Gently, she maneuvered around
The tents
Before making it out
Into the dirt pathway
Where others walked
Either with a purpose
Or not.
The city was just like
Any other.
Buildings were
Stacked on top of one another,
Creating walls
That surrounded
The dirt pathways,
And makeshift staircases.
And above them
Was the dull, grey sky
That frowned
At their very existence.
She always wondered
What it felt like
To live in a golden city
With advanced
Technology
And a sky
That smiled brightly.
Down the dirt path
She roamed
Until she ran
Into stalls
Both outside
And inside
Buildings
On both sides
Of the path.
Outside of the buildings
Usually carried
Fruits, Vegetables, Meats
Eggs, and other
Assortment
Of Artisan Goods.
Inside the buildings
Were clothes,
Shoes, and other
Materials
She would never own again.
She browsed around
The makeshift shops
Under stripped canopies
Until she found
A vendor
Selling red apples
And requested a few.
Happily the vendor
Put the apples in a brown bag
And she was off,
Back to the tent.
When she returned
To the alleyway,
She didnt expect
To find
Elizabeth
Sitting with his legs
Crossed
In front of the older man.
It was hard
Not to notice him.
He towered
Over their tent,
And over the older man.
He was
Dressed head to toe in black,
Had light colored hair
That went against his skin-tone
And raging, colorful eyes
That changed depending on
The day.
Today, they were blue
As Labradorite
And they burned
Directly into her soul
Just like the day
He found her,
Crawling
On her hands and knees
From a monster.
