Scarlett received a phone call from Colonel Andrews she was assigned to the Cathedral Panoramic Park Case. There had been a woman beaten, raped, and left to die in the park. The park was designed with tennis courts, baseball fields, flower gardens, hiking trails, water gardens, swimming pools, monuments, and statues. It is a park for the entire family to enjoy.
In the middle of the park is the historical medieval cathedral that was built in 252 years. The cathedral proudly displays the largest stained glass in one structure. Scarlett woke up to the spirit of Dinah standing at the foot of her bed. She began telling Scarlett what had happened to her. Dinah went to visit the women in the neighboring tribe. When the chief of the tribe, saw her, he took her and raped her. The chief fell in love with her and tried to win her affection. Dinah’s father learned that his daughter had been disgraced. When Dinah’s father and brothers heard about the rape, they were shocked and furious that the chief had done such a thing.
The chiefs father pleaded with Dinah’s father to let him marry her because the chief had fallen in love with her. The two fathers made an agreement that there would be intermarriage between the two tribes. Dinah’s father said to the chief “We cannot let Dinah marry a man who is not circumcised; that would be a disgrace for us. We can agree only on the condition that you become like us by circumcising all the males in your tribe. Then we will settle among you and become one people with you. But if you will not accept our terms and be circumcised, we will take Dinah and leave.”
The chief and his father returned to the tribe and all the men were circumcised. Three days later, when the men were still sore from their circumcision two of Dinah’s brothers, took their swords, went to the tribe, and killed all the men. Dinah’s other brothers looted the tribe to take revenge for their sister’s disgrace. They took everything of value. Dinah’s father was afraid that everybody in the land would hate them and destroy his family. The brothers responded, “We cannot let our sister be treated like a common whore.” Dinah expressed to Scarlett that the longer the rapist is on the loose terror will plague the park. Dinah expressed that the pain of rape not only hurts the person that was raped but also hurts others. If the rapist continued to rape and was not caught the public would seek revenge and kill the rapist.
Scarlett knew the rapist would not stop. He had to be caught. The rape victim was Brook a twenty-year-old female that had been jogging in the park. While jogging on the hiking trail through the bushes someone grabbed her and placed a cloth over her nose and mouth. Brook was lying in the park naked. She was discovered by a woman walking her dog in the park. Emergency Medical Services were notified and carried Brook to the hospital. Scarlett’s visit from Dinah left her believing that a serial rapist was on the loose.
Scarlett went to the hospital to visit Brook and get answers to assist her in finding the rapist. Brook was heavily sedated. Scarlett could only ask her questions. Scarlett asked, “Have you ever seen the man before?” Brook replied, “No, I did not see him this time. He put a cloth over my mouth and nose. I do not remember anything else. I woke up in the hospital.” Brook was unable to provide Scarlett with any information.
Scarlett went to the scene of the crime to look for clues. She discovered a white cloth laying in the bushes two feet from the scene. Scarlett picked up the cloth and placed it in a bag to send to the forensic science lab. Forensic science also known as criminalistics is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. On the criminal side during criminal investigations, as governed by the legal standards of admissible evidence and criminal procedure. Forensic scientists collect, preserve, and analyze scientific evidence during an investigation. Forensic scientists testify as expert witnesses in both criminal and civil cases and can work for either the prosecution or the defense. Forensic science is the use of scientific methods and processes in crime solving.
The lab determined that the rag was soaked with chloroform. The chloroform was used to render Brook unconscious so she could be moved off the hiking trail in the bushes. Once in the bushes she was beaten and raped. Exposure to high concentrations of chloroform may cause convulsions, coma, and death due to respiratory failure or cardiac arrhythmias. Individuals who survive and acute exposure to chloroform may develop hepatic dysfunction and renal damage several days later. Chronic inhalation of chloroform may cause hepatic damage.
Scarlett continued to search the area for the clothing of Brook. Law enforcement like to collect the clothing because it is potentially a good space from which to get evidence. When the rape victim enters the emergency room, and the clothing is taken as evidence. The hospital and law enforcement are left to figure out how to produce replacement clothing for the victim to leave the hospital.
Scarlett woke up to the spirit of Tamar standing at the foot of her bed. Tamar began telling Scarlett her half-brother Amnon fell desperately in love with her. He became so obsessed with her that he became ill. Tamar was a virgin and knew that he would never have her. Amnon went to bed and pretended he was ill. When his father came to see him. Amnon requested that Tamar come and prepare his favorite dish for him. When Tamar arrived at Amnon’s house, she went to the place where has lying down. She baked his favorite dish for him. When she sits the dish before him, he refused to eat.
Amnon then requested that Tamar bring the food into the bedroom and feed him. As Tamar was feeding him, he grabbed her and demanded that she come to bed with him. Tamar cried “No my brother! Do not do this to me! Do not be foolish! Such wicked things are not done here. Where could I go in my shame?” Amnon would not listen to her since he was stronger than her, he raped her. Suddenly Amnon’s love turned to hate, and he hated her even more than he had loved her. Amnon snarled at her to “Get out!”
Tamara cried “Sending me away now is worse than what you have already done. Amnon would not listen and requested that he be thrown out of his house. It was custom in those days for virgins to wear long beautiful robes. Tamar tore her robe and put ashes on the head. Then with her face in her hands she went away crying. When David heard what had happened, he was terribly angry. He hated Amnon deeply because of what he had done to his sister. Amnon attended a festive, became drunk and was murdered for raping Tamar. Scarlett knew that she had the visions because the rapist would be killed. Scarlett knew that the rapist would not be given the death penalty as punishment.

Scarlett walked into the office and had a déjà vu experience. She was standing inside a house that was the Sigma Gamma Rho Fraternity House at the Local College. . The members of the Fraternity were sitting around table talking about the rapes that occurred in the park. The Fraternity believed the rapist was targeting young college students. They believed that it was the responsibility of the Fraternity to protect the females at the college. The Fraternity believed that the rape of the college student must be revenged. The rapist must be killed. The Fraternity agreed to start staking out the park to catch the rapist. The park was an off campus hang out for the females. They visited the park every day to walk and exercise. The Fraternity started walking in the park every afternoon in hopes of discovering the identity of the rapist.
Scarlett visited the park to observe what was happening. She could be lucky enough to discover the identity of the rapist. Scarlett received a call from the crime lab. The DNA did not match anyone in the Data Base. This was a rapist that had never been caught before. Scarlett knew that if the boys at the Fraternity caught him first, they could kill him.
