Chapter 1 : I forgot something.

Chapter 1 : I forgot something.

Apr 23, 2022

It was a bright day. The sun rays bounced off of rooftops of houses near East Lielle Elementary School, like a big lightbulb brightening its surroundings.
A blonde girl with her hair separated in two, presumably named Melanie, about to go to said school, looks up to see the sun before immediately closing her eyes in discomfort. She walks past the gate behind other students, as they chat regarding their school activities.
Going up the stairs, she overhears 2 girls talking to each other, they seem to be having fun, probably joking around.
        'I wish I have friends'
Melanie thought, jealous of their compatibility.

Melanie opens the door to her classroom, to then be met with her 2 friends surrounding her, eager to say something, something important.
"Melanie! Have you done last week's homework? Michelle and I haven't!" One of the girls, seemingly named Miranda, a pale girl with black shoulder-length hair, asked with a face of worry while holding Melanie's hand.
"Homework? There was homework?" Melanie stuttered, confused, not knowing there was homework in the first place.
"Of course there was! You know Ms Lita always gives us homework!" The other girl, Michelle, a girl with a doll-like face and unbelievably long dark brown hair, commented.
"What should we do? Ms Lita's gonna punish us if she knows we didn't do our homework!" Miranda said as she lets go of her grip on Melanie's hand.
"I mean- there has to be a way to do this! There is no way we're just gonna tell Ms Lita we didn't do it!" Melanie stated, asking for an away. The three went silent. They were trying their hardest to find a solution to this hassling problem.
Michelle looked around the classroom, there were many students. Most of which are chatting, gossiping about the school's latest drama.
The wooden desks were neatly arranged and there were no writings on the dark green chalkboard. Her eyes were focused on the chalkboard, then above the chalkboard.
Above it, there was a white clock with black lining hung on the wall, the time is 7:14.
"What if we do it now? There's still some time before class," she suggested.
The other two looked at the clock. "But that's only 15 minutes! I doubt we'll be able to do all 10 questions in 15 minutes." Miranda complained, obviously annoyed by Michelle's 'dumb suggestion'. "Let's go with Michelle's plan, it's not like we have much of a choice anyway..." Melanie then added, subsequently agreeing with Michelle.
As much as she hates it, Melanie does have a point.
In the end, they ended up agreeing to Michelle's plan. To them, those were the fastest 15 minutes they've ever gone through. The said 10 questions were the type of questions you'd need to be careful with, thus, taking more time. But they didn't have much time, so they ended up doing them on a whim. They didn't expect their grades to be high. But they didn't care, as long as they were done with it.
"RING-RING!" The sound of the bell was heard, even through the packed school halls, indicating class is starting.
A bit after that, the one, the one the three girls are terrified of, Ms. Lita, came.
"Good morning, class." The frustrated, supposedly 'mean' teacher who just didn't have enough sleep, greeted.
"Good morning Ms Lita!" The whole class greeted back in unison.
"Last week, I've assigned you all homework, is there anyone who hasn't done it?" She said, laying on the chalkboard while playing with her messily tied hair.
The whole class went silent, hinting everyone has done it.
"Well then, line up and put your books on that desk." She adds as she points to the teacher's desk. The whole class runs towards the desk and tries to put their books in a pile, albeit, not in a line. The already sleep-deprived Ms Lita gets more frustrated. "I said in a line.". The class, in a panic, tries to form a line.
The last subject of the day ends and the three girls, unaware of what will happen, check their homework book to see what their grades got.
In there, was a sticky note, saying; "After the last subject ends, come to the teachers' room.". The three were scared, knowing what they'd done.‎
Nevertheless, they agreed to come.
"TIK! TAK!", sounds of their footsteps echo across the seemingly empty school halls, not necessarily 'empty', more of 'fewer students'.
"What do you think our punishment will be..?" Melanie whispered to the other two.
"Mel! Don't think of it like that! M-maybe we'd somehow get off her hook..?" Miranda responded, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah, there's no way that teacher will get us off the hook." The last girl added, then making a face of despair.
"Uhm.. Miche, do you think your mum will be mad?" Miranda questioned the hopeless girl, playing with her hair.
"Of course she would, the weird thing is if she doesn't...".
          "Hm..".
'I look to my left, it felt like someone, or something, is watching me.
"Guys, you see that girl?" I asked my friends.
         "What girl?" Michelle asked.
"That girl!" I then point to a girl, she was sitting on a bench.
"The one with the twin tails, like mine! Doesn't it look like she's staring at us?".
"You're right, that's... weird," Miranda responded.
"Oh! Is it that girl with the pink notebook?" Michelle said.
"Yeah, it looks like she's writing in it..". That girl wore a blazer uniform, not ours. 'Why is an upperclassman in this school?' I thought to myself.
"Wait.. Where is she now? I swear I just saw her there," Michelle asked, who probably lost sight of that girl.
"Oh wait, where is she? I thought I just saw her too.." Miranda muttered.
We were confused, we thought we saw a girl in twin tails-- ones like mine, but somehow she was gone.'

