- I'm trying out for the Cheerleading team- said one of the girls

- I'm going for soccer- said another

Before they knew it all five girls were enthusiastically talking about what acts they were going to perform or how much they had been training. 

There was only one exception, Sahra was quietly observing from her seat without saying a word. 

-What team are you trying out for? - asked one of her friends

-Uhh... I don't think I'm gonna try out for anything, i don't feel like being in any sports this year- She replied

-Well then can you come with me to cheer tryouts? I need support - Asked her friend Sidney

-Sure thing, I'll be cheering for you- She laughed as they walked out

The clock hit 1:00pm which meant time for lunch, as Charlotte walked to the dining room she noticed Sahra and her friends chatting against their lockers.

-Hey! - Yelled Kayla while running at her and waving her hand in the air

-GUESS WHAT -She said enthusiastically

-What? - Charlotte asked

-You have to guess-

-Kayla I'm not going to guess

-You're so bad at this game

-So are you going to tell me or what?

-I'm trying out for the soccer team and you should too

-That's great but I don't know about that, I've never been in a team before I don't think I'd make the cut

-Don't worry about it, it'll be fun

-If you say so...

The school bell rang indicating the end of their second day, they had already started but Charlotte was already overwhelmed with work.

As she walked to her locker she saw the soccer coach setting up the try out zone, she remembered she had promised Kayla to try out with her so she went to the changing room where a bunch of uniforms had been set in boxes with their sizes on a sign, changed and went out to the field where everyone was warming up.

-You came! - Kayla said

-Of course I did

As the girls talked two older girls walked up to them with smiles on their faces

-Hi! I'm Vivian, and she's Daniella- Said Vivian as she extended her hand to Charlotte and Kayla 

-Hey, we're the team captains and just came to wish you luck- said Daniella

The girls shook hands before introducing themselves

-I'm Charlotte and that's Kayla- said Charlotte

The girls kept chatting for a while when Charlotte had to go to the bathroom and left Kayla talking with the captains

At the same time inside the gymnasium cheerleading tryouts were being held 

Sahra's friend was already in the gym but she was running a bit late 

She grabbed the uniform and quickly changed, but just as she was about to leave she heard something

-Is someone in here?- She asked peeking to the bathroom stalls right when one of the last stall doors opened rapidly, Sahra jumped and a startled scream came out of her mouth

-I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you! - Said the girl that had just come out of the stall, who happened to be Charlotte

-It's okay, that gave me the energy kick I needed- She laughed - Hey aren't you the girl I helped yesterday? 

-Yup that's her, I mean, that's me- She said nervously 

-Are you trying out for the soccer team? Sahra asked when she saw Charlotte's uniform

-Yeah my friend made me try out, I don't think I'm gonna get in tho- She added while looking down, suddenly she felt a hand on her arm 

-I'm sure you're the best one out there- Both girls smiled before walking to each one's destination 

As Charlotte catched a glimpse of herself on the mirror she realised she was smiling and hadn't realised. She quickly wiped the smile off her face and went on her way. She wondered where that smile came from but wasn't allowed much time to think since just upon arrival coach blew the whistle that announced the start of tryouts.

Time passed and as the sun was setting coach Uster blew his whistle to announce the end of tryouts

- Good work everyone, the results will be posted tomorrow morning in the notice board- Announced coach Uster before calling over a couple of girls to help pick up the cones around the field

After that the girls showered and went to the dining hall for dinner, they talked about the tryout and commented on whether they think they made the team or not

-Do you think we got in? - Charlotte asked

-For sure! We were great out there - Kayla responded

The girls went to bed and continued talking until their bed time

-Good night- Said Charlotte

-Night - Replied Kayla

The next morning as they walked down the hall the two girls noticed a group of girls standing in front of the notice board, Charlotte's eyes looked for Sahra but couldn't find her anywhere

-Who are you looking for? -Kayla asked just as the coordinator of the P.E. department walked up to the board with the lists of who made each team. 

As soon as they were pinned the girls stepped forward 

-You read it- Charlotte said, too nervous to read the list. She started out doing it for Kayla, but during tryouts she came to realise she actually enjoyed soccer.

Kayla got closer to the list and starting looking for their names and just as she reached the end of the list the girl looked down with sad eyes 

-What happened? - Asked Charlotte- Did we not get in? 

-You got in- Kayla replied- But I didn't- She said with a faint smile on her face, trying to be happy for her friend

-What? But I only tried out because of you

Charlotte felt as if she should be happier about getting in and thinking about her friend's misfortune but she could only ask herself why Sahra wasn't there since she was trying out for cheer. The girls went on with their days but while walking past the notice board Charlotte felt the urge to spy a little so she approached the board and started looking for Sahra's name

-She's in the team- She thought to herself, not being able to resist a smile popping up on her face thinking about how she'd get to see her often
