The ringing of the school bell and the sounds of students woke Vallin up from his slumber. He turned his head towards the window as he rubbed the sleepiness out of his eyes. When he was done rubbing his eyes, he fixed his locs and pulled out his phone. It was just a minute after class was supposed to start. He put his phone up and turned his head to look around the classroom.
The teacher still hadn’t arrived,so his classmates were socializing with each other, hugging old friends and talking about what they did during their summer vacation. None of his classmates attempted to start a conversation with Vallin, but he did catch a few of his classmates sneaking glances at him. The girls who would glance over would quickly look away, giggle and whisper with their friends, no doubt comparing and contrasting him to the boys of their school. The boys who would glance over weren’t interested in his face unlike the girls. No, they were trying to decide whether or not they should go over to him and put him in his place. That is what Vallin assumed his male classmates were thinking. It wouldn’t surprise him if it was true, especially since his former male classmates had a similar mindset.
There were four reasons why guys at his former school would bother him. The first reason tended to be that they saw him as a weak target, someone they can easily take their anger out on. The second reason would be they found out about his eyes. The third reason would be that they were jealous of his good grades and intelligence. The final reason would be because they were scared of him.
Vallin let out a yawn and stretched, choosing to ignore the glances of both parties. Though it didn’t stop him from hoping that his current male classmates wouldn’t make the same mistakes as his prior male classmates. He didn’t want to soil his new uniform with blood on the first day of school. Even if it would send a message to the other students who wanted to cause problems for him.
While he was thinking, an older man with a mustache walked into the room and stood behind the teacher’s desk. His classmates who weren't in their seats made their way to their desks, and those who were talking ended their conversations. It wasn’t until everyone was settled into their seats when their teacher began to speak.
“Good morning to you all. Welcome back to school,” Their teacher greeted them with a small smile. “And to those of you who are new, I welcome you to Pandora Hill Academia.”
As the teacher said this, his gaze went straight to Vallin before returning back to the rest of the class. All of his classmates followed the older man’s gaze and for a split second Vallin was in the spotlight. Vallin suppressed frowning at his teacher for putting him on the spot and kept a straight face at the attention he was given.
“My name is Mr. Mallory and I’ll be your science teacher for this year.” His teacher continued on, ignoring his student’s discomfort, and writing his name out on the whiteboard with a black dry erase marker.
After Mr. Mallory got through introducing himself, he finally began class. Since it was the first day, he didn’t give them anything difficult. He gave out simple classwork and gave them a quiz to test their knowledge of the class. Vallin finished early and doodled flowers on his classwork papers until the class ended. He was the first one out the door when the bell rang and quickly made his way to his next period.
His next class was uneventful and went by slowly. He did notice that he shared that class with the girl who bumped into him earlier that morning. She was too focused on her classwork to notice him, which was fine as long as the brunette didn't give him another injury alongside his bruised arm.
The only thing that happened in Vallin's third period was the teacher handing out three pages of homework to the class.
Vallin was still cursing the female math teacher in his head as he arrived at his final period.
For the first time that day, there were a few students who made it to class before him. Vallin was about to walk inside the classroom when he caught a glimpse of pink hair. At the exact same time he noticed the pink hair, the owner of that hair color turned her head and saw him. The female student somehow made eye contact with Vallin's eyes, which were hidden behind his locs.
He froze as a look of recognition flashed in the girl's purple eyes. While still keeping eye contact with him, Vallin watched as the pink girl opened her mouth to say something to him, when the rest of their classmates decided to appear at the door.
Hearing the footsteps and voices of his fellow students snapped Vallin and the pink-haired girl out of their staring contest. He was still standing in the doorway, getting in the way of the students, so he moved away from the door. Ignoring the gaze burning the side of his face, he quickly found a seat that was far away from the pink-haired girl.
As he sat there, Vallin thought back to his first meeting with the girl. He wasn't the nicest towards the girl. Which was rude considering she was only trying to help him. Sure, he was sleepy and in pain but that wasn't an excuse for his behavior towards the nice girl. The more he thought about his encounter with the girl, the more guilt started to eat away at his heart.
It wasn't until the teacher began class when he finally made a decision. Vallin was going to apologize to the pink haired girl but he didn't know when he was going to do so. The only reason why he wasn't apologizing that day was due to the fact that he was still feeling bad about the way he treated the girl earlier.
Vallin made it through his last period without any other issues. He expected the pink haired girl to approach him after the bell had rung for the end of class. However, the girl packed up her belongings and left the classroom alongside some of their classmates, but not before shooting a smile in Vallin's direction.
After seeing her smile, Vallin felt his guilt slightly easing. It seems the girl didn't hold anything against him. That was good news for him since it would make apologizing easier.
With a small smile, Vallin gathered up his belongings and left the classroom. The halls were filled with kids much to his displeasure. He entered the sea of purple and yellow uniforms and eventually made his way out of the main building. Most of the students were heading to the dining hall for lunch but there were some, like him, who were going to the dormitory. Vallin wanted to drop off his belongings in his room before going to lunch.
Once he was done, he went to retrieve his lunch from the dining hall. The line was long despite him arriving later. He decided to eat his food outside on a bench. Classes were done for the day, so he had nothing but freetime until it was time for lights out. As he ate his turkey sandwich, Vallin tried to figure out how he was going to spend his free time.
