How Not to Be a Medium

The Date

The Date

May 09, 2022

I couldn't say that I was a little concerned about Tristan's absence. Not that it bothers me a lot that recently he appeared rarely and for a short time, but it started to worry me a bit. This is a fact that he irritated me, but contrary to appearances, he was a nice companion, and at least I always had someone to talk to or comment on. Therefore, when the lack of company began to bother me a bit, I started a dating application not necessarily with the intention of looking for love, but more to pass the time and just to be able to talk to someone when Zoey could not give me some attention.

However, I did not expect that I would enjoy talking to one boy so much that I agreed to go out to dinner with him on Friday night. I wasn't a very social person and dating wasn't a big goal in my life, I didn't know what to do about it, so I asked a friend for help.

"What happened that you need my help so suddenly?" Zoey asked breathlessly as she burst into my room.

"I'm going on a date," I said, a bit embarrassed. "I don't know what to wear and how to make up, so as not to overdo it."

"But how?" she was surprised. "With who?"

"With Greg," I replied, observing her reactions a bit suspiciously. I suspected that she was going to show great excitement, but in the meantime, she looked as if she was disappointed.

"With Greg? Do I know him?"

"No, I met him on the dating app," I replied a little nervous, hearing a bit of resentment in her voice.

"Since when did you have the dating app? What about Tristan?"

"What does he have to do with it?" I was indignant. "He hasn't appeared recently, anyway. I had no one to talk to, so I get this app."

"All right. Then tell me about this Greg, and I will look through your wardrobe," she said with a forced smile.

Zoey was looking through my clothes with a rather displeased expression, she tried to choose a few sets for me, but she was not satisfied with anything. She listened when I talked about my date. Greg was three years older than us and worked in the IT industry. He had an interest in art and fantasy and it was really nice to talk to him. He often joked with good taste, unlike other guys I talked to, and he had a lot of distance to himself.

My friend finally decided to dress me up in a black skirt, a plain light blue T-shirt, and a sweater. In addition, she offered me a bit bolder and more colorful jewelry than I usually wear. I felt quite comfortable and at the same time elegant enough to go with dignity to the place to which I was invited. Nor did I think that I would be treated so seriously. Greg kissed my hand when he greeted me and generally behaved like a real gentleman. I was really in love with it.

During the meal, however, something ruined my mood. I saw Tristan standing behind my date, his arms were folded and he had a very furious face. As I leaned out a bit, I also saw him lifting and lowering the front of his foot showing nervousness. I noticed he looks lame even for a ghost.

"What are you doing here and with some strange man?!" He asked, bringing his face close to mine.

"I'm on a date and you shouldn't care," I replied in a nervous whisper, covering my mouth a bit so as not to arouse Greg's suspicions.

Tristan looked even less pleasant, and I felt the table tremble a little. I don't know why he was so angry, he had no right to it. It was my life and my date that he clearly wanted to ruin. And unfortunately, he succeeded. Just then, a waiter came up to us with a starter soup, and the ghost knocked the tray out of his hand so that everything would be on Greg. In the end, although I tried to somehow calm the spirit's actions, which of course were endless throughout the whole meal, we said goodbye right after it and Greg did not speak to me again. Although he didn't see Tristan, I'm sure he sensed his negative energy, and that ultimately put him off.

I guess with Tristan around there won't be any nice dates for Camilla.

Have a nice week! :)

Camilla is a medium 2.0, what allows her to interact with ghosts as with alive people. There is one problem, she doesn't want to deal with one specific dead man - Tristan. While dealing with work in Association, love, friends, and a lot of ghosts, she is trying to be the best version of herself.
