Chapter Two: Reliving the Future

Chapter Two: Reliving the Future

May 23, 2022

Falling.

That's all she felt till she gasped for air as she woke up on cold hard stone flooring with a summoning circle surrounding her.

"What the…. What is this?!" She looked up and saw robed figures moving towards her and she shielded herself from her oncoming doom.

"Nooooooo!!!!" She screamed.

Then one of the figures pulled down their hood. It revealed a middle aged man with ruby hair and green eyes and pale skin.

“Relax honey! We’re not going to hurt you! What put that ridiculous notion in your head? Maybe a side effect..” He mumbled the last part to himself. “How is your soul? Better?”

"Wha…" she was about to ask who he was until another figure pulled her hood down.

"Oh dear… it seems that you're still in the same mindset of your past life… let me help." The woman was tall, ghostly pale, had long white hair, and had icy blue eyes. She looked young and was very beautiful.

"What're you…." Before she had a chance to finish her sentence, the woman's fingers glowed and gently tapped Lydia's forehead. And just like that, a flood of new memories came rushing in. Though they didn't feel new, they felt like old reminders. And suddenly, she snapped out of it.

"M-mom? D-dad?" She questioned. The white haired lady known as Luna Starlight smiled and clapped with glee.

"Oh thank goodness! It was a bit risky to do the ceremony without the proper tools at such short notice but it couldn't wait. It was causing you so much pain. As a mother it hurts me to see my little one in pain." She cooed as she helped Lydia stand up properly.

"M-mom." She stuttered while trying to balance herself. "It's… okay….but remind me again as to why I had to do this… ceremony?"

“We were trying to see if your past life was the cause of your pain, hun." A deep husky voice sounded from behind her. She carefully turned around to see a tall ghostly pale male with short wavy but nicely styled white hair with icy blue eyes. He looked to be her age but she couldn't tell since he was tall.

"W-what… pain? And you are….?" She stopped for a moment then her memories came to help out.

"...Oh! You're my brother! And twin?" She questioned as she made a height difference comparison with her hands. He just laughed.

“Fraternal twin, yes. Your soul was in pain, so we set this ceremony up.” He explained.

"Yes. It appeared that your past life was trying to remind you of something important. And apparently it had to do with your soul. Can you tell us what happened if you're able to recall?" A lighter female voice piped up. The last figure pulled her hood down to reveal a young teenager of the age of 15 or so. She had long light pink hair with heterochromia eyes of both green and blue.

"If you need help in remembering, I'm Stella and the Fabio wannabe is Lamar. Your- OUR last names are Starlight. Your name is Lydia by the way." She replied sassily. Lamar huffed.

“Really Stell? She’s amnesiatic, not stupid. Also I am NOT a Fabio wannabe.”

"Sure sure. Keep telling yourself that. Anywho~ tell us what happened!!!" She chirped eagerly while Lamar huffed again. The parents giggling at the interaction.

Lydia had to admit this felt familiar but hilarious at the same time.

"Well…" she started to tell them the details of what happened and how she died. The family was gobsmacked. Especially the parents.

"Honey. It sounds like you came from the mother dimension!" Her mother deduced.

"The what now…?" Lydia questioned.

Luna smiled, "There is a theory amongst us in the magic and paranormal community that the mother dimension is where all dimensions in the universe and beyond are created. They even say that the creators that made the dimension were created by the God that we worship to this day. So that is why we call it that."

"But why would you think that I came from there? We ARE on Earth...right?" She asked nervously.

Her parents shared unsure looks with each other. Then her mother sighed. "Honey. I hate to tell you this, but… your second life it's in this game that you loved from your first life. This… is now real. You are now part of it. And The Snatcher… he's real too. Although I haven't heard of an alien child crashing here on Earth. Maybe you remembered early?"

Lydia had gotten considerably paler. A half hour went by with her ranting how this couldn't be real or how this only happens in anime or manga. Then she finally sat down on the floor to calm herself and after fifteen minutes, she came back to her senses.

"Are you alright honey? Feel better?" Her mother asked in concern.

"Y-yeah. A little…" she looked up to her family. "So… what do I do now?"

Her family shared looks of concern. Then Stella piped up.

"Well obviously you have to eventually confront The Snatcher. But you can't do that while you're like this. He obviously will take advantage of that and use it for his gain." Stella obviously wasn't going to sugar coat this. Her father gave her a disapproving look. She shrunk back a little.

"Before we get to future training, you should know some things about you and the family sweetie." Her mother said carefully.

"... Like what…?" Lydia responded with hesitation.

Her father stepped up to the plate with how they know so much about The Snatcher.

“Our ancestry dates back to the Subcon Forest. It is where we are all from. We are a family of White Witches, honey.”

THAT took her by surprise for a few seconds. But then she saw the summoning circle and started to piece things together from her memories.

"So, I'm… a white witch… and part human. But that still doesn't answer how you guys know about The Snatcher or the history." She pointed out.

