Toby: “Hey man there you are! Now where do you need to go to be safe?”
Michael: “I need to get to my Aunt Jarlean but her house is on the other side of the mall. We need to pass through the mall to get there but I can’t go alone so that's why you're here.”
Toby: “ I understand the situation. We need a good disguise so you don’t seem suspicious.”
Toby: “ I can get you a mask and blanket so people think you are sick and avoid you.”
Michael: “That's a good idea you finally said something smart for once.”
Toby: “Hey! Anyway we better get going while we can.”
Michael: “You're right but where are we going to get a blanket?”
Toby: “I will go back home, stay here and be careful.”
Michael: “Ok go now we don’t have much time!”
Toby ran off and 10 minutes later came back with a big pink bunny blanket.
Michael: “ Dude I’m not wearing that!”
Toby: “ Aww but dude please?”
Michael: “(Sigh) Fine”
Toby: “If you want to complete the look you can wear makeup too.”
Michael: “ I don’t want to but it will be better than being experimented on.”
Toby: “ Here is the plan: you act like a sick little kid and I act like your older brother trying to get you medicine.”
We got to the mall and the plan was working. The guards turned a blind eye and our acting was paying off. I have never been so scared to see people around me. We almost got caught at one point but we were safe. All of a sudden we heard a loud noise but it wasn’t one we ever heard in our lives. The mall was filled with a smoke the more you looked at it the more it changed color. It was red and then purple and then blue.
It was fading through random colors and even ones we have never seen before. We looked around and everyone was asleep or dead on the floor of the mall. With the rising panic there wasn't time to check. Suddenly there was a voice unfamiliar, serious, and stern. It said, “You thought you could get away? You have been mistaken.”
Toby yelled something like, “Look out!” Suddenly there was a noise. I knew instantly it was a gunshot and it was ringing through my ear. I fell to the floor. The panic and confusion kept me from feeling the pain. My vision was fading to a red, a very deadly yet beautiful shade of red. Toby ran to me while he was speaking. I could hear noise coming for him but I couldn’t hear or sound out the words.
The image of Toby was slowly fading into darkness. I could see he was yelling and crying but I heard nothing. I could only mudder the words ,“G-good bye my dear friend” and as all I could see was darkness. The last tought I had was, “We were too late.”
