It’s been three days since I have been living with Dharm. I am still in touch with my mom. Texting her about my whereabouts and telling her I am OK and with someone. She told me yesterday that she is will away for next three days again and when I asked to meet that guy to which she replied “Yes”.
I didn’t ask anything further and ended the conversation there.
Today I got up a little early and I showered. I was wrapping only a towel around my waist when I put on coffee to brew. And I heard doorbell rang. I thought it was the newspaper guy so I didn’t bother changing as I just had to take the newspaper. But when I opened the door, there was a lady with a pink saree, and a big brown coat over it and she was as amazed to see me as I was to see her.
I started to recognize her as I have seen her somewhere and I remembered that this lady is none other than Dharm’s mom.
“Hello aunty.”
“Hello…” I think she was thinking what so say next.
Not to make the moment more awkward, I continued.
“Please come in, Dharm is here. He’s asleep. Let me wake him up.” I saw a trolly bag beside her.
“Do you need any help?” With my hand I pointed out the bag.
“No dear, just wake Dharm up.”
I opened the door fully and quickly went to room even without looking back.
In the room, Dharm was still asleep, stretching his body on the entire bed.
“Wake up, your mom is at
home.” I said while shaking his body.
“Yeah, good one. Tell me another one.” He said in half awake. He wrapped his
hands around my body and pulled me to him on the bed.
“No, I am serious. She is here.” I said in a voice that was little panicked.
He kissed my head, started patting my head and spoke.
“If my mom was about to come, she would have informed me.”
“I am not jok…” I got cut off mid-sentence.
“Dharm, wake up. I am actually home.” His mom said outside of the room. The door was halfway through opened, and she can totally she me in his son’s arms. Dharm shook his head when opened his head, shook up and sat. I sat with him as well, but his hands were still wrapping me.
…
Me and his mom were sitting in the kitchen while Dharm went for shower.
“Is my son going out you?” She asked.
“Well… we haven’t made anything official yet. But we are kinda seeing each other.” My eyes glued to my cup of coffee which was in my hand.
“Why are you nervous?” She smiled while taking a sip of her coffee. “Last time I checked my son was going out with a girl. So that’s why I asked.”
I nervous laughed and took another sip.
“So does your mom knows that you are going out with my son?” She asked.
“No, she doesn’t. She knows Dharm as she has seen him several time but she doesn’t know about us going out.” I replied to her.
“Well, you gonna tell her someday?” She drank another sip from her coffee.
“I will soon. I am not yet prepared to tell her.” I drank what was left in my cup in one go. I got up from my seat to refill my cup. By action I asked does he need a refill to, to which she handed over her cup to me.
“Well son, take your time. But let me tell you something. Mom knows, many does. Can’t say for all though. So at least she would be aware that you and Dharm are at least more than friends.” She took the cup from me and had another sip.
“You think so?” I asked while I took my seat.
“Yeah, I think. But don’t think about it much. Just tell her at you own pace. And if you want to know embarrassing details about Dharm you can ask I am ready to tell them all.”
To that we both laughed.
“Can I too have a cup?” Dharm asked while joining us.
“Sure.” And I got up to get a cup for him.
