It was like any other childhood birthday. There were presents, cake, and children. However, Miran didn't seem to think the "big" day was as great. He watched as the other kids ran around like utter savages when the cake, HIS cake came out. One by one the slices were handed out but he didn't get the first slice. 'Isn't that how birthdays are supposed to be?' He thought. The birthday kid was always supposed to get the first slice. That's how it was with his old family. The small brunette child slowly walked up to a tall blue-eyed blonde woman. The woman just so happened to be his adoptive mother. "H-hey, momma?". The women looked down. " What is my little bear?" she asked with a smile." Why didn't I get the first slice of cake, it's my birthday isn't it?" Her smile fell and turned into a scowl. " Don't be so ungrateful, you should be happy that you are even having a party this year. Now before I get angry I suggest you go and play with the other kids." He nodded and walked off without another thought. He then came across a small group of children who seemed to be dreading the party just as much as him. When one of them heard him coming, she turned and whispered to who he was assuming was the leader of the pack. " Well well well, if it isn't the birthday boy" one of the boys mocked. Why did everyone have to keep saying that? He hardly felt like this was even a party. More like an awkward get-together with a bunch of 12-year-olds." Hey Miran ! Did you know that heterochmica or whatever it's called is because you got dropped on your face as a baby!" They all burst into laughter, some of them even falling over. Miran on the other hand decided to keep quiet and made the mistake of turning his back. He only realized it was a mistake when a rock hit him square in the back. Then another and another, until a whole swarm of rocks and pebbles were flying in his direction. Soon he could hear his father calling off the kids and coming to his "rescue". He watched as they all scampered away to their parents. 'Heh, scaredy cats. He thought. He and his dad walked back to the party and sat down at the table that was sat outside. " Alright come one kid's time to open presents!" His dad yelled across the lawn. Just then Miran was sure that if he wasn't sitting he would've gotten trampled. Most of the adults had to hold down the children to prevent them from ripping open his gifts. His " mom" walked up behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder. He flinched at the tough and was hoping no one noticed. Thankfully no one did. " Alright sweetie why don't you open our gift first," she said. All of the other parents smiled at each other as if knowing what the surprise was. She handed him an envelope that looked pretty formal for a birthday card. He fiddled with it a few times in hands before reaching to open it. He was surprised to find just a folded piece of paper. He could hear the kids snicker and whisper how it was the worst gift ever. He ignored them and cautiously unfolded the paper and started to read. ' Blah blah blah, court stuff blah blah blah ... wait was that his name?' He looked over it again but this time more carefully . 'My current name is : Miran Charlett... The name I want to change to: Miran...KAZ?!' His hands shook, he almost felt like he was dying. Why was he changing his name ?! He hadn't asked for this. He didn't want this?! He looked around the table then to...HER. It was her fault it was all her fault. She had always wanted to be him to have the same last name as her, but he had always refused. He felt hot tears start to run down his face and his vision became blurry. He just wanted to dissapear.
