Chapter eight
Jacob was coming out from magical theory, when he overheard some giggling fairies mentioning Eve. his ears instanting pricked up, trying to catch the words spoken between them.
“She looks like she was going to cry,” one laughed,
“So pathetic,”
“Oh I am so posting it,” another girl grinned, practically giddy.
“There’s a porn site you could do that on, it’s one of those places where people wank to people being humiliated.”
“Gross,” a boy snickered, “but i’m sure she’d fit in on there,”
“She looks like a troll with that swollen nose,”
“Compared to what?” a guy chuckled, “to normally look like a goblin.” all of the fairies burst out laughing at his statement.
Jacob had never felt such wrath, his fists balled together, his nails piercing through the skin of palms, his teeth bared gritting together. His magic buzzed and pulsed around him, in a chaotic swirl, barely in his control, as the rage consumed him.
His eyes keenly studied those in the group, taking note of the ones he knew, he performed a mental spell, one that simple but powerful, when he was finished he smiled, turning away and walking down the corridor to the carpark. Most of the students were heading, it being the end of the school day. Jacob immediately spotted the cars belonging to some in the group, and whipped his waves of magic around him, towards the vehicles, the force and pull strong enough to crash the targeting cars. He whistled, shoving his hands in pockets looking over his handy work, then happily strolled towards his own car. Vlad was leaning against the drivers door,
“I need to speak with-”
“Not now,” Jacob commanded with every once of power in his being. Vlad looked shocked, but not shaken, Jacob receptive that, with any other that would have had them a trembling mess. He frowned, moving away from the car allowing Jacob past.
“You shouldn’t drive that angry,”
“I’m sure I'll survive,” Jacob replied dryly. He climbed into his car and drove away. His hands gripped tightly on the steering wheel, pressing down on the acceleration, needing to see Eve as fast as he could. The bond connecting them reached out for Eve, he felt the familiarity of her mind, and took comfort in the fact that she seemed to be in a happy mood. The whisper of her thoughts filtering through with a musical chime.
Jacob after ten minutes of manoeuvring through traffic arrived at Eves building. He wasted no time, bolting out through his door, normally a building's security tended to be magic proof, but Jacob easily manipulated his magic to let the door think he entered the correct pin code. He jogged up the stairs, coming up to Eves flat door, pressing down on the doorbell which rang out with the theme of hunger of the valley, Jacob couldn’t help but smirk remembering that it was Eves favourite film from her mind.
The door opened revealing Eves mum, Jacob suddenly felt a wave of nerves wash over him, he gulped, wishing he had gone home and changed into at least a better shirt that didn’t smell like frog blood.
“Hi miss Maren,”
Feya raised her brows, “do i know you?”
“No, I'm Jacob, I hope Eve has said something about me,” he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
Feya began to grin widely, “so your the soulmate,”
“I am,” he chuckled, trying not to look bashful. “Is Eve home?”
“Oh,” Feya glanced behind herself, “we’re actually having a family dinner, but i’d be happy if you could join us another time.”
“But-”
“Nice meeting you,” she smiled, as she unabashedly shut the door in his face.
Jacob just stood there, “I'll just go then?” he said to no one.
🪄🪄🪄
Jacob climbed up the fire escape with a grunt, trying to avoid the bird shit and rust. In hindsight he could have spelled himself to Eves window, but Jacob was not ine to think of a plan when his emotions were involved, well at least to an extent. (He couldn't have walked into that bank guns blazes when his dad called and said he 'somehow' found himself robbing a bank. No a plan was definitely needed, despite how angered and annoyed Jacob was at his jelly for brains, man-child, inplusive, drunk and high dad.)
When he finally reached Eve's window Jacob praised the goddesss when he saw that her window was left ajar. He snuck in as quietly as he could, having had practiced many times sneeking into Vlads room so they could go to some party together.
Eves room was empty of the girl, he strolled around the room, tryng not to be too intrusive, but also wanting know all he could about her. He definitely didn't sound or look like a creepy stalker.
When looking around he stubed his foot on something sturdy, looking down to see a hard covered book, that looked tatered and old, he picked up, instantly taken back by the shirtless man with long lustrous hair holding a swooning woman. Closer inspection showed Jacob that it was a centaur historical erotic novel. Jacob with nothing better to do shrugged and flopped back onto Eve's bed, opening up to the first page of the galloping of lust.
By the time Eve emerged into her room, Jacob was fully engrossed by the starcross romance, "oh Lyra you idoit he's using you to get your title," he grumbled as he turned the page.
"Jacob?"
"The fuck!" He exclaimed, "Lyra can not marry that piece of shit, David is your your love, you fucking idiot."
"Jacob?"
"Goddesss if only David wasn't framed for the murder of viscount Westerfield,"
"Jacob what are you doing in my room?"
Jacob finally heard Eve and dropped the book, kicking it off the bed. "Not reading some cheesey, romance porn,"
Eve raised her brow almost in the same manner as her mum, "is this a normal thing guys do?"
Jacob scratched his chin, "no, I'm just being super weird and strange,"
"Compared to your normal cocky self," Eve smirked, though she stood awkwardly, jacob grinned at the sight, he patted the space beside himself on the bed, "i came here because i wanted to see you, i was worried about you."
The colour drained from her face as she stumbled back, jacob jumped off the bed rushing to Eve as she began hugging herself breathing heavily, her eyes clouding with tears.
"Did-did you see it, did someone tell you," her vouce quaked, it broke Jacobs heard, he held her shoulders firmly pushing her to his chest.
"I haven't seen anything, i just over heard some perthetic faeries talking." He stroked her nack trying to calm her, "breathe, baby, please just rake slow deep breaths,"
"Everyone is going to know they've probably already sent it all over school,"
"Eve-"
She sobbed, "it was horrible, what dod i do? I don't know what i did, i-i tried to ignore it but why me? I didn't ask to be like i-"
"Eve," jacob roared sternly, Eve looked up with big doe eyes, "baby breathe, please. Do it with me," he coached her as they both took deep breaths.
"I'm sorry," Eve trembled after a few moments.
Jacob frowned not helping the rage filling him, "sorry? You shouldn't be fucking sorry, it's tjose bellebds that need to be sorry messing with my soulmate,"
"It's fine Jacob-"
"It's not," he nearly shouted, "you just had a panic attack, and goddess your nose is red and swollen,"
"Just from-"
"Don't." He shook, "tell me everything," he pulled her closer to him, leading them to the bed to sit down, "start to end." Eve gulped but nodding as she told him what happened…
