Wes
Wes could say with certainty that he was not in his right mind when he broke into the cabin. It just looked so warm and inviting to the emotionally exhausted omega.
When Wes squeezed himself through an open window and hit the floor hard, he thought he was screwed.
That was it. The owners of the cabin were about to put him out of his misery.
Featherlight steps preceded a tall, rugged-looking Alpha. Wes’s mouth went dry at the large man’s broad chest and curious eyes.
Woah, this Alpha was attractive and oddly familiar.
Unconsciously, Wes felt his pale wings flutter. Puffing out the pretty snow-white inner feathers.
Was he preening to this Alpha?
Wes felt mortified when the Alpha didn’t react to his weird mating display, just raised a thick eyebrow in confusion.
Thankfully, another, much lighter, set of feet followed the Alpha, cutting off the odd tension.
“Wes?”
“Milo!”
The two omegas flung themselves at each other. Wes breathed in Milo’s calming scent, relaxing for the first time in days.
The twinkling of glassware brought Wes’ eyes back to the Alpha, who was fumbling around in the kitchenette.
Milo followed Wes’ eyes.
“Oh! Wes, this is my Alpha, Jasper.” Wes felt like hitting his head. Of course, the Alpha looked familiar. He had been chasing them down just a few days ago.
The Alpha in question brought over two glasses of tea for the omegas.
This was odd. Why was the Alpha acting this nice?
After Wes had taken a few cautious sips of the earthy tasting tea, the Alpha pulled Wes’s hand into a firm handshake. It warmed Wes to his core to be treated like a person again.
“Good to meet you officially. Milo talked about you a lot.”
“All good things, I swear!” Milo elbowed the Alpha. “Jasper just enjoys making me sound like an asshole.”
Wes felt the blood drain from his face. Surely now the Alpha would put Milo in his place for the disrespect.
Instead, the intimidating-looking Alpha let out a deep laugh, looking at Milo like he hung the moon. Like he was something precious.
Wes abruptly felt nauseous with jealousy.
Why was Wes the one who ended up with the piece of shit Alpha?
Who decided that Milo and Faun would get Alpha’s that cherished them? Loved them?
What did they have that Wes didn’t?
Wes was so busy stewing in his thoughts that he didn’t notice Milo’s hand creep up towards his neck.
When Milo's hand came in contact with the scar on his neck, he flinched back as if burned.
“No, tell me that’s not what I think it is!” Milo’s voice was thick with emotion.
Wes desperately needed Milo to stop looking at him as a victim. Like he needed pity.
“Yeah, my Alpha gave me the mating bite, the bastard.” Wes tried to sound blasé but failed spectacularly.
“Sonofabitch.” The Alph- Jasper sounded murderous. Wes felt breathless at the rage painting the handsome Alpha’s features.
Jasper looked deep into Wes’ eyes. “You're safe now. We’ll protect you from your Alpha.”
Oh no… no, no, no, this was not good.
Against his will, Wes felt his heart beat faster at the Alpha’s words.
Wes couldn’t look at Milo. He knew the other Omega would see Wes's deep blush.
Wes was falling for Jasper, hard.
Outside, a winged Alpha silently circled a dilapidated cabin.
