With time to spare I decided to look at furniture for my dear old friend. Maybe he was right. I should just accept this and ignore this gnawing feeling. The feeling that all this is terribly wrong. After leaving the jerk behind I decided to keep my mind off things by doing some shopping. I did need some new clothes. I wouldn't go and buy clothes made of fancy materials. I didn't need to have luxury items. Especially where I am living. Plus, if people saw me wearing expensive clothing they may try to take it for themselves. I hope that wouldn't be the case.

Thinking on this I decided to look at some couches that weren't too expensive. As soon as I considered this option I saw a beautiful aqua velvet couch. Its legs decorated in golden paint. It looked very comfy and despite myself I walked into the store. I couldn't spend too much time here since I have to go over to Thomas's place for dinner. The store owner was sitting behind the counter and eyes me as soon as I walked in. I inspected the sofa in the showcase and touched the seat of it. It was indeed plus and comfy. The man seemed to be ignoring me. I walked to where he was sitting.

"I would like that couch over there. The one in velvet." He studied me and saw I was serious. "It's a beauty isn't it. It's a little on the high end." I promptly told him I could afford it and brought out my wallet. Then I sat the money on the counter. He looked taken aback, but beamed back at me. "Where would you want it delivered sir?" I told him the address and that is was for an old friend of mine. "I see." He said nothing more. Gave me my receipt and sent me on way way out with a bow. I smelled delicious pastries being freshly baked when I came out. I had almost forgotten how close in proximity the bakery was to this area. I walked my way over and had the brilliant idea of bringing some dessert over.

The older lady at the front warmly welcomed me inside. In the display counter there were pastries of all kinds. From brownies to croissants. I picked out some raspberry Danishes and macaroons. I also grabbed some blueberry muffins that looked too tasty to pass up. After they were all put into a bag I walked around till it was time to see him. It was wonderful not to be working in that stuffy factory anymore. Just splendid to be able to have some freedom. The sun was beginning to set with magnificent colors lighting up the sky once more. Nature never failed to amaze me. I arrived in front of the factory with sweets in hand.

Thomas was patiently waiting for me outside. "Hi! I hope I didn't have you waiting too long." He smiled. "No, what's in the bag?" He said pointedly. "Oh, some muffins and other goodies. They're for after dinner." "Thanks. I really appreciate it." He also had the bag filled with the toys I got the children. As we walked I asked him about work. It was just as it always was. Monotonous with a dash of annoying. People were always being scrutinized by the manager for not doing their job "properly." It was good to know he was in too much shock to keep up with being rude for the day. We rounded the corner to some shabby apartments.

It's not going to be smooth sailing, that's for sure, but Xavier is going about it as best he can.

All Xavier ever wanted was to be a published author. Unfortunately the association has different plans. Creativity is controlled in his country and punishable by jail time. While he tries to go with the flow, there is something inside his that tells him to fight.
