I woke up to an agonizing headache. My eyes set sight on a looming figure standing only a few feet away. It was obscured by shadows, so I couldn’t exactly figure out who it was besides its humanoid shape. “Can’t believe I forgot to lock the fucking door.” That voice, it was the same one we encountered when we first entered the city. He slowly approached me, revealing himself in the light. I could feel my heart beating loudly as he started to form a sickening grin. “It’s unfortunate that idiots like you can’t keep to themselves. I gotta clean up the trash again. Unfortunately for you, I'm not in the mood to kill you or your friend. I did make sure your friend wouldn’t be here. “What did you do to her?” He laughed and said, “I only tied her up and kept her hidden in my closet. I wouldn’t worry about her that much.” I tried to muster the strength to escape, but I only knew that would complicate things more. “Why are you doing this?” “WHY?! I’ll tell you the fuck why. All these goddamn shits thinking they're gonna survive by stealing and killing all they want. They don’t care about the people, only the money and other riches. The people who came got what was coming to them. It’s quite amusing to see such infantile shitheads barge in thinking there is nothing gonna happen to their “perfect lives”. I’m not the one at fault, all these pieces of goddamn shits are. They would’ve killed me if they had a chance, so what’s the fault of me doing the same.” “You're just insane!” “Shut up!” He punched me in my gut;the impact of the punch almost made me vomit. “The bodies here are reminders for anyone stupid to come here. It’s my property and I can do whatever the hell I want with it.” He smirked again. This time with more malicious intent. “You know what? I hadn’t had a lot of fun in a while. Killing all these people doesn’t leave such a satisfactory feeling in my system. Perhaps if I knock someone like you down a peg, it could give me that feeling I've been looking for. Wait here, I’ll be right back, heh-heh.” He went into a different part of the room; I tried to escape with all my might, but could not get any of these ropes off me. Eventually he came back inside with a baseball bat. “I used to be a pro baseball player myself. Too bad that was more of a wish than a dream. I quite use it for a different purpose now. TO BEAT PIECES OF SHIT LIKE YOU!” Without warning, he swung the bat at a high velocity and impacted my head. I could feel the pain throbbing in my skull. The pain was unbearable, I knew he was gonna continue until I was unconscious. “Strike one.” He swung again, at an even higher rate than the first swing. “Strike TWO!” The final strike left me in an unconscious state, as I didn’t even have time to look up to see it swing again.”YOUR OUT.” I felt myself go limb as the last thing I’d seen was him and my blood on the carpet.
I didn’t know how long I had been knocked out; the pain from waking up again was a harrowing pain on my noggin. I could see all the blood on the ground from the impact. I could tell my physique was all bruised and bloody even if I had a mirror to look at. I did see that he was sleeping on another couch. I knew that this was my opportunity to free myself from this prison. I searched for whatever object I could find to cut me loose from these ropes. A pocket knife just so happened to be present near the kitchen. I mustered the strength to walk towards the counter. It was harder than I thought, due to all the intense pain building up in my head. I felt like at any moment, my head could just explode right there and then. Every step I took made me feel extremely nauseous and dizzy. Any second I could easily pass out and faint. Even though I couldn’t move forward, I needed to muster the strength to continue. The closer and closer I got my vision got blurry and made it hard to see anything in front of me. I could make out the faint outline of the pocket knife; I took the knife and carefully put it in my hands. Now comes the tricky part, actually removing the ropes with the knife. Normally you see these in movies and shows, where they always use a knife to cut the ropes. Unlike that trope, none of them had their vision blurry and a feeling of dizziness. Cutting the ropes was more than 90% chance of me cutting my hands, and a 10% chance of actually succeeding with no minor repercussions. I still needed to try even if I had gotten my hands dirty. I could feel my hands shaking which made it burdensome to cut the ropes. It took quite a while to get the ropes off; as expected I had lacerated my hands with the knife. It did sting a little, but that didn’t stop me from continuing cutting the rope. I eventually managed to cut the ropes loose. Still needed to be careful and search for wherever Melody was without waking him up. I put the pocket knife in my pocket just in case he ever woke up. The room wasn’t big, so I don’t think I would have trouble finding Melody at all. There was a closet near me, so I assumed that’s where Melody was hidden and my suspicion was correct. She was tied up exactly like me, but she had been unconscious it seems. I couldn’t just drag her out the door without freeing her and waking her up. I spoke as quietly as I could to her. “Melody wake up, we need to get out as soon as possible.” She slowly opened her eyes and made a sudden movement. “Shhhh, we can’t make a sound, I can cut you loose so we can get out.” “Ok” I grabbed the knife and cut her ropes loose. She thanked me and we tip-toed towards the door. We didn’t close the door in order to not cause more sounds. Getting down the stairs didn’t cause us many issues, he wouldn’t be able to hear anything even if we ran towards the door. Even if we looked like we were safe, I knew we weren’t gonna leave that easily. And my suspicion just so happened to be correct once again. I heard a shot roar in the distance which hit me directly in my shoulder.
