I originally wanted to upload Chapter 4 in April, but life kinda got in the way... I will try to upload both, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 in May instead. If I don't manage to finish both chapters, I will only upload chapter 4 and then keep up the one chapter a month schedule again.
For those of you who celebrate it: happy sugar feast/Eid al-Fitr/Seker Bayram (I hope I spelled those right).
If you are interested in my writing process and how 'life got in the way of me publishing the next chapter', feel free to keep reading. Otherwise, have a good day and see you soon!
First thing's first: the writing process. I write while publishing. In my case, that means, that I write multiple chapters at once. I often use placeholders in form of short notes and continue to write a different scene. I do not write everything in the right order. When I was writing the first chapter, I was also already writing chapters 2 to 6. To do that, I have notes on what happens in those chapters and then make them into a text, one by one. That also means that sometimes a later chapter is already finished, before the chapter that has to be published next is finished... but it also prevents writers' block and makes me work quicker since I continue to write at another part of the story whenever I feel stuck. That being said, Chapter 4 is not finished yet, because the beginning and the end aren't finished. The middle part, where most of the action happens, is already done. Chapter 5 misses a part in the middle and the ending, and Chapter 6 misses the ending. I've also started writing chapters 7 and 8.
Why I didn't have time to finish Chapter 4: I'm a student in my last year of school. That means that I'm currently in my final exam period. The first final exam was on April 29th, the last exam is on May 25th. I graduate in June. The semi-finals were in March. However, I wasn't able to take the first exam on the 2nd of March because I managed to get Covid. Luckily, I could leave quarantine on March 10th, then participate in the other exams and retake the exam I missed. However, only shortly before getting Covid at the end of February, I was sick for a few days in mid-February as well. As a result, I missed a lot of classwork and had to catch up on it while studying for my exams. We do not have class during the final exam period. My last day of class was the last day before the Easter holidays, which was the 8th of April. I was away from home for 5 days then, because I and a friend finally went on a trip that kept being re-scheduled for two years because of Covid. We could not choose the dates ourselves (or at least not completely) because we were going to visit the Lion King musical on our trip. Our trip had to wait until the musical was open again. I was back home on Sunday, aka Easter. And then... I had to study. I did write, but I did not manage to finish Chapter 4.
I know not being able to keep to a schedule is kinda bad, especially when you just started to publish your work, but this is exactly why I wrote in my author's note at the beginning that I might not be able to keep to a schedule because I'm a student. I hope to keep up the schedule of one chapter a month after my final exams.
Greetings, Kat ^^
