Dave and Tyler ended up being buddies again and our band of two misfits has officially grown to three. At first it was a little awkward since Tyler and I were so close, and Dave still had trouble gaining Tyler’s trust. However, they now sat with each other in class, and I noticed Tyler’s suspicious amount of fruit snacks perking up his mood each Monday.
Their relationship was completely different from Tyler and mine. They acted like they were shocked if they touched and could barely sit next to each other during movie night.
Now I get why but little middle school me thought it was because they still didn’t like each other.
I decided to take everyone to the skate park during our summer break since my family had given me a “graduation” present of a skateboard. They celebrate every end of the school year like a huge graduation when in reality I just get to have a slightly bigger locker next year and a new schedule. “Graduation” is a bit of a stretch in my opinion, but I was excited to have a board.
I convinced Dave and Tyler to get some as well and we spent hours there everyday learning. Or just falling until we were bruised enough to admit defeat for the day. we would watch videos and ask the older kids at the skate park for tips whenever we could.
When fall was rolling in, we got pretty good and could ride all the way to school without taking a bite of the road which was pretty exciting for us.
Tyler started playing basketball more frequently that summer and my guy looked way bigger after the summer was over. He finally had definitive muscles in his arms and his calves were finally bigger and a diseased chickens. He got a better diet and a whole workout routine started. I liked to think he was turning into a Gronk, but he’s sensitive so I kept that to myself.
He decided this year he was gonna try out for every team he could and not let the bullies get to him. He was most interested in baseball, basketball, track, and lacrosse. Dave and I supported the decision all the way and went to every game we could.
That said, I have the attention span of a gnat.it was the first basketball game of the year and Tyler looked like a new dude out there. I decided to take a detour during the game against the Cordale Cobras and got some food. Since Dave was too preoccupied watching the game, or just Tyler, and they were sweeping the other team I thought I could sneak away from some fun.
I got skittles, four airheads and a sprite. As I turned around, I smacked right into a flesh wall. Luckily, I didn’t get hurt on my fall, but I did land on another person.