I fell to the ground; my arm was limp as I went to my knees, riving in pain. Melody rushed towards me to see what had happened. “What the hell happened?” “So-someone shot me.” Melody stepp back. “Ah shit!” “You really thought your piece of shit could get off that easily. I was only pretending to sleep to trick both of you. Why else would I leave a convenient pocket knife on the counter? Killing you both out here would make things easier to hide the bodies.” “Your fucking sick” “The hell i am, and guess what? I don’t care! I’m allowed to do whatever the hell I want. No one can, you blasting idiots are not gonna tell me what to do. It’s your own fault for coming here, now you're gonna pay the price. He fired his gun at me again and shot at my shoulder again. My body felt even weaker than before. The time of death was coming so soon. “Shit, out of bullets.” Melody tried to rush towards me and help me get back up to my feet. “It’s a good thing I came prepared with backup. Gonna give my bat more credit than its worth. This should finish the blow, hehehe!” I couldn’t move a muscle, the impact of the bullet restrained any sort of will power I had. “Melody you need to run. I can’t do anything, helping me will only get you wounded as well.” “But-” “Please!” She didn’t want to,but she ran away from here. “Well would you look at that. I got a runner. Too bad your friend left you all alone. But since you're here now.” He was about to swing the bat towards my head, until suddenly-something grabbed it. “Ho-ho, what have we got here?” It was the jester. “What the hell is this?” “What? You’ve never seen a robotic jester before? I’m quite the new style of entertainment. Hehe, it seems you’ve been quite busy. Killing the lives that you come in contact with. The ones you lied to in order to make them think you gave them your trust. All the ones who pleaded for help when all they wanted was someone who can help. A shame that they died and were used as decorations. They weren’t even fancy or anything, talk about low-class.” “Get the hell out of my way.” “A person who kills and kills, hehe, I can’t simply let one just go on like that without any remorse. Well you know what that means right?” “What the fuck do you mean?” “It’s PUNISHMENT TIME!”
Suddenly, a large stage appeared right out of thin air. It was similar to one of those magic shows that people perform for live audiences. “I suggest you better get out of here.” “Why are you helping me?” “And let you die by this patient from the asylum and not meet the person in charge. I simply can’t let that slide on my behalf. Oh and, this might get a little MESSY!” I mustered up the strength to get up off the ground. I held my arm as I tried to walk towards somewhere safe. I hid inside the bushes, curious to see what that show of his was. “Ladies and gentleman, I present to you, The Magical Disappearing Box.” It was one of those boxes that people go inside, and the magician would use a hand saw to fool the audience that the person inside was cut in half. The man was already placed inside the box, struggling to get out. The jester pulled out the hand saw and began to demonstrate his performance. “Watch as this man of sin completely disappears from the face of the planet.” He began to go towards the middle and cut a perfect outline as the man began to scream violently. He then slides the box open revealing the end of the trick. “Ta-da, he has completely gone from this world.” The man was split in two; organs, blood and other parts of his body began to ooze out and the man laid dead. The sound of an audience cheering began to play and the jester finished his act. “Thank you and goodnight.” The show disappeared and so did the box carrying the man. I know that generally his actions were sick, but even I could feel a little sick seeing that “show”. Death was necessary for an insane person like him,but I didn’t expect something as dreadful as something of this sort. All I needed to put my intention on now was to try to find Melody.
I searched every corner and building I could find. I didn't know how much time I’d spent trying to look for her. The last place I decided to check is where we first stopped in this city. Melody was standing near the car looking upset. I ran towards her, calling her name so she could hear me. She turned around and smiled when she heard my voice. “You're alive?” “I had some unexpected help.” “Who helped you?” “I couldn’t believe it either, but the jester who kept threatening us had actually helped me.” “I’m quite surprised as well, but I’m just glad you’re ok.” “Same to you.” “Since we’re together again, we should set up a place to sleep.” “I forgot to tell you that the jester had already taken care of that mentally ill person.” “Then it looks like we’ll have a pleasant sleep tonight.” It was already late, so we set up our tents, made a fire and proceeded to obtain a deep sleep.
“It is time to meet your fate that you have been trying to hide for so long. I’ll be waiting for you, it won’t be long till then.”

We didn’t waste any of our time. We packed all our stuff and drove to our final destination. This was our final area where the headmaster was living. Once we confront him and defeat him in some way, the world will be at peace again. “Can’t believe this is our last spot. It sure was a journey wasn’t it.” “Ye-yea..”, Melody looked quite depressed, more so than usual. “Pull over!” I stepped on the brakes near a bridge on the highway. We got out of the car and asked what was wrong. “Is there anything bothering you?” “Remember when you first met me and asked me about why I was wearing the costume?” “Yea,but I don’t think it’s weird that you’re wearing one.” “There is a different reason for that.” She pulled down the zipper on her costume revealing…a creature. “This-can’t…” I couldn’t process it, the fact that Melody this entire time was one of them. I didn’t want to believe it, I thought it was just a stupid joke; it wasn’t real I kept telling myself. “I wanted to hide the truth for so long. I now realize that the truth has to come out at some point. This is the true self I was hiding from the rest of society and you.” I was dumbfounded, I felt like this had been a sort of betrayal from the start. I was even debating wanting to kill her, since she could kill more people; I couldn't bring myself to kill her, even if she was one of them. “This is your mission, I went along to help with what I could. I can no longer assist in your journey. You make the right path and set everything right. I am no longer needed in this world anymore. I’m sorry about everything.” “I can’t hate you, even if you look like one of them, but I can’t look at you the same way anymore.” “I understand.” Never could I let this feeling out of my system. There is no worse tragedy than the person you trust dearly, is someone you didn’t want to be. “I’ll be off. Whatever happens to you is up to you to decide.” Melody walked into the forest, or somewhere into the unknown. I was left completely alone, even if the truth hurt me personally. I knew I still had a mission to complete. I was going to save the world, no matter what.
