Emilia's POV

Never in my life did I think that my own family would betray me like this , I knew that there was something up with Valerian but I never knew what it could be . I always knew that my family were twisted in ways that could never be explained. Why do you think I left Idris for the mundane world? As I said before , I hate the shadowworld and that includes my parents. I hate them for the way they brought me up and for the person that they made me become .

I never answered Valerian’s call but I did arrive on time to the institute to open the portal to Idris . When I arrived the squad were waiting and Valerian was looking at me with anger in his eyes but I just ignored him and opened the portal . We all stepped through the portal and arrived in Idris to be greeted by my parents and other siblings and the members of the clave . My father and mother came up and greeted Valerian and the squad but they only glared at me with an emotion I knew so well , Disappointment and shame . I looked towards my siblings and they looked at me with poker faces but I knew that they were slightly concerned about me . My siblings always cared about what our parents thought about us , well except for Durion and I. We never cared because our parents only felt rejection for the two of us . That’s why Durion and I have a strange bond between us .

My father told the Valerian , the squad and I to follow him and the clave members into the meeting room which could fit around thirty people . I just rolled my eyes before following on behind the rest . I seriously didn’t want to be here , now that I know that my own parents and cousin have been using my twin brother to spy on me all these years . Once everyone was seated my father started his interrogation.

‘’ How has training been Valerian , is everyone in the squad invincible to demon attacks ‘’ He said while directing that question at me . To which I just rolled my eyes and scoffed .

‘’ Yes Inquisitor Shadowblood , Everyone on the squad is at their highest level of skill ‘’ Valerian said with a fake smile on his face , to which I nearly gagged at .

‘’ How about my daughter’s skill level , has she maximised her powers? '’ My father asked while making eye contact with me .

‘’ Yes Inquisitor Shadowblood , Emilia’s powers are at their highest level , her skill is unbeatable , she cannot be defeated by others ‘’ Valerian said while trying to make eye contact with my father, which he was failing to do.

My father is doing this on purpose , he doesn’t want to talk about our upcoming mission , he was trying to rile me and it’s not working . My father knows that I will challenge him any day if he was to cross the line . I couldn’t care less that he is my father . He doesn’t even act like my father , it’s like he never was my father but only a tormentor .

‘’ How have you been, Emilia ? How is Skyler ? ‘’ My mother interjected . Another parent that was never a parent to us .

‘’ Why do you care how we’ve been? You never cared when we were kids all you cared about was your appearance and how you would stab people in the back ‘’ I said while glaring at my mother . My mother looked at me with anger in her eyes but with a little disappointment .

‘’ Don’t talk to your mother like that Emilia , We taught you better ‘’ My father said, trying not to get angry in front of the clave members .

‘’ Why shouldn’t I? You and our so-called mother never raised Skyler and I , Durion and Orion raised us and Skyler and I raised Ace and Xavier . Why start caring now , because let’s face it the pretend parent role doesn’t suit ye . I never wanted to be this person but who made me this way , ye did and I will always hate ye for it . I don’t know about the rest of the family but I don’t want to be your daughter and I despise being a Shadowblood ‘’ I said before getting up from my place at the meeting table and leaving the meeting room .

I walked out of the Inquisitor estate and I grabbed my stele out of my pocket. I was creating a portal rune when I heard someone from behind me .

‘’ That was quite the show you put on , Mila ‘’ They said , I recognised that voice as Durions .

‘’ What else did you expect me to do Durion , Sit there and act like I love this god forsaken family ‘’ I said while turning around to face Durion .

‘’ No , but I didn’t expect you to say that you hated being a Shadowblood . But in a way I can see why . Our parents put you through hell as a child and Orion and I tried to shadow you and Sky as much as we could but we didn’t do a good job ‘’ He said while looking me straight in the eye .

‘’ It’s not yours or Orion’s fault for what our parents did to Sky and I , but what I do know is that I will not be following their bullshit anymore , they can strip me from my title for all I care . ‘’ I said while looking down at the ground.

‘’ They won’t strip you of your title Mila , but you will be severely punished for what you just did. You made a scene in front of the clave members and father has been wanting to get involved with them ‘’ He said before passing an envelope to me .

‘’ Well it’s better off they know what our parents are like . What is this ? ‘’ I said while looking at the envelope but it didn’t take me long to recognise the handwriting on the front .

‘’ It’s from him Mila , I couldn’t find a chance to leave Idris to give it to you but I’m glad I got a chance today and don’t worry nobody knows about him ‘’ Durion said while placing a hand on my shoulder .

‘’ You should see him Mila , He needs you ‘’ Durion said before turning away and leaving .

Instead of watching Durion leave , I looked at the envelope one last time before I placed it in my cross body bag . I then used my stele to create the portal to which I stepped through . I arrived in the mundane world and thank god I was back and safe for now , but my parents will come for me. I know they will .

I was walking back to my apartment when two vampires stood in front of me. Was I scared ? No I wasn’t because the vamps could never compare to the pain and torment that my parents have put me through already .

‘’ Can I help you ? ‘’ I said not taking any interest in their presence .

‘’ Are you Emilia Shadowblood? ‘’ One of them said .

‘’ It depends on who’s asking, ‘’ I said while placing my hand on the hilt of my seraph blade .

‘’ We're not here to cause trouble Miss Shadowblood , We came here to ask for your help ‘’ The other vamp said .

‘’ What could you possibly need my help with? ‘’ I said in disbelief .

‘’ You're a wolf right ? ‘’ One of them asked .

‘’ Part wolf yes , I’m a hybrid , I’m half Shadowhunter ‘’ I said slightly confused .

‘’ Miss Shadowblood , we work for the alpha of the Red moon pack and we are mates to two of his pack members . Our alpha has been poisoned and the elders have tried everything to cure him but nothing is working . The elders said that you were the only Shadowblood that studied poisons at the academy ‘’ The vamp said .

‘’ I did study that at the academy. What does the elders want with me? ‘’ I asked .

‘’ They want you to help save our alpha ‘’ They both said at the same time .

I knew that these vamps weren’t lying , I just had a gut feeling that they were telling the truth .

‘’ I will help you , but where is the pack lands ‘’ I said while taking out my stele.

‘’ On the outskirts of New York ‘’ One of them said .

I wasted no time in opening a portal and when I did , the vamps and I stepped through and onto the pack lands . The portal closed behind us and I placed my stele back in my pocket . I had to admit that the landscape view in front of me was magnificent , all the flowers were beautiful . The flowers here are better than the ones in Idris . The two vamps told me to follow them and that’s what I did .

The packhouse and the village before it was even more magnificent if that was even possible . On the way to the packhouse , pack members would stare at me with confusion but with slight curiosity . They could probably sense my wolf side but they were confused about the runes that tainted my skin . But they never went to attack me , it’s like they were waiting for my arrival . Some of the pack members followed on behind us in curiosity to which I didn’t care about one bit .
