We fell into bed together, our laughter filling the room, and the tension from the conversation earlier was forgotten. One talk wasn’t going to be enough to solve everything, but it helped me feel lighter and showed me that Lucas wasn't as perfect as I once thought he was.
Lucas reached one hand out slowly, cradling my cheek in his palm. His thumb ran slowly across my cheek, falling on the very corner of my mouth.
My breath stopped and before I could process what I was doing, my lips crashed into his, my fingers found the bottom of his braid and I pulled the band out, loosening his hair so I could lace my fingers through it.I could hear a startled moan followed by a deep groan escape from Lucas, his lips moving in sync with mine and he deepened the kiss second by second. I pushed him away briefly, causing him to fall onto his back before I straddled his waist and leaned back down to kiss him again, sliding my tongue slowly across his bottom lip.
He opened his mouth and I smiled, before sliding my tongue in, twirling it around his.
His hands gripped my hips, and I couldn't resist the urge to grind against him, that simple movement earning me a growl from deep in Lucas' chest.
Lucas slowly pulled away from the kiss and squeezed my hips, a sigh falling as he stared into my eyes.
“We… we cant. I have to work in 3 hours. You’re emotional after our talk. I love this. I love how you feel right now, but I can wait until you’re in a better headspace okay? I want to. God… Adrian, I want you. But I can’t. Not yet. Okay? It’s not you. I want us to both be good before we take that step. Try and trust me.”
Lucas leaned up and pressed his lips to my forehead.
The simple gesture was more overwhelming than anything I had ever felt.
I stared down at him, before throwing my arms around his neck and pinning him back down to the bed.
I could feel my entire body shudder and I started to cry.
“Baby. Baby boy, no, why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?” Lucas rambled out quickly, rubbing my back in small circles.
Without looking up, I rested my forehead against his shoulder, “You are, beyond a doubt, the best person I have ever met. I don’t deserve this. I would have done whatever you wanted. That's what is expected of me. My feelings don’t matter.”
Lucas sighed, his fingers trailing up and down my spine, and I could feel his touch linger, his attention caught occasionally on a scar he would pass.
He whispered softly in my ear, “You are in charge here Addi. You make the choices. We go at your pace. All decisions are yours. I will not touch you until you allow me. I am not going to expect anything from you. You decide what we do, when, and how. I just want to be with you. I only stopped tonight because I have to. I also have a promise to keep, don’t I? I will tell you how I got my scar, and all my pain if you’re still here when I get home from work. I don’t want to rush this, and if you decided to leave after we… uh… ya know… it would be hard for me to recover from. Come on. Let’s get some sleep.”
I slowly crawled out of Lucas’ lap and lay on my side under the sheet. I closed my eyes and fought down the rest of the tears that threatened to escape me when I felt his arms wrap around my waist and lips press into the back of my neck.
“Goodnight Addi,” he yawned loudly, nuzzling the back of my head.
“Goodnight Luca,” I whispered, squeezing one of the arms that he had wrapped around my waist.
The sunlight was pouring through the windows of the house when I was stirred awake by the sound of Crowley barking excitedly.
Throwing one of Lucas' sweaters on to cover my bare chest, (but once again forgetting pants), I flew quickly down the stairs to check on the commotion.
Throwing the front door open, I ran out onto the porch, quickly crashing into the chest of something… someone incredibly large and wide.
I looked up slowly and choked out a hello.
Who are you?
What are you doing here?
Why are you so... large?
“Hiya! I’m Jace! Didn’t Luca tell you we were coming by for a few days?”
“Uh… no? Wait… we?” I took a step back to increase the distance between myself and the giant man standing in front of me.
“Yayo I’m here too!” responded a voice from behind Jace, and a man with shoulder-length chestnut red hair and hazel eyes stepped out from behind him. He was roughly my size, but clearly, he had been eating well.
“I’m Gabriel. Just call me Gabe. You must be Alex? Addi? Adderall? I can’t remember but it’s fine! Let’s be friends!” Gabriel finished his rapid-fire speech by quickly wrapping me in a hug.