They saw something they shouldn't have.

         Alas, there they were.
Standing in front of the teacher's room's tall brown door, detailed with carvings.
They were all very nervous, knowing what they did.
"Guys! Say 'excuse me' when I count to three!" Melanie whispered to the other two, who then nod to that request.
         "1".
         "2".
         "3!".
'Excuse me!' the three cheered in unison.
The sound of footsteps is then heard from said room, probably from a teacher's. The sound gets closer and closer to the door. Someone opens the door.
"What do you guys need?" A voice speaks out. 'It's Michael!' The three thought excited their intended teacher isn't there.
"Oh, you guys are here for Ms Lita, right?" Michael questioned.
Their excitement turned to despair as Melanie replied with a sad 'yes...'.
"She's here, but she's taking a phone call. Could you guys come back in a minute?" The brown-haired teacher politely requested.
"No, I can handle this, don't worry!" A female voice screeched across the room so loud I'm pretty sure students near could hear her voice. The three, in a high despair state, somehow gets higher hearing poor Ms Lita's voice break their eardrums.
"O-Oh.. well then, you guys can come in.." Michael stuttered. "But please make it quick, I don't think Ms Lita had a good sleep-- No, I don't think even any sleep last night.."
The three nod in agreement.
"So.. Ms Lita...Is there a problem with our homework..?" Melanie asked. "I don't... think we've done anything wrong...".
"Look, kids, I don't have time for problems like this. The only reason I put in that sticky note was because I thought it was my normal behaviour to do such things, but today, I'm not at my best. Could you just.. tell me why you didn't do that a week ago? It was a week ago!"
The three, silent, still not admitting to what they did, felt guilty for procrastinating all their way through the weekend.
"I'm sorry Ms Lita..." Melanie admitted.
         "I'm... also, sorry..." Miranda joined.
"Me too... Sorry Ms Lita..." Michelle elaborated.
Ms Lita takes a deep breath, and exhales. "Normally, I'd give you hard punishment, but today..-" Ms Lita yawns, cutting her speech. "-I feel a bit nice. So, I assign you three to do class picket for a week."
"THAT'S NOT FAIR!" Melanie whined. "Why do we have to do it for a week! Why not for a few days-"
The other two physically shut her mouth and try to carry her outside the teachers' room, trying not to bother Ms Lita anymore.
"Why did you do that!? That could've given us more punishment time you idiot!" Miranda whined, almost the same way as Melanie but quieter.
"Miran has a point, you shouldn't have been rude to her. We're already lucky she didn't give us a month of homework." Michelle advised, leaving the twin-tailed girl more infuriated.
That last scene with Melanie was really stupid, maybe I should've written it like she wasn't doing a tantrum. Or maybe not, I really don't know.

Melanie, Miranda, and Michelle. Three year 6 friends in East Lielle Primary School, and their daily lives. Though, there is something lurking in the deep, writing lies like truth, thoroughly observing the three. Secrets, lies, shams, dishonesties, fallacies; all the things they say and are. Could it be that they are not what we think they are? Could they only be fabrications of the mind? Distortions of the truth?
They seem normal, but maybe they aren't.

"I want to go back."

A/N: Will post whenever i like because if i post once a month i only make 12 chapters a year and if i post once a week it's way too short
btw, this shit's a slow burn. The actual drama(main plot thingy) starts at 3-7 chapters(depending on my free time) and from the 1-6 chapters its just hints about the main plot behind all this. So if you wanna see climactic writing, this ain't for you :/. The series is prolly gonna be like 10 ±3 or 5 chapters, it's not gonna be long, so don't get too attached lmao
