The Resilient
16:36
He had to find that holo-tab, no matter what. Unfortnutley though Solaforma was his only suspect, the ice cold, machine like girl Solaforma. He tried to find any falter in her words as she tried to explain she didn't have it but he couldn't find a single sign proving her innocence nor the possibility of underlying guilt. It was all because of her stone like persona. At least with the secretary in the school office and his teacher he could tell they weren't lying as they did little human things that everyone does when they're being absolutely truthful. Solaforma didn't do human things, in fact he wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't-
He cut the thought off. He wasn't one to talk when he also has a trait that made him seem anything else but human.
He releases a sigh as he continues walking along the desolate sidewalk. Always quite, always alone.
As he walks, the scenery of mansions to his right gradually morph into homes with larger yards, then a sudden nine foot tall brick wall that was looming bitterly over him. He glances to the top, taking into account the small, black boxes that are placed every three feet along the top of the bricks. These small motion sensors are a subtle reminder to the public eye that this is the beginning of the multimillion dollar Tore property.
The Tore family is the fifteenth richest family in the world with more than ten properties in the northern hemisphere alone, not to mention their influence in all holo technology, including over a hundred small independent businesses. Although they tell the public they are the fifteenth the truth of the matter was they are in fact the sixth richest family in the world. Ansidara's mother went through unimaginable feats just to make sure it appeared they were the fifteenth, all in hopes that her public image may be liked more because of the fact they were worth a couple million less then they claimed.
His mother had always did everything she possibly could to appeal to the people, all for her political career where her motto was "To serve the community was to serve herself."
One of the main ways she was able to gain the favor of the people was by publicly disclosing her family affairs and letting many districts well aware she was an open, relatable, book. The main sob story she used during the beginning of her political career was the fact that she was the result of an affair and grew up in Evergreen District poor with a single mother. It wasn't until she was fifteen did she learn her father was amazingly the heir to the multibillion holotab industry. By the age of twenty five she had both a successful political career and her father's love helping her to become the heiress to the holotab company.
The previous heir, her father, died from a sudden heart attack just months after he received the company and that meant that Tomi Noko Tore now had power over all of the holo-tab industry. With all the money any human could wish for and the growing political influence she wisely catered to the majorities ideas and was well known for even living with the impoverished to better understand their everyday needs. To those of lower income and struggling family affairs she was a saint.
Ansidara would say his mother was just wisely and strategically playing her cards in the game called life.
Ansidara glances to his left finding he was now face to face with the cold black iron gate that was intricately crafted to have winged beings resting upon spiraling vines and carefully crafted leaves. A beautiful arrangement for the entrance into his large cage. It was an entertaining cage, but still a cage he had been kept in for eighteen years.
This iron gate although beautiful was not unique, it so happened to be one out of the eight monitored entrances to the forty thousand acre property.
He takes a slow step forward as he turns his attention to his left where a small intercom was nestled against the red mossy wall and above a small camera that looked more like a shirt button. He glanced to a small black pad that was placed beneath the button sized camera and without the slightest hesitation he presses his finger against it. The onyx iron gate begins to open with a slow pace that irritated him whenever he was in a hurry.
He passes through the entrance as soon as there is a gap large enough to enter and when he does the gate hastily closes behind him.
He turns his head from his left to see the endless wall disappear into the grove of oak trees and then turns his head to the right where a magnificent albino Great Dane had been patiently waiting.
"Ah Cassie," he smiles then gestures for the dog to come.
She gracefully sashays to him without the slightest doubt that she would receive the attention she deserved. Ansidara can feel the corners of his mouth tug as he can't help but smile at the overly confident dog. He pat her only once before recalling the memory of receiving her on his eighth birthday. Back then she was only a small puppy that fit within his hand, but now she stood half his height tall, covered in a pure snow white coat with soft pastel red eyes.
He steadily reaches to scratch her pointed ears. "How did you know I was here?" he asks patting her silky smooth head.
Far off in the distance he heard his answer as the humming of a golf kart's engine could be heard zooming down the paver path at top speed. He let a soft chuckle escape from his cold lips. He should have known who was waiting for his arrival. He let out a soft breath as he stood to his full height and began to walk down the path to meet the driver halfway.
Just as the kart came into view he could clearly see who was sitting upon the white driver's seat with a slight glare. It was no other than the head maid of the Tore estate and his mother's personal maid Lousia.
"Ansidara," she calls coming to a harsh halt. "You should've called." She said pushing back her long black hair that had come loose from her bun.
He glances to the back of the go kart where a ugly mutt patiently sat, her long pink tongue hang out as she drooled over her dirty brown coat.
"Bella," he smiles, stretching his hands out to the dog.
Bella practically threw her sixty pound body straight into his arms, her wet tongue licking his face in heartfelt affection as he hugs her tightly and laughs into her dirty coat.
"Ansidara," The young maid Lousia, says wrinkling her nose in disgust. "She's been rolling around in the barn."
He gently puts her down, rubbing her head with unbelievable adoration. "That's alright."
Lousia sighs as Ansidara slides into the passenger seat, dusting his dirty red uniform blazer off. "So why didn't you call?" She asks sending the vehicle in motion.
He inhales while petting the two dogs that sit behind him. "I could've just walked to the house."
She scoffed gripping the steering wheel tighter. "That's almost a fifteen minute walk."
He squints looking off to the long road lined with bare trees. "I enjoy the bitter coldness of the January air." He says with a shrug.
She sarcastically laughs watching as the Greek revival style mansion come into view, it’s pure white paint almost blending in with the small details of it’s grand staircase and matching pillars. "I assume you're not coming inside the house yet." She asks tapping a finger against the black leather of the wheel.
"No I'll stay outside just for a bit."
She nods slowly in understanding before pointing far beyond the house to a forest of trees. “The grove I presume."
He turns to his right looking to the green pastures and far off trees. Their bodies the shade of elm brown in the dead of winter.
“Yes, behind the house." He softly responds.