Let go of me.
Please.
I don't... like this.
I panicked and softly began patting Gabe on his back. I was growing more uncomfortable by the second.
“Gabe… honey… release him please,” Jace commanded softly, his hand resting on Gabe’s head.
“Fine fine yes whatever you say,” Gabriel laughed out in response, finally releasing me.
I took the opportunity to step around the 2 strange men and grab Crowley's leash from the porch so that I could go get the pup out of his run. He was clearly overexcited.
As soon as my feet hit the grass, I could feel someone's arms wrap around my waist and take me to the ground.
I flipped around quickly to see who had grabbed me and my face contorted in anger as I realized that it was Gabe.
“What the FUCK are you doing?” I snarled at him.
“This is how I make friends. I tackle you, we wrestle, you love me forever, and you make my brother-in-law very happy. That's my plan.”
I scoffed, waiting for the punchline, before realizing he was deadly serious.
“Your plan to get me to stay with Luca was to tackle me, wrestle, and then we would become friends? Did I get that right?”
“Yeee. You’re smart,” Gabriel laughed, his arms still wrapped around me.
The sound of a car door slamming and someone hopping over a fence broke me and Gabriel out of the conversation and we both looked for the source of the sound.
“Oye. What the hell are you doing to him?” a deep voice commanded and I sighed with relief when I realized that it was Lucas.
“Making friends Luca Pooka. Isn’t this how we became friends? Remember?” Gabriel smiled, finally releasing me.
I ran and stood behind Lucas, peering out from behind him at Gabriel and Jace.
“Control your boyfriend, you dipshit,” Lucas yelled pointedly at Jace who had taken a seat on the porch and watched the entire interaction happen.
“Nah he doesn’t listen to me you know that,” Jace got up and stretched, before descending the steps and wrapping his older (and shorter) brother in a hug, “I missed you.”
“Yeah, I missed you too. Welcome back. Why don’t you and Gabe take your stuff inside and settle in? We’ll be right there,” Lucas finished his sentence by reaching back and grabbing my hand, squeezing it gently.
I clung to his grip, wrapping my other hand around his as well.
Gabriel and Jace looked at us and then at each other before they started laughing and heading off to their car to gather their bags.
“Hey, Luca… Why didn’t you tell me they were coming?” I whispered softly, standing on my tiptoes in my best effort to reach Lucas’ ear.
“What? I did. I left you a note on my pillow. I didn’t find out until I was leaving this morning,” he softly pressed his lips to my temple.
“Ah… yeah that makes sense. I didn’t get the note. I woke up to Crowley freaking out so I came running outside and literally ran into your brother.”
“That explains a lot. It also explains why you’re pantsless. Don’t wrestle my future brother-in-law in your briefs again, please. I’m kinda jealous.”
“OH SHIT,” I yelled out looking down at my legs, then at Lucas, and finally at Gabe and Jace before running back into the house and up the stairs, my face bright red.
It had been a long time since I had been embarrassed like this. I grabbed the first pair of jeans I could find, and fixed my hair, before heading back down the stairs.
I couldn't hear the entire conversation, but it seemed to revolve around Jace's upcoming birthday.
“...Yeah well not everyone can be a monster at 16. Besides your birthday is in 3 days. You’ll be 18. Finally a legal adult.”
“WHERE’S THE FUN IN THAT LUCAS. I prefer it this way. It’s kinky,” Gabriel screeched from the dining room, having been listening to the brother's conversation.
“Don’t be gross Gabe. I can still throw you out. Plus I know for a fact the 2 of you haven’t done anything yet. I would kill you,” Lucas pretended to gag, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, you’re right. Hurry up and turn 18 already. I have a year's worth of pent-up energy for you,” Gabriel said to Jace, licking his bottom lip.
“You guys are nasty. I could hear you from Lucas’ old room. Don’t be weird,” I walked over and linked my arm through Lucas’.
Lucas leaned down and softly kissed the top of my head.
“So… what now?” Jace laughed looking at everyone in turn.
