The golden chandelier atop the magnificent lobby stood out like no other. The light streamed from the reception until the cafe, Candle Light, which was to the right of the main stairs. Gleaming marble tiles reflected the light, giving off a royal atmosphere. The ambiance of the cafe, resonated with its name; each table had a candle lit in the middle while the lighting at the counter was faint orange. To the left of the main stairs, the common seating space led to the open air restaurant, Riverside, which basked in the moonlit night beside the pool.
"Do you know how important it is? That bag had valuables in it", a guest shouted at the top of her voice. It echoed in the lobby. The manager whispered to the front desk intern to immediately call for the security manager.
A tall muscular man in his 30's walked out of the elevator heading to the front desk as the crowd got larger. Security Manager Allen had seen much of such commotion to be bothered by it.
"Ma'am, our officers are looking for your bag. Please calm down", the Security Manager asked politely.
"Calm down? Do you think I can calm down when my daughter's wedding set is missing?" the woman shrieked.
"Mrs. Beckham?" An average built girl in her 20's with an undercut hair walked in carrying a leather bag. She continued, "please calm down, we have found your bag".
The woman rushed to the girl grabbing the bag and holding it close.
"Mrs. Beckham, your daughter had taken it to the ballroom for the rehearsal and left it there", she clarified.
"Oh still, your hotel staff should be careful with the guest's belongings" the woman managed to say masking her obvious guilt.
"That is right ma'am, I apologize on behalf of the staff for the inconvenience caused", she said bowing down.
"It's fine. I'll head to my room now." She sped away.
***
"Samairah, where to?" the wellness center receptionist stood up as she saw the Security Officer march into the restroom without replying.
"Why in the fucking hell should I be apologizing?" she said as she shadow boxed her frustration in front of the mirror.
"Fucking customers are gods? God, my foot. Fucking piece of shit" she sighed as she sat on the bench in front of her locker and sighed. A woman as thin as a stick walked out of the washroom visibly appalled. She walked close to the wall while looking at Samairah who still seemed angry. "Argh I need a drink; an hour to the end of my shift! No worries that's just 6 reps of 10 minutes. It'll pass quickly", she convinced herself as she walked out of the restroom in the most elegant manner.
She was greeted by Allen, the Security Manager who seemed to be in a rush. "Samairah, where have you been? I have been looking all over for you."
"What's the matter?" she asked without a change in her uninterested expression.
"The CEO has called for you", he replied
"Son of a bitch", she murmured as she walked away towards the staff elevators.
The CEO's office was like a lair in itself. It had dim red lights with LED's in the walls that ran along patterns which made it seem like the entrance to hell. The CEO, Akin, was no less than the devil. He sat on the cushioned leather sofa, sipping on wine. Dressed in a suit and covered in neck tattoos, he could easily pass off as the mafia lord in disguise.
"Ah you're here", he said looking to his side as she barged in loudly.
"What is it this time?" she said looking at the painting on the right wall. Anyone would mistake it at first sight as a tavern hosting a party with heavy happy drinkers. However, the second part of the painting on the left wall went along well with Akin's personality. Blood splatters painted the tavern walls while dozens lay dead at the foot of a man heavily covered in tattoos and carrying a sword.
"What do you take me for? Work, of course", he chuckled. She rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"A special guest is arriving; take care of him for me. It's a huge business opportunity; I want you to stick by him as his personal guard during his time here. Kid is going to bring in millions if the events go well", he explained.
"Who is it?"
"I don't take you for a person that is interested in k-pop but if you really want to know, Google Cha So Woon"
"Couldn't care less. Tell me when he's here", she said as she bowed and walked out.
She walked up to the open terrace opposite to the CEO's office. The place was mostly abandoned, as staff dreaded coming anywhere near Akin, only a few took the liberty to wander around. Those that did were bound to him for life.
She walked slowly to the edge and stood along the glass railing, breathing deeply. For others, breathing in air this high up would mean a moment of peace. But as she closed her eyes, the scene would play in her mind like a nightmare. She had a seemingly normal life, although, it meant hiding a lot of pain.