Her mother sighed. "Well, from my side of the family and from your father's side as well, we had close ties to each other and at the time lived in Subcon for centuries. We were the consolation that the royal family sought for advice or healing and predictions. Our ancestors were happy there. Until the head white witch of the family predicted that the new queen would seek advice and or solutions for her relationship with her fiancé that she claimed was having troubles with. And for a while our family tried to help. But her requests were growing more demanding and harsh. Her state of mind was slipping and her soul was on the very edge of breaking. We even suggested that we could counsel her and sort out her feelings. But she refused. It wasn't until a week or so later that another prediction came. Everything was dying in ice and chaos, and no matter how much we could try wouldn't stop the tragedy. So, in order to survive, we left. Both families. We packed up and left overnight. And about a week or so afterwards, after we had moved far away enough into the countryside, we heard of the downfall of the kingdom.

And over the centuries the Earth began to change. And humans themselves were on the verge of extinction. Even today, humans are scarce. Only living in remote communities in reservations set aside for them. Other species have even decided to help with the reproduction process in order to maintain the bloodline. So the Earth that you knew back then is completely different from this one dear. And over the years we've heard of the rumors of a Spector that steals souls just for walking into the forest."

She got quiet for a second then continued.

"It wasn't until about a hundred years ago, I couldn't let my curiosity die down and decided to venture into the forest. And I too, met him, The Snatcher, but I was lucky that he let me go. He must've sensed my spiritual energy and recognized it. And even though he's changed drastically, the Prince still was an honorable soul. I, as well, recognized him from the pictures my ancestors shared with me. We came to an agreement that, if I was to step into his forest, it would be for an emergency only. But now…"

She looked at her stunned daughter.

"It seems that we have a reason to see him. And by God and fate at that. I don't know if he'll remember you or not, but tread carefully. Earn his trust first and just take it slow for him or else he may throw a fit or worse. I don't know what he wants with you or your soul for. Either to complete the "game" that you started in your previous life or he has other intentions. Regardless, when you are ready, you shall help the alien child in her journey while she's in Subcon. And you are NOT to reveal who you are until you think that he's ready to handle the truth. Is that understood?" Her mother stated sternly.

Lydia gulped in fear and nodded. "Until then you are to train yourself diligently until you exceed our expectations. You cannot be weak in front of him. And since your old memories have come back, your soul chemistry is a bit different. So he won't recognize immediately that you're from the mother dimension or from this family." Her mother inputted.

"Alright… when do I start…?"

After the incident with rediscovering herself, she and her family trained her on a daily basis in the way of magic and combat fighting. She also discovered that she had a human uncle, a vampire aunt, and half breed cousins. The one that seemed closest to her was Wren Starlight. She was a shy girl and a few years older than her with light red hair with purple stripes. Although you couldn't really tell if she was older because of her vampiric bloodline.

After five years of training and family bonding Lydia felt like she was ready. But her mother was persistent in trying to help her perfect her skills. It was one day that she took a break from combat practice that she found a good spot on a hill to lie down and take it easy for a few minutes before going to her magic lessons. She was drifting off till she heard a little girl stutter from behind her.

“H-hello L-Lydia. H-how are you..?”

Lydia smiled up to her shy but happy cousin Wren.

"I'm fine. Just got done with combat practice. I'm taking a break until my magic lessons. Come join me! We can cloud watch!" Lydia offered enthusiastically.

Wren smiled and laid down beside her. They both looked to the sky and tried to discern the shapes in the clouds.

"Mmmm, that one looks like a bunny." Lydia pointed.

“That one looks like a screwdriver.”

Lydia looked around some more. "That one looks like a dragon!"

Wren looked around till her eyes squinted at something in the sky.

“That looks like a… a ship? A spaceship?” She pointed out the object to Lydia.

Lydia raised an eyebrow at that. "Where?" She asked in confusion. Assuming she meant a cloud. But nope! She guided Lydia to where she saw it. And low and behold, an odd and familiar looking spaceship was JUST ABOVE the stratosphere.

"Oh my God… it's happening…" as she said that, a loud "BOOM!!!!" sounded out and light fragments scattered across the sky. One of which was heading right for them.

"LOOK OUT!!!" She got up and yanked a terrified Wren with her behind the hill. A loud and resounding "CRASH!!!!" echoed throughout the valley. When the dust settled, the two women peeked from their hiding spot. Deep in the crater that was now evident before them, was a brilliant glowing blue hourglass.

"A Timepiece… I never thought that I would see one personally! THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE!!!" Lydia jumped from her hiding spot and carefully slid down the huge Crater to get a look at it. Wren was debating on whether to follow her.

“W-what is a timepiece… what d-does it do? I-is it d-dangerous..?”

"It's one of the main factors of the game that I played in my previous life. Remember? When broken a fragment of time can rewind itself and change the future! It's only dangerous in the wrong hands. Hold on." Lydia came close to it and gently picked it up. It didn't hurt her and she had somewhat of an idea on how to use it from her previous life. But she didn't want to test lady fate and affect time.

"For now let's go home and report to my mother. I think it's time." Lydia spoke with finality.
