It was almost two months after the incident with her father and Sans in the woods. And Ronald barely ever spoke a word to her. Not like it wasn't the first time that he gave her the silent treatment. But this time felt different. Something was going on. It wasn't till one morning that she got up to go to school that she found out the hard way.
She woke up and got ready for the day. She looked at herself in the mirror to make sure everything was alright. She noticed that her stomach looked a little bloated. But she just chalked it up to her gaining weight for not exercising for the past few months… ok almost a year. But she had her reasons. And one of those reasons she had to go make breakfast for now. If he IS here and not at an early morning Monday special at the local bar/diner. She walked to the kitchen and went towards the fridge to get the eggs. But that was until she saw a letter taped on the fridge.
'Huh. That's new. Usually he just walks out without leaving a no---.'
It was then that she finally processed what the letter said. Her father abandoned her.
Lorraine,
Every time I see you, all I can see is them. Your sister. Your mother. Ever since they died, my life’s been hell and you haven’t made it easy. I can’t stand it anymore Lorraine. I’m gone. I don’t care what you do next with your life or what you do with the house. I’m not coming back.
Ronald Warren
Lorraine read the short letter over a dozen times and she still can't seem to believe it.
'He finally snapped…' she then ran towards his room. Everything of his was still there. Even his wallet.
"No….no, no, no, nononononono!"
She tried to call him on his cell but only got the dial tone. She then called 9-1-1. By this time the whole sector of the station knew her number by heart.
"What's it about Lorraine?" One of the operator ladies drawled.
"This isn't the time Carol! Ronald finally snapped! He left a note about leaving but he left all his stuff here! Even his money! And I can't reach him on his cell! I have no idea where he is! Send the coppers out. NOW!!!" Lorraine snapped.
You could tell that the lady was a bit taken aback and then began to panic but tried to remain professional.
"Okay, just stay calm Lorraine. I'm sending over half the units to find him. One of the officers will be there with you in a few minutes. Just breathe." Carol said as calmly as she could.
"Okay…" Lorraine felt dizzy and sat down on the sofa. Breakfast long forgotten and the eggs left shattered on the floor. 'A mess to handle later.' she thought bitterly.
The whole day was spent with giving details on her relationship between her and her father and where his usual places he'd usually go to for the police. By the time the authorities found him, his body was found at the outer edge of the woods leading out of Ebott. The police concluded that it was a fatal gunshot wound driven by suicide.
Hours later, Lorraine just sat there, on the couch numb everywhere. She only had him left. He treated her like crap, but he was the only connection that she had to her happier past. And now…
"He's gone."
A few days went by and by now everyone in town, even the media, knew of the death of her father. It just made things, especially rumors, about her worse. She hasn't left the house in days. And she only left occasionally to turn in her schoolwork when she absolutely had to. But on the positive side of this whole mess, was that a few days ago,the monsters were officially released and had some basic rights that the humans had. There was still a lot more work to do in that area, but at least they could now live peacefully with the humans. Some humans held hate towards them. And they made that ABUNDANTLY clear to them in a lot of ways. BUT! There was a growing rise of monster sympathizers and supporters as well and they have even formed the Monster Protection and Civil Rights committee. Officially licensed by local governors and such.
Lorraine hasn't seen Sans ever since she came to him to confide to him on what happened with her father. He was her rock as she cried and sobbed for hours.
'I can only imagine the chaos that's going on with him and his family with moving and stuff. He's probably busy. Uggggghhhhh…. I don't feel so good… maybe I just ate something ba----.'
Before she finished that thought, she ran towards the bathroom and promptly threw her guts out in the toilet.
'Well, so much for eating today… I feel like shi---'
She kept vomiting for about a few hours. By the time she was done, it was already afternoon.
She sprawled out on her bed and whined out a painful "Whhhhhhyyyyyyy????"
She texted Sans and told him that she wasn't feeling too good and that if he wanted to do anything with her tonight, to just come over and maybe have a movie night with her.
