Chapter 4- Walk on Water
“Actually..” I started before walking into the gym
“Hmm? What's up Nana?” Takahashi asked looking a little concerned
I didn't want to participate in PE at all. I felt really bored and lifeless.
“Let's go to my house. My parents have been gone for a few weeks. They won't come back for another 7 months or so .” I said, starting to get a bit impatient.
My parents had been on the run from the government because they were accused of killing countless numbers of normal humans. The gym teacher had been quite wary of me because of my parents. It wasn't a complete lie. My parents did kill other humans. Their plea was to gain more supernatural powers but it had nothing to do with me. Everyone knew that I was the daughter of cannibals but no one blatantly asked me about it.
I got lost in thought and completely forgot about the three other people standing next to me
“...Na?.. Diana? Are you there?” I heard Takahashi say. “Um. I could try slapping her!” I also heard Arachnar say with her sadistic voice.
“Slapping who?” I replied, looking at her.
“Oh, by the way, we said we would go to your house while you were in your little trans,” Blossom said, trying to change the subject. “Huh..? Oh yeah right, sure. I need to get my stuff from my locker.
“Nana, why didn't you just move into the dorms? It would be so much easier.” Arachnar wondered.
“I have a little brother that I have to take care of. I can't leave him at home by himself, and he doesn't want to enroll in the dorm system the lower schools provide.” I replied, wondering about Nathan. I never showed much interest in him. I'm a sophomore in high school and he’s in 7th grade.
Although he acted mature compared to the kids his age, he played really dumb jokes on me.
“Oh, Nathan! Haven't seen him in a while, wonder how that little star is doing.” Takahashi grinned.
“Hashi shut up already! You're the one that taught him horrible pranks that he keeps harassing Nana with.” Blossom yelled.
“OUCH!” I cried, banging my head on my locker. I didn't realize that we had gotten there yet. I could never understand how I got to my locker on the fifth floor so quickly, but I barely ever made it on time to my classes on the second.
I collected my textbooks and sketchbook. On my phone, I made a reminder to do my homework and get some groceries.
“I can call my driver to come to pick us up,” Arachnar said. Although I knew she was just trying to be nice, I didn't want to be seen hopping into a million-dollar limo.
“No thanks Ara, thanks though, we can just walk. My house is like a mile away from here.” I said politely.
“Alrighty, let's go!” Takahashi screamed
“Shut up dumbass, you know other people are in their classes.” Blossom scolded him.
We all laughed.
Who knew if and when we would ever laugh like this again.
