After a while of Phoenix embracing me in his arms, we were found by Joyce. She asked us if we were hurt, based on the powders of dust and stains of mud on our knees dotting our knees and cheeks. She took us into the camp office and tended to our wounds, covering them with bandaids. Phoenix and I walk alongside each other, facing our passing feet. I look over at him, hanging his head downwards, his brows furrowed. I'm guessing that he's still thinking about the corpse we saw just now.

"Hey, Phoenix?"

He turns to face me, Prepared to listen.

"I just want to say thank you, for what happened back there."

I say, trying to sound as calm as possible.

"Oh, that hug? It's nothing. Don't worry about it."

He replies sweetly.

"I don't mean to be rude, but... why did you do it? We just met."

I reply. Phoenix pauses for a bit.

"You looked like you needed it. I didn't want to leave you feeling lonely."

"Thank you again."

I finish, dumbstruck by the kindness.

I inhale slowly, turning my eyes back to the ground, watching my shoes shuffle against the rocky ground. The silence between us is long. After a moment, I realize I may be late for my next activity. Pulling out the sheet of paper from my pocket, I search for the next activity. Rock climbing.

I can't help but keep on thinking about the fairy corpse and the sharp toothed woman eating the flesh. Not only was it disgusting, but unusual and scary. I thought that summer camps were meant to be a place to do fun activities and relax. Witnessing a dead body and it being eaten makes me nervous about what's next to come. All I could think was 'Please don't let it happen to me.'Was that part of the forest way too far from where the camp is? No.We followed the same trail that Jenna led us in the nature hiking activity. Why was it there?

"Um, Phoenix? After seeing that corpse, do you get the feeling that there is something dangerous about this place?"

I ask him.

"Definitely. That's not an ordinary thing to spot at a summer camp."

I nod in agreement.

"Why'd you ask?"

He asks.

"If I'm going to be honest with you, I don't feel safe here at all. I feel like we should tell someone. I think that if the camp was safe, this would have been reported as soon as it happened."

"I agree with you. Even though we were in the deeper parts of the forest, it was still in Brenowa. At least, I think it is."

Phoenix stops walking, facing forward. I do the same, turning to him.

"We just saw a dead body about 20 minutes ago. That kind of situation is something to tell the cops. So why not tell the camp leaders instead?"

My heart hammers in my chest. We don't have any evidence for the camp leaders. What might they think? Would they believe us?

"Hold on."

I reply, raising my hands signalling Phoenix to not overthink.

"The corpse didn't look like anyone I knew. How could that person got there? And what was that thing eating it?"

He asks, trying to analyze the situation.

"All I could remember was her skin cut deep, with too much blood to handle. And the woman eating the corpse had blonde hair and sharp teeth. Why would a human eat another human?"

I reply. Going to what he mentioned about the corpse not looking like anyone we knew, it's true, but it doesn't take away how scary the situation was.

"I don't know. Caniballism is not something you see everyday. What if that lady was insane or something?"

Phoenix replies.

"I highly doubt that, but still can't find a reason why that happened."

I reply. My mind goes in circles in confusion.

"The camp leaders might not believe us if we tell them this. It sounds too crazy to believe, but we have to give it a shot. There's a chance it will be a bloodbath if something like this happens again."

Phoenix says.

"You're right. The only thing is, how do we explain? Or protect ourselves from this happening?"

I ask. I realize he is the only person I can talk to about this. I don't have any other friends here to go for help.

"Maybe we can start by describing the situation to the leaders as best as we can and not tell anyone else. If we do, we'll end up with everyone being scared."

He replies.

"If the camp leaders aren't convinced just yet, we can take them to the location. And I agree. If everyone ends up being scared, that's when chaos and rumours start."

I respond, only making Phoenix nod in response.

"Got it."

Then I realize after talking about the craziest things we've seen in our life, I haven't told him about my power yet. I don't know how it works. Only that it seems to kill people with a glance from me and that it makes my eyes burn like a wicked fire. My power will only make this situation worse. Running behind Phoenix, A tall blonde man in the Brenowa camp uniform trots to him.

"Yo, Phoenix!"

Phoenix turns to face him.

"Oh hey Brock."

"You're late. Tom sent me to get you."

"Oh... uh... I got lost."

Phoenix replies. Brock tilts his head to look at me, confused.

"With your girlfriend?"

Both of our eyes widened in shock.

"No. She's just a friend. I just met her."

Phoenix replies, pointing at me with his thumb.

