Mr. Ling turned to look in Murphy's direction. Rather than getting screamed at, the corner of the room was instead pelted with paper aeroplanes and affectionate dabs of heavily watered-down paint. This made the class roaring with exhilaration, as what was then dubbed "The War of the Art Classrom Skies" then became the most chaotic three minutes of the boys' lives. The only force of protection was the artwork they'd been working on, which was a trick to get the work done and also just to make the class feel more pleasant. The final strike was delivered by Ren (the boy who Murphy had accidently hit as well earlier). It consisted of seven origami shurikens, titled "The Seven Deadly Sins", as a reference to the anime series.
Ren then said "Your defeat comes on swift wings," only to then be interrupted with, "Is that a JoJo reference?" before firing the shurikens.
If you were hit by one of these shurikens, you too, like Murphy, would wonder if they're actually made from paper of if it's a comical effect. Either way there was no denying the fact that they had impressive accuracy, managing to land a hit on anyone. It either just nicked the corner of your cheek or lacerated your hands and face to the point that it seemed you actually went to war. As the seven shurikens whizzed back to Ren, landing conveniently in his art portfolio, the bell rang to mark the beginning of the breaktime and which then lead to the whole class running out in excitement like an animal stampede.
It's not just Murphy that'll get that grade, it looks like everyone will in a class full of antics!
Context for non-UK readers:
- The phrase, "Is that a JoJo reference?" is a question typically used to describe an anime reference where the origin is unclear. JoJo describes the anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. In the episode however, the phrase Ren uses isn't from either The Seven Deadly Sins or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- The word "nicked" is British slang used to describe a scratch or a hit that barely did any damage.
Content Warnings:
- Reference to war is used throughout this episode. The implication to what war is somewhat general; it is not supposed to display any war in a satirical matter but just the general concept.
