This is a tale of true love’s reach, and the heart it has beseeched. For as dark a deed may be, to steal a heart the apex of thievery. And this rogue the bard must find, to grant him absolution of his crimes. To bestow upon him what he already owns. As his lonely quest....
By the gods, what rhymes with owns?
Broken bones does, but that isn’t eloquent nor true. I’ve never broken a bone in my life. Also, to call my quest lonely wouldn’t be fair to my companions. You can’t really be lonely surrounded by friends, now can you?
But the heart wants what it wants. And as it’s yearning for what it does not have, sometimes things that we do have are piteously overlooked.
How did I get here? I used to be so cautious with my heart. Always prudent not to let it slip. Beauty has always beguiled me, but never so much as to lose my senses. Yet, this one rainy night in the drab town of Glaudran, it did.
It all started as our eyes met across a crowded room...
It’s a cliché, but everyone loves a good cliché. I’ll throw in that it was love at first sight, too.
Why?
Because I’m a bard. A storyteller. An artist. My life’s mission is to entertain. To get people’s spirits to rise above the squalor of their daily existence. Out of the endless drudgery of work-eat-sleep. To bring them stories of heroism, valor, loyalty and love that transcend our earthly sorrows and ignite that flame in the soul. Even if it’s just for a little while.
But it’s a true story as well. And one that is as of yet, painfully unfinished.
However, I do wish to tell my tale. Spread it around the continent. So that one day my true love may hear of it and return to me.
Will you too pay mind to my endeavours? Let yourself be dragged into this wild tale of love and loss, adventure and misfortune, comedy and tragedy both? Then please sit back and let yourself slip from your world as I guide you through mine. Be warned though, it's quite the ride.
