandage his wounds, and when he was finally in an area of comfort you got uncomfortable and left. You think you're at some moral highground for seeing how needy a criminal is."
"So you're telling me you would have let him bleed out because of that?"
"Yes! Put yourself first, you're not helping a victim you're helping a murderer."
Quentin sighed, the last thing he wanted to do was get Lily angry. The two spent almost every night a few years ago on voice chat during times where he felt lonely or didn't know what to say to other people. Lily was basically his online tour guide, his guide to living in a society. "Did you ever feel that way about me? Like you were a hero?"
"What? No, I felt like I was helping a friend. We're talking about a literal gang boss in there."
"And what if I'm a bad person too? You know some of the shit I did and you still forgave me."
"YOU. AREN'T. A. GANG. BOSS." She screamed, "Fuck it, I'm out of here. Call me when you come to your senses."
"Lily-"
"No."
She stormed off, leaving Quentin alone in the hall. He sighed, unsure of what to do... but there was still the wounded man in his house, of course. He walked back inside, Kaihou was stretching while watching the television.
"Something up?"
Quentin smiled, "Nothing bad." He walked over to the island, unpackaging the leftovers Lily left. "You hungry?"
