"I don't need you hovering," Levi murmured as he served Elijah a tea, his soulmate taking it with a smile and handing Levi a twenty dollar bill with a wink. "It's a loss of money if you give it here because they just split it up at the end of the night anyway."
Elijah huffed. "I'm trying to score points with the cute barista and he's not having it," he mumbled, drinking the tea.
"No, he's not," Levi said, a small smile gracing his face at how dorky Elijah was. "But he might let you score some points with him after his shift."
"You're so cute when you try to be sexy," Elijah cooed, making Levi blush. "But you're also sexy at the same time so it's a win-win for me."
Levi bit the inside of his cheek to keep from smiling. "I have to get back to work," he said as Elijah's phone rang, Greyson's icon popping up on the screen. "And you have a call to take."
Elijah pouted but answered as Levi waved and walked back behind the counter. "You ruined me making moves on Levi," he scowled into the phone, relishing in Greyson deep laughter over the phone.
"Hello to you too, beautiful," Greyson said, before his voice dropped to a more serious tone. "I need a favor, babe."
"If it requires me leaving-"
"It does," Greyson cut off, speaking again before Elijah could complain. "I need you to help me at the store. I've got a bunch of new shipments and I'm not taking it all. You've got the best eye and you can tell what's good and what I should send back."
Elijah knew that he was the best, all narcissism aside. He loved choosing the jewelry and it was midday, so he didn't think Levi would be in a lot of danger if he left him alone.
"Fine. I'll be there in twenty minutes." Elijah grumbled, standing up with his tea and running to the desk so he could speak with Levi. "I have to go help Greyson with some shipments. I'll be back-"
Levi shook his head. "No, you help there," he said, smiling at his soulmate. "I'll be fine here and my shift is almost done anyway. I'll be there at four."
Elijah groaned, annoyed that everyone was acting like Levi was perfectly okay, even Levi himself. It was as if he didn't have a horrible breakdown the night before and that everything was perfect.
"Don't be late," Elijah said, knowing that Levi would just get frustrated if he tried to call Greyson back and say he actually wanted to stay behind with Levi. "I swear, if you're not there by four fifteen, I'll come back here and kick your ass."
Levi nodded. "I'll be fine," he said, leaning over the counter to kiss Elijah's cheek. "Yesterday was just an emotional day for me and I had a weird panic attack."
"You had every right to freak out," Elijah said, glaring at his boyfriend. "Don't you dare invalidate your feelings or I'll have two reasons to kick your ass."
"Got it," Levi promised, smiling. "Now go pick some jewelry and move so I can take the next order."
Elijah took one last glance at Levi before leaving and catching a bus. He had a bad feeling in his gut, but he was going to trust Levi saying it was paranoia and an overreaction.
Maybe it was just jealousy.
Yeah, that made sense. His gut always hurt when he got really jealous, and Elijah still felt jealous when he saw Levi's coworker. He was sure that was just his natural response to other people being around his soulmate, and he was still sensitive from seeing Levi so distressed the night before.

"What do you think of these ones, sir?" the provider asked, showing Elijah another box of diamonds.
Elijah wrinkled his nose. "I'd be interested if they weren't the shittiest quality," he said, picking one up with his tweezers and put it under the microscope. "Do you not check the damage of your product? You can see the fragments divided all over this one, and I'd say this one is one of the best in the box!"
The provider's face flushed. "Well..."
Greyson shook his head. "Either get us better quality or we'll get a new provider," he scolded, towering over the provider.
He could tell the provider was trying to sell them shitty jewels for a big price, his face dripping with sweat because he'd been called out.
Greyson looked into his eyes, reading the greed in the man's eyes, making it easy to pull him into a trance. "Is this all you have?" he asked, and the man shook his head no in a dazed fashion. "Go get the good stuff and you'll get something nice for it."
The provider took his broken jewels and locked the box, moving like a zombie out to his truck so he could replace the horrible quality gems with better ones.
"What's on your mind, love?" Greyson asked, watching Elijah constantly check his phone. "It's only three fifty-five. Plus, city buses are never reliable."
