Aquatic creatures and umbrellas

I remember seeing a creature like this in my dinasour books as a child, it was fighting a loch ness monster in dark waters...I think.
If you didn't get what happened, here is a version: the reptile has something agaist her and while she is trying to run away from it, a traveler offers her an umbrella with no explanation (language barrier) and being nice to a stranger is less important than getting eaten by a giant monster but she is still trying to not offend the traveler?
Recuerdo este animal de un libro de dinosaurios cuando chiquita, estaba en aguas oscuras y se peleaba con otro parecido al monstruo del lago Ness.
Si no se entiende lo que pasó pues aquí hay una versión: la criatura le tiene ganas a la nena y mientras la persigue una persona peregrina le ofrece una sombrilla sin mucha explicación por ¿diferencias de lenguajes? y ella sólo quiere escapar de ser comida pero no quiere ser descortez con la persona extraña tampoco.
