“Hi, love!” I gushed. He gathered me up in his muscled arms and swung me around, my dress twirling along with me. I ran my hands through his curly brown hair and lost myself in his deep blue eyes. Then I remembered Emily. When I looked back she had a wide grin that only little sisters can master. I groaned and buried my face in my hands, knowing that she and mom would tease me endlessly about this later. Michael only chuckled while watching this exchange. I took his hand and pulled him away from Em’s prying ears.
“I heard you came for me at dawn. You are absolutely ridiculous!” I scolded. He laughed and I dropped my phony mad face to laugh with him.
“Well, that’s because I wanted to ask you something.” I tilted my head to the side curiously. Michael gave me a weak smile and I noticed for the first time he seemed nervous. He cleared his throat and dropped to one knee. I sucked in a breath and my chocolate brown eyes started to water. Pulling out a small box, he proceeded to announce,
“Hannah Jane Walker, my darling. I have loved you for the past 3 years. You’ve known me at my best and my worst. If I could measure how much I loved you, it would still not be enough. So I hope this action will be the first of many proclamations of my love for you. Will you make me the happiest man in the universe and marry me?” I was crying ugly tears now, trying to not let my makeup run. I then launched myself onto him, yelling “Yes! Yes!”