Elijah groaned. "He said he'd be on time, and he's paranoid enough to know that on-time is late!" he complained.
"He's alright, E," Greyson said as the provider handed him a thick box, already unlocked.
Elijah checked the quality of those diamonds and was much more pleased by how they looked. "These are much better," he said, lifting a smaller one and showing it to Greyson. "Get this one made into a necklace for me."
Greyson chuckled and put the diamond into a separate box, hiding it in a drawer. He wrote a check for the provider and handed it to the man, locking the box and placing it into a safe in his office.
"Have a nice day," Greyson said, knowing the sum he'd written was the bare minimum he'd spend and that the man wouldn't ever realize that he'd accepted such a small amount, even after he broke out of his daze.
"It's four," Elijah said, both he and Greyson rushing to the front of the shop to greet their soulmate. "Where is he?"
Greyson felt a pang in his gut. "He'll be here. Buses are known for being late," he repeated, eyes locked on the door as he grabbed Elijah's hand.
They waited in silence for twenty minutes when the door burst open and a young man that Elijah recognized burst in.
"Y-You are the boyfriend!"
"Who are you?" Greyson asked as Elijah scowled.
"That's Levi's idiot coworker who I hate," Elijah groused. "Fredi, right?"
Fredi grinned. "You remember me?" he asked, before his grin fell. "It doesn't matter, Levi got sick during work!"
"Sick?" Greyson asked, confused by the quick-talking Italian man. "He was fine this morning."
"Yes, he was at work, and then when his shift ended he left the store and passed out!"
"Then why are you here and not with him?!" Elijah yelled, pushing Fredi against the wall and grinding his teeth in anger. "You idiot!"
Fredi's eyes were wide. "A man came down the street and said he was a doctor and said that he would call the paramedics and that I should find his family! You are the only ones I know of that have a connection with Levi!”
Greyson's eyes were wide, his heart racing in his chest. "We need to go. Now!"
They locked the store and all three of them clambered into Greyson's car and sped the short drive to the cafe.
“Did he give you a hospital name?” Elijah asked, looking around wildly for any sign of his soulmate.
Fredi showed them where Levi passed out, but they couldn't find any signs.
"I can show you the videos!" Fredi said, grabbing Elijah's hand, but Elijah pulled his hand away with a glare.
"What videos?" Greyson asked, too busy looking up and down the street to find his beloved.
Fredi paused to think. "The cameras!" he corrected after, rushing to their back room and showing the playback video.
"There," Elijah whispered, watching Levi depart and suddenly collapse.
Then, Fredi came rushing out and began to check Levi's pulse, but he was shoved out of the way by a man who appeared to be in his late early forties. He yelled something at Fredi and the man took off down the street, checking his phone as he ran, presumably to search where Levi's boyfriends that he spoke so highly of worked.
Once Fredi was gone, the man lifted Levi up, constantly looking over his shoulder and climbed into his car after laying Levi in the back.
"He's gone," Greyson whispered, his voice broken. “That man definitely did not call the paramedics.”
Elijah laid his face on Greyson's shoulder. "I knew something was wrong!" he shouted, eyes watery. "I felt something in my gut! I felt like something was wrong but I brushed it off!"
Fredi frowned. "I'm sorry, I don't know your protocols so I did what that man said," he apologized.
Greyson hugged Elijah's shaking frame, trembling from anger and fear for Levi.
"I don't blame you," Greyson said to Fredi as he simultaneously tried to comfort Elijah. "Levi's told us about you and we know you are not ill intentioned and that you tried to help him."
Fredi sighed. "I have to go back to work, please do whatever you want with the footage," he said. "Shall I call the authorities?"
Elijah wiped his tears and shook his head and took a copy of the tape. "We can take care of this," he said, glaring at the tape as Fredi nodded and left.
"What do you mean?" Greyson asked once they were alone.
"Alastor is going to want to see this," Elijah growled. "He's powerful and he'll be able to track Levi down and help us punish the man who took him."
Greyson's eyes hardened at the statement. "Let's go."