Taken aback by the memories, she sat down on her knees, her hands still along the glass railing.
*Ah she's been following me since the airport* he thought as he walked along the marble tiles at light speed.
"Oh maybe she wouldn't catch me there", he murmured as he made his way past the glass doors and stepped on the faux grass carpet that lined the patio. He took out his tux and removed his mask, pulling his tucked in blue shirt out and messing up his hair. He hopped from one fake tree to another hiding from the woman consistently pursuing him with a DSLR. Walking along the trees he spots the girl kneeling besides the railing.
She felt the touch of warm hands on her shoulders, as she stood up. Although she would have usually knocked out anyone that tried something, her mind refused to react.
*Why am I standing? Who the fuck is this moron?* she wondered although his touch felt comforting at the moment. She turned, looking him in the eye as he still had his arms on her shoulders.
*Hazel, dark brown, I don't know, I can't recognize in the dark but there obviously is one word for it, fucking pretty, the eyes. I've never seen one like it*
He peeked to his right; the woman was now a little farther away from them searching for him as she lost the well dressed guy in the tuxedo.
"Do you mind if I..?"
"No", she answered without even thinking.
He immediately covered the right side of her face with his hand and grabbed her waist pulling her. He moved his left hand away from the face to the back of her neck, and pulled her closer. His lips met hers; she felt a tingle along her neck, her heart pounded.
*Wtf is happening? Why is my heart-* her thoughts were cut off mid way as she felt lighter and lighter. Her mind was now a string of unclear thoughts that lasted lesser than a morning dream.
*Why is he kissing me? WAIT A SECOND!* She thought just as he pulled away.
*Did he hear me? Did I say it out loud* He looked her in the eye for a second before hugging her, burying his face in her shoulder.
*Why does this feel nice? WAIT A FUCKING SECOND!* Yet again, as though her thoughts were heard, he pulled away. The camera woman had walked in the opposite direction. He looked around once more before walking away.
*Ah she's gone* he relaxed.
She stood there shook, her heart still racing.
"My, my first, MY FIRST KISS" she cried in anguish as she stood there, visibly shaken and angry. Taken aback by her scream, he looked back and stood there and watched as the girl screamed at the top of her voice.
*Fucking idiot, why didn't you stop him* she thought, *him, HIM*
"STOP", she screamed as she darted towards him. She looked at his face for a second, punching him hard on his perfect soft cheeks. He fell down to his side on impact and wondered whether he was paying for the sins of his past life.
Shook for a moment, he got up, "excuse me, why did you just hit me?" he asked as he clenched his fists. She took him by his collars and held him up against the glass door.
"Why did you kiss me? You just ruined my first kiss", he looked to his side thinking and speaking again, "Well, firstly if that was your first kiss, you're lucky. I'm actually pretty good at it. Secondly I did ask if you mind me..". She grind her teeth, transferring his collar from her right hand to the left, and hitting him again.
"How fucking dare you? I didn't date for all my life and my first kiss is supposed to be a stranger! You are so fucking dead!" She pulled him and threw him on the ground.
"Fine, I'm sorry I had to kiss you but I had a reaso-"
"Reason my ass" she yelled as she clenched her fists again aiming for his face.
"There was this woman I wanted to get rid of", he said hiding his face behind his elbow.
"You should have just told me that, I would have thrown her out myself" she said raising her fists again.
Akin walks out of his room with a bouquet in his hand and is stopped by the sight of a young man pushed to the ground by Samairah. His eyes widened as he recognized the man. He ran towards the glass door, "Samairah NO!"
She stopped as she spotted the CEO running towards her. He rushed over and helped the young guy stand. Akin helped dust his suit as the young man stood holding his face and looking at the terrifying girl.
"Are you okay So Woon", he asked, handing the boy the flowers while pushing Samairah's neck down to bow. *So Woon? I think I've heard...oh fuck*