"I'm just teasing you."

Brock replies with a smile, patting Phoenix's shoulder.

"Come on, let's go."

Brock turns to leave, as does Phoenix. The dark haired boy turns to wave goodbye at me, smiling softly. I wave goodbye at him as well, turning to walk to my next activity. I wish I could have talked to him longer; to get as much information we can of this chaos. Also because I don't want him to be another Henry, he's so trustworthy, but I feel that it is too good to be true.

—

I reach the field nearby the rock climbing wall. I see the camp employee dressed in orange explaining something to the kids gathered around him. When I reach the circle, my eyes widen. Noticing Sky makes me nervous. She faces the employee with focus. The rules explained are simple. Wait your turn, get a harness on, and climb the wall in a race against the person beside you. Whoever touches the bell at the top wins. The climbing wall is huge, about 9 meters tall. Though it is hard to tell the exact height with the sun getting in my eyes. While watching the kids climb, few of them were able to make it to the top. The taller and muscular ones. Eventually Sky's turn came. I'm surprised that while wearing an oversized black hoodie, she climbs swiftly. She has a lot of strength. It shows on her legs and ability to climb fast. The girl beside her struggles, with every whine and slip of her feet she makes. Sky climbs closer to the top, so did the girl beside her. Suddenly, she swung her foot through Sky's ankle, causing her to slip. I could see that her fingers tried to keep her on the coloured steps, but she lost her grip from one hand. Sky's angry eyes met with the girl on the right's proud ones. Immediately, I get annoyed at her for playing unfair. So did the rest of the kids from their jeers. Sky frowns, gripping the rock above her strongly. Pulling herself up, she catches up to the cheating teenager beside her. She touched the bell with a reach as the crowd cheered. I could not help but clap to praise her strength and focus. Both of the girls jump down slowly with their harnesses on. The camp employee below praised both of them for effort, even though it was really all Sky who was doing the effort.

"Thank you."

Sky replied to the employee. The other girl came behind her, yelling.

"Hey! Why didn't you go down? I was trying to help you!"

Sky turns back, giving her a confused look.

"Why would I go down?"

Sky replies. I wonder the same.

"If you would have let me help you, then maybe you could have survived. Why didn't you go that way?"

The girl asks again, angrily. Sky turns her body completely to face her.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Gemma. Gemma Price. And what I just said was serious. You have to listen to me."

"Are you sure you're not just trying to have me pity you? I'm not the type of person to play it easy and let others win."

Sky asks sternly, her hands tucked into her pockets. Gemma's brown eyes flare as her arms cross.

"You idiot! I'm trying to save you! Besides, who wouldn't want to see someone as stunning as me be on the top?"

Sky purses her lips and crosses her arms, squeezing the fabric of her hoodie, as if she was cringing. I don't blame her. She puffs out a breath before looking back up at her again.

"You're just a baby. A sore loser. Bye."

Sky finishes, turning her back on her. The crowd exhales with "oohs" and some laugh at Gemma as she smiles. Why would Gemma want to save someone she does not know? How is the real question. How would she save Sky by cheating? She walks through the crowd, and catching a better glimpse of her, she is very pretty. Her skin is clear, has long curly chocolate hair, reaching to her waist, and eyes that match. When I look beside me, I notice Sky further down the crowd.

She said she was curious. Curious about you.

Phoenix's words come back from earlier.

You didn't do anything horrible, so I wouldn't say anything.

Looking back at the situation, I realize all I wanted to do was compliment her. I wonder why she was so rash and I wonder what she thinks of me is true. She handled Gemma's rambling amazingly. I admire her for that. Taking a deep breath, I walk over to her, tapping her shoulder. She turns her neck to face me.

"Hi..."

I squeak, hoping that she will give a positive reply.

"Hi. Do I know you?"

She asks, raising her brows.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Justice. I met you earlier in the intro game."

I reply, playing with my fingers.

"Oh right. I remember you. What's up?"

I stammer for a bit.

Ask her something. Don't waste her time.

"What's your next activity?"

I ask, trying to hide the fact that I'm nervous. She stammers for a bit before she slips out a small piece of paper from her hoodie pocket.

"Rickety bridge. Why?"

The same as me.

"Me too. I'm asking because I was wondering if you'd like to walk with me there?"

She pauses for a moment, but there is no anger on her face or in her voice.

"Sure. Let's do it."

She replies, making my stomach flutter with happiness. I smile in response, and even though she accepted my offer, the feeling fades with the nature hike situation.
